The Green River is beautiful and this state park offers a great area for hiking, biking, and anything outdoors. We did one of hikes that goes right down to the lake, offering beautiful views. I would especially recommend coming here in the fall, when the leaves are changing colors. It's a great park!

This review is mainly on my opinion of the campground. I was only there for the weekend and really didn't expect it to be so far from Lexington. I mean, I've passed the exit signs on the way to Nolin River Lake, many times and thought... why not give it a shot?! It's about an hour off of the interstate though. There are a ton of campgrounds in the area, private ones and Corp of Engineer ones. Generally I prefer COE campgrounds over the state park campgrounds. We booked a lakeside spot, last minute on Reserve America. When we arrived and discovered that the shore was so far from the closest sites, we were surprised. The lake is huge but I still like being closer to the lake. The sites were sort of triangle shaped and communal. Most of the picnic tables and fire pits were near the surrounding sites. In the area where our site was, there were no trees. I did see a section of sites that did have trees, so those must be more established and part of a prime, more preferable section. One of the differences between state parks and COEs campgrounds is the early checkout requirement at the state parks. Everyone waits until noon, the last minute and that usually causes congestion at the checkout area. We literally waited over an hour to get out. So if you find yourself already here, reading this review... leave early, unless you don't mind waiting through the line.

Fantastic oasis in the center of Kentucky. Lake is awesome and beautiful. Plenty of coves to escape to and relax. Great escape from life! Emerald Isle marina is great to launch from and just minutes downtown Campbellsville. The state park has plenty of campground and some are on shore line. Highly recommended.

This is not a campground for tent camping. It's noisy, the bathrooms are filthy, and there isn't even an easy way to get water for drinking or to do the dishes. This really should be categorized as an RV park for people who love to fish or boat on the Green River. The campground was packed with noisy party people who played loud music, drank all day and night long and let their kids race around on motorized bikes or golf carts. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing time in the woods - - - look elsewhere.

LOVED staying here!! We were here for 2 weeks and were never bored. Lots of history to see in the area. We even took a day trip to Cumberland Falls- a 1 1/2 hr drive- but didn't seem like it at all. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Showers and bathrooms were immaculate! The grounds were mowed and kept up well. There's a very nice boat launch right next to the campground. The beach was closed but it is early in the year. There's a park next door with volleyball, picnic shelters etc. The lots are all a fairly good size with great views of Green River Lake Overall wonderful place to stay!!
