After being viciously attacked by an unleashed pit bull who, unbeknownst to me, mauled a small child the night before, I decided it's a good idea to carry pepper spray on my daily walks. I've driven by Evans Firearm & Archery a hundred times, so I decided to check it out. I was greeted by David who asked if I was looking for anything in particular. I told him my story and he was very empathetic, as were all the store employees. He walked me through the various options describing the features of each. He patiently answered all of my questions, and I left feeling confident about protecting myself if necessary. He also explained how pepper spray affects dogs versus humans. I hope I never have to use my spray, but if I do I'll return to Evans for a replacement and their outstanding service!

If you're looking for the locally owned feel, if you're looking for customer service, and if you're looking for knowledgeable sales staff, this is your place. From start to finish I had a guy working with me. That's unusual. And it's also a welcome change to most modern buying experiences. I was looking for a .380, and I'd seen a lot of positive online reviews of the new M&P Shield EZ. I also had a CZ83 that I was hoping to trade in. As soon as I walked in a salesman was available to help. They had the exact gun I was looking for. They offered me what I considered to be a quick (less than five minutes), fair offer on my trade in and we made the deal. The only part that took a little longer than usual was the background check. The salesman was even there as I walked out the door. I can't say enough how good the customer service is here. They're not as competitive on price as Bud's is, but in my opinion, Bud's doesn't offer the best customer service. Additionally, they gave me a fair price on my trade in, so I felt good doing business with them. It just depends on what you're looking for. If you want the lowest price in the city, you're not going to find that here. But if you want the best overall experience, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a shop that does it any better.

I've been here a couple times. I am a novice, but the staff here was fantastic in taking time to walk me through everything I could ask for. They were super nice and friendly. This store is out of my way, but I will be sure to continue coming here.

I appreciate the locally owned atmosphere of this gun shop. When recently attending a class here, Jay took time to help me individually and answer questions. Without being overbearing, every time I visit this store, the staff are friendly and helpful, regardless of how much pre-existing experience and knowledge one has.

Stopped in a lunch today with my adult kid to look for them a Christmas gift. I shouldn't have been surprised because I've been in before. No one even acknowledged use being there. The owner was standing by the door and didn't even say Hi. I buy a lot guns and ammo but have yet purchase anything here because of the service. Today I went somewhere else and spent $600+.

Small shop located a little off Nicholasville road. Service was super friendly from the moment we walked in. James is truly the nicest person you could ask for when getting kids started in an archery program. He is knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. We purchased two bows for our boys plus two sets of arrows and cases for both at a better price than I found on Amazon. Yay for supporting local business!One of our sons preferred a different color, so we returned to the store and they were friendly and helpful about exchanging the colors. We highly recommend James and Evans Archery for anyone involved in student archery programs. I would also believe the service would be similar if we were shopping for a firearm. They were great!

I just left Evan's. Terrible customer service. I asked if I could get a part put on my AR. The kid said "no problem, let me get the AR guy." The AR guy snapped at us that he wasnt taking no more work orders! I've bought and traded guns there for years. I won't anymore. I'll be taking my Dan Wesson, Wilson Combat, CZ, Colt business elsewhere. These guys got it all wrong. You put a part on a guys gun and maybe he buys his next 10 guns from you, SIMPLY because of your good customer service! Then again, that's what's wrong with this country nowadays. Nobody wants to work! By the way...2 customers and 3 employees in store at said time. Wow! If you want lessons in how to lose business, get it from Evans!

Customer service was top notch! The guys behind the counter knew their stuff and got me in and out in no time at all.

These guys are extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about firearms. They have a wonderful selection, and though their prices aren't as good as some online, they blow Cabela's out of the water in my opinion. (Plus the difference in prices aren't actually that far off from Cheaper than Dirt, which is hard to do.) This is the shop I choose when looking for a firearm. Spend a couple of extra bucks, and support a local business.As for those who say the customer service isn't good. I completely disagree. It might take a second for someone to approach you, but once they do, they will absolutely answer any questions you might have, and spend a considerable amount of time helping you. Plus they don't push sales on you, which is all you can really ask.
