Nice to have a new Mexican restaurant in this part of town. I drove by it one day and noticed it, finally got to stop in last weekend and try it. I ordered a huarache with al pastor. They bring out complimentary chips and salsa, which was nice. Good salsa, especially the spicy green that they asked if we wanted. Easy parking out front. Nice staff. Food was good. I have a few ultimate favorite Mexican street food places that I frequent, and I still like those better but I am definitely glad to see this place and will come back if I am in the area and wanting Mexican food. They have a large menu by the way, much more than just street food!

This was my third time ordering takeout from El Taquero, and the food has been consistently fine. I tried the combo fajita platter this time (chicken, steak, and shrimp) and all of the proteins were cooked well. My biggest issue was that even combined with all of the fajita accoutrements, the flavor was still pretty bland. You can see from the photo that the guacamole is obviously a pretty unappetizing color, but I still give them credit for making it with fresh ingredients instead of buying something pre-made and pasty. The portion size was also good for the price.I've also tried the burrito gigante (which is smothered in cheese) and the chipotle burrito, and I have to say that I found all of them lacking in flavor, but maybe I'm just ordering the wrong things. I love that they give you free chips & salsa with your takeout order, though the portion size has been reduced to about 30% of what they used to offer when they first opened. The salsa is actually quite tasty, but it's also very watery. The people working there have always been very nice and it takes less than 10 minutes for a takeout order to be ready on a weekday. Overall I'd say based on the convenient location and reasonable pricing I'll probably keep coming back, but next time I'll try to order something a little more flavorful!

First time but won't be the last!Small venue compared to the other Mexican restaurants in the city but that can be a good thing. The staff was super friendly, checked on us several times throughout our meal and made us feel very welcomed. They don't have their liquor license yet but working on it (hiccup in the paper work due to COVID). Our waiter was very apologetic because they were unable to serve drinks. They served us with the traditional chips and salsa but there were 3 variations of salsa. Each carrying their own flavor and spice. All 3 was good on their own but not as spicy as I like. The food was delicious! 3 street tacos for me (Al Pastor, Fish and steak) and my lady had chicken fajitas. Was served piping hot and quickly after ordering. I'll be going back to explore more of the menu and hopefully have a tasty margarita for the next review.

Love the street tacos here. I've tried all the different meats. A great price for what you get. The waitresses are very nice, but noted they don't really speak English well enough to understand special requests.

Great food and an extensive menu. My wife ordered Mole Oaxaqueno, a chicken dish with rich dark mole. I got the chorizo burrito. We also got a order of street corn. A lot of things on the menu you do not see in other Mexican restaurants. This will be a regular place for us. You will love it.

I found this place while looking for a Mexican restaurant in northern Lexington. It is small, but the staff was very friendly and efficient. (It didn't hurt that I was one of few customers during my visit). When I sat down, I noticed a huge variety of hot sauces on the table, and I immediately felt good about the place because I knew I'd have options. The staff brought me a regular red salsa for my chips and a green salsa that the lady said was "spicy." I was hoping for some heat, but it turns out that "spicy" meant spiced flavor, and that still great.I was feeling adventurous, so I ordered something called chili Colorado. It was a chicken or beef dish with either verde or red sauce. I picked beef with red sauce. When the server brought the plate, it was steaming hot. I had to wait a few minutes before I was brave enough to try it. It wasn't too hot, but it had a nice flavor. I concluded that if you're looking for flavor, this is definitely a place to consider.I will definitely be trying this restaurant again.

Delicious food!! We live in Meadowthorpe and are always on the lookout for a good restaurant nearby. El Taquero should definitely be on everyone's shortlist. I had the chicken fajitas and they are my favorite I've had (and I've had a lot). Chips were fresh and so was salsa. You could tell everything was freshly made. Will be back...soon!!
