El Picante

I'm thrilled to have tried El Picante, a highly-recommended Mexican restaurant that exceeded my expectations. Despite its aged appearance, the restaurant's authentic decor transported me to Mexico. The friendly staff, impeccable cleanliness, and attentive service only added to the experience.I was hesitant to order the fish tacos, given a previous disappointing experience at another local spot. However, El Picante's rendition was a game-changer - generous portions, exceptional quality, and explosive flavors made for a truly delicious meal. While a little more cheese and a nice sauce would've elevated it further, the dish was outstanding as-is.El Picante has earned its spot as my top choice for local Mexican cuisine. With its outstanding food and reasonable prices, I highly recommend giving it a try.

Excellent find on our way home driving thru Kentucky! Ribeye fajitas sizzling and great flavor. Los Amigos is 4 fried corn tacos with beef and chicken with guacamole and sour cream. Very good flavor. Everything fresh and tasty and hot! We will definitely stop here again when driving thru.

El Picante is a great little Mexican restaurant located near Weddington Plaza in Pikeville. This is our first visit eating in as we have always had it catered at work before but we decided to give it a shot this evening. The decor is super cute with colorful hand carved wooden chairs with bright colors. Next time I'll take pics!! The staff were all very friendly and the waiter very attentive and responsive. We started with the usual chips (nice and warm) and queso/salsa and quacamole. The guacamole was nice and fresh but could use a little more flavor (lime/cilantro?). For entrees, I had the Shrimp El Diablo. They offered the small peeled shrimp vs the jumbo shrimp with the shell. I chose the latter and it was so good! As expected with El Diablo it had a nice heat and good flavor! My husband had the chicken and cheese and it was served warm and fresh. He did think the chicken was slightly dry but overall he said it was good. Would def come back- I'd order the same dish too! Good stuff!

This place is great, I have been here many times and have never once gotten bad food. This restaurant is truly superb.
