I recently stayed at this hotel. I am disabled and military. It was perfect for my needs and St. Matthew's is close to the Highlands I grew up in so it's safe. I stayed a week. The staff were all quite helpful and attentive to all my needs. I will return there.

I have stayed here several times over the course of the years. I have always enjoyed my stay. It's an efficiency motel with modern clean rooms and location proximity to virtually everything you need in Louisville within a 15 minute drive. The rooms are what you pay for and they're well-taken care of. I stay here because I feel safe, I do not have to pay for parking, and it right by a hospital. Additionally, you're close to the Mall at St. Matthews and other mecca shopping areas. Generally, I pay $72-$80/night here. Derby time, you're paying $480/night. Be aware that they do jack up the prices when it is derby season. I get it though, when they're in a hot spot for travelers who are willing to pay the fee, it makes sense they would jack up the prices to make some cash. Any other time of year, you're not going to run into that. I have always had a pleasant experience with the front desk associates. The motel is owned by the same family who runs the front desk, if I am not mistaken. This is a 3 story motel that requires stairs for the 2nd and 3rd floor. If you need ADA accommodations, they have a first floor that is accessible via the back of the motel. The only downside is that you are not able to access the front of the motel via the first floor without having to go outside and going around if you're wheelchair or handicap bound as the stairs hinder this possibility. They do offer ADA rooms on the first floor. Breakfast and coffee are NOT served here. However, as mentioned prior, you will have tons of restaurants nearby to get food as needed.

I booked this hotel back in December of 2021. I figured surprising my husband with Kentucky derby tickets would be an amazing birthday present. (January is his birthday) The derby isn't until 5/6-5/7 of 2022. I booked this room and got the derby tickets. Everything was great. We were excited. The hotel isn't super nice but it's close to the venue and seemed doable. I paid $800 for three nights. Fast forward to early February and flights are finally available. I totally get let down by the prices. $1500 per PERSON round trip from California to Kentucky. I looked at other cities and maybe thinking about driving in from somewhere else. I looked at trains. Driving across the country even... I just couldn't spend another $3,000 on top of the $1000+ I already spent and this is all not including food and taxis ... for TWO DAYS. After the pandemic I was so excited to travel again. I was heartbroken. I figured, "Ok, I'll have to cancel. Maybe another time." I call the hotel (DuPont suites) and get a nice lady who used to live in California. She sympathized with me and said it's very expensive because of gas prices increasing and also because of the derby. She said it's really a great weekend if i can make it work. She also said that her manager wasn't around but to try back that Saturday. This was back in Feb. I call Saturday and low and behold, he's not around. I leave a message. A week later, no call back, I call THEM back. I ask for an email address. I then email the manager. TWICE. I asked for some compassion as I was not looking at the cancellation policy when I booked. NO ANSWER. Two weeks later I call again. Get another lady who was very short. "Sorry- no refunds." At this point it just seems silly because we still have two months+ until the derby, and this room could have easily sold by then. It's the closest I found to the race track. I called about two weeks after that date, sometime in March. Same lady. No compassion. Didn't care about my situation. Manager isn't around - OF COURSE!!! I sent another email two weeks ago. Never got an answer. I called asking to relay to the manager that's never around. This has been an ongoing game of telephone but only one person is calling!!! Not fun, not professional, not cool. Not a good company. I will NEVER recommend a business like this to ANYONE. I canceled the room and my $800 is gone- to this RUDE business. I understand people have their policies. But come on. MONTHS before !!!!??? I just feel like I got completely scammed and I don't even want to go to Louisville in the future. People like this make the world a cold place. Where is the human kindness ??!! If you are looking for friendly people, this is not the place. If you are doubting your trip, or like to get cancellation policies, this is not your place. This has never happened to me before and I am just so crushed. Extremely disappointed in these people.

It's equivalent to a Motel 6. It's a good area but minimal cleanliness. Furniture dingy. Pictures make it look better.
