We've been here a few times as we live just a few miles away. When we moved here from Arkansas we were so happy that there was a least one sit down resturant in town besides subway. We were sadly mistaken. If you love southern food do yourself a favor and don't eat here. The parking may be full but it's only because there's no where else to go. The staff is nice enough but the food is horrendously bad. Too greasy to too dry... Over cooked, microwaved, reheated frozen mess, seasonings bad. I wish they would pull it together and start serving decent food. They could be so much better. The worst part are the rediculously long wait times. My wife was told it would take an hour for fried chicken (in a country restaurant mind you). The last time we went there. I've waited 45 minutes for overfried catfish and flavorless hushpuppies you could have used as golf balls. What a shame.

As the only Yelped place around, I had to stop in and see for myself. I actually enjoyed this place more than my husband did. That's always how it goes unless he picks the destination. We got there at about 10:15 and the waitress explained that the salad that was already out, was only for the lunch buffet. You know when you're told you can't have something and it makes you want it more? That usually doesn't apply for salad or anything healthy. But that's what happened here. I'm not a breakfast fan and the few times on the breakfast buffet didn't look appealing. I finally talked the waitress it to letting me have the salad, not really but I did mention the price listed in the menu. I think that was issue, she didn't know how to charge it as an addition to the breakfast buffet. I enjoyed my salad, which included potato salad, boiled eggs, ham and more. I even went back for seconds. My husband on the other hand, complained about everything he tasted. He asked if fresh bacon would be put on the bar, the lady then pulled a tray from the counter that was in between the kitchen and the bar, it had been sitting there since we arrived and the bacon was cold of course. Then the waitress did a last call warning because they were breaking down the buffet to get ready for lunch. He literally was given about 15 minutes to eat. It would've been nice had the waitress mentioned the time limit when we first arrived or even offered him to partake in the lunch buffet... especially since he only ate the equivalent to what a child usually eats. I did enjoy my salad, so I won't completely rate it on my husband's bad experience. Plus, the waitress was nice... even though she could use a bit of customer service training.

Place is disappointing. Got food poisoning and they don't even sell cornbread. Wait staff also wasn't following state regulations regarding masks, and were rude to us the entire time.

Service leaves a lot to be desired. We went here last night for my birthday dinner. My husband ordered the buffet and I ordered a catfish meal. After 30 minutes the waitress told me it was on its way , I told her to make it into a Togo box since husband had already eaten. When my order was up another waitress took my plate to someone sitting in her section even though the cook told her that wasn't her order and that I had been waiting for 35 minutes. unbelievable service when I asked to speak to manager was told there wasn't one. Had to go to IGA and buy bologna and bread for my meal cause we didn't plan on having to cook at our cabin.

Considering the fact that a lot of these types of restaurants don't make anything from scratch and everything is either frozen or comes out of a can you would except faster than normal service and wait times. This is not the fact with Cornbread Cafe. Called to place an order of Chicken tenders and fries and was told that I'd have to wait an hour to get my food. I understand that sometimes places get busy but to tell someone an hour so you and other employees won't get overwhelmed is unprofessional and quite frankly lazy. I won't be ordering anytime soon.

If you're passing though and need something to eat, just stop at subway. This restaurant is terrible. My husband and I went there 2 days ago and ordered burgers. It took forever and both of our meals were cold. They heated our food up for us and were still not good at all. Half of the restaurant had dirty tables and it wasn't even busy. Definitely do not recommend.

Went in for dinner with my family. Half of us got the buffet which offered lots of fried food... Chicken was delicious and crispy. Fried fish and popcorn shrimp average. Server slow on refills. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the cornbread! Not sweet which I prefer. Overall solid option for dining in Frenchburg. If you want more of a small town feel/character... go to Small Town cafe on the corner.

For a place called "Cornbread Cafe" I was very disappointed when there was no cornbread sold in said cafe. I was expecting southern food by the name however was sorely disappointed when all that was offered was burgers, fries, and cafeteria bosco sticks. The food and service was pretty average but did the job for my group of very hungry people. I will say that there were very limited food options, no buffet, and no ice cream machine working. The worst part of this experience was later in the day. I got one of the worst cases of food poisoning I have ever had from a burger and chili cheese fries. So be warned.
