Beautiful historical house in Louisville! We are locals and it was fun to be a tourist in our own town. We did the "self guided" tour, they have volunteers on all 3 floors of the house who were SO helpful and knowledgeable! We loved hearing all of the historical stories. A very fun day date :) would recommend! They also said they host tea parties throughout the year, which would be SUCH a fun girls date!!

We visited during the annual Old Louisville Garden Tour held the second weekend of June. We visited the website and prepurchased our tickets and chose to arrive at 10 AM to begin the tour. We started with the ground floor and worked our way up to the third floor with most of it being a leisurely self-guided tour, which was enjoyable due to various informative signs placed throughout the house. A docent was near at hand to answer questions and assist us as desired. One of the guides was the granddaughter of the original homeowner, which was fantastic. The house is gorgeous. Beautiful woodwork throughout, furniture and decor from the time period, and every room felt like a time portal. We continued out of the house after the tour and proceeded to visit 8 houses located in and around Belgravia Court for the annual garden tour. The Conrad-Caldwell House was a fantastic start to our tour. I would be happy to return to visit again to see more of it since it was a sensory overload for a first-time visitor -- so much to see!

I've been trying to do more holiday things this year to help combat the dreariness this time of year sometimes brings. In searching for holiday activities, the Candlelight Tour came up. Old houses, Christmas and mood lighting are right up my alley! We arrived at our designated time and checked in at the gift shop. They had a beautiful selection of items to buy that featured the house. They also had several books about the surrounding area. Heading into the house, it was decorated so beautifully. The staircase and the ballroom were my favorite areas. The docents were well informed and happy to answer any question. I look forward to coming back during the day time and doing a guided tour. The candlelight tour was an amazing part of my holiday plans.

Amazing !! I'm forgetful of names, but I believe it was Beth that was the great great ....great ? Granddaughter of the house that gave the tour. She had so much information. She spoke of her father that gave tours as well, that the museum saved his life twice, and that she wished she'd listened to how much information he had to give on family history while he was still alive. We got to see the 'not public assess' attic. I hope the museum continues to restore of the 3rd floor. Please just walk around the area after to see the unique building structure or the houses in the neighborhood and we stopped for food at the Grandville Pup.

Amazing historic home with informative tour! This gorgeous home is such a staple when visiting Old Louisville. The grand exterior perfectly matches the interior.I did the guided tour and it was led by a woman who was the descendent of a previous owner. She was so well spoken and knowledgeable about the home and it's history. She was able to answer all the questions thrown at her and you could tell she was passionate.Parking: street parking can always be a gamble but st James court is particularly bad in the evenings or when the park is hosting an event. Give yourself extra time to park and walk over. Can't wait to visit again & looking forward to attending some of their special events!

This was a wonderful house with terrific architecture, furniture, and artifacts from the period. It is a shame such places are not as accessible for everyone in many cities, but this one is not to be missed. The photography was also terrific.

I've been on a bunch of different mansion tours over the last few years. The people here know the stories and what they are talking about. We did the self-guided tour but you still get a lot of guidance from people throughout the house. You leave knowing a lot of new things about the families that owned the house, and where water towers came from. Great way to spend an hour or two.

If you love old Victorian homes then a visit to the Conrad-Caldwell House is well worth the time. When it was built in the early 1900s it was the most expensive mansion constructed in the Louisville area. Now if you are here the first weekend of December when the Old Louisville Holiday Home Tour is taking place it is open to the public and decorated for the holidays. This year there were 8 private homes and 2 public places including the Conrad-Caldwell House on the tour. This is truly one of our favorite events not to be missed.

A wonderful experience! Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and informative. Barb Caldwell Huber was our tour guide and our 1-hour tour became 2 hours! She was full of first-hand knowledge and you could tell absolutely loved her family and the house. We learned so much and she was so patient with all the questions. I especially appreciated that she added information beyond the house (e.g., the Southern Exposition, 1974 tornado, etc.) that offered additional perspective to the environment. I would highly recommend - good value for the $s.I don't live in the area and cannot come at Christmas but we did get a peak at the stored Christmas decorations and I am sure the house is JUST beautiful during the holidays!
