the counter and menus of a chinese restaurant

Good for what it is. They have added a few tables for indoor seating though I don't see us ever using it. For a quick Chinese dish when you don't want to wait too long and would rather just eat at home, it's perfect.

I am familiar with authentic Chinese food, and I realize most westernized Chinese food is what it is, just like so-called Tex-Mex is not what you're going to get in Chihuahua. That said, there are ways for establishments to still serve up decent fare even if it isn't all that close to the Homeland.China Cafe, on a recent visit, did not even accomplish the task of approximating decent, watered down food.I don't know what the names of the items were that we ordered for pickup exactly but it doesn't really matter, none of the four of us, including my two teenagers, enjoyed our dinner.Mainland China has roughly seven different flavor profiles, ranging from pungent to Sweet to spicy. None of those flavor profiles were present in anything we ate, and in order for our meal to fit into a Chinese flavor profile you would have to add "Greasy" because that's how everything tasted.Yes I realize that most of us Hoosiers are probably going to have to plan on a trip across the river to neighboring Louisville and be willing to part with quite a bit of $$$_ if we want more authentic tasting Chinese food, but there's no reason to serve up Chinese food that has less credentials in terms of flavor that something out of the supermarket Frozen foods section. All of my food was sort of crammed together into a to-go box and even after it was warmed up a little bit it was stiff and bland---other than the taste of Grease of course. The vegetables were hard and unremarkable. The white rice was, I suppose, passable but certainly not particularly enjoyable. The egg roll was basically a chunk of salt lick. I wish I could say something positive about this dinner but it was really an insult to anything either Chinese or American, which is quite an accomplishment I suppose.I think we'll pass next time, and head down to The Onion which is light years advanced by comparison.

Rare that we walk out of an established. The dining area is small and no customers eating dinner, the first table was being used as an office space, I just left work and don't need to see your to do junk.Asked for hot tea, told no we don't have.Asked for tap water, told no bottled water. I know you have tap water! She then said we do not have a soda machine, fine we don't want soda. The tone was off-putting and away we went as fast as we could to never return.Tip: next door in a gem we love and here is rare spot we will never ever return to and will often recall the place..."as remember that place where we just left?"

Good. I've gotten takeout many times. Chicken and veggie dishes are all good. However, I got beef and snow peas once - the beef was horrible! (I tried to tell the proprietor, she was not interested!)Service is fast. Ambience inside is simple. The buffet is ok, good value, but to go or getting single orders inside is better.Avoid the beef and you'll be in good shape!

Every time I call them at 8:30-8:40 they dont pick up or complain that they have to cook food, but its a restaurant. they close @ 9 and have horrible service. I guess they have made enough money for the day and dont need anymore. food is basic, nothing amazing. I live close by but I wont go back.

Small simple place. The buffet is whatever, but the takeout is decent and standard stuff that you'd see anywhere. I like it and their hours are good, don't need much more of a reason to eat there.

I honestly hate to complain about restaurants and especially small businesses, but I felt that I had to. I remember a day when the customer was king and if you paid a decent price for something, it should be quality. We picked up a good amount of China Cafe food for our New Year's Eve dinner. One online menu stated we could get an order of Crab Rangoon with a $40+ purchase. I ordered $48 .... but when my husband picked up the order and asked about that promo, he was faced with a snarly person who gruffly said, ' that offer expired!!'. Well, if it were my business, I would have honored a promo that was still visible online --- with a SMILE. Not only that, we didn't even get ONE DANG FORTUNE COOKIE, lol. I mean, usually they throw in a bunch of those! Not an egg roll.....nothing for ordering that much food, which wasn't that good on top of the disappointment. On the positive side, they used lots of veggies in the dishes. Veggie fried rice was very good. Zucchini in a few dishes was a nice surprise, tho I didn't see any bok choy. General Tso was the worst I ever had. Shredded dry chicken and fat balls in a bland sauce. We will never go again.

I went there at 12:30 in the afternoon and ordered Szechuan beef from the lunch menu for $7.75. When the food came out they charged me $15. I said I thought it was a lunch special and she said that I had to specify that I wanted the lunch special. Szechuan beef was not anywhere on their menu other than under the lunch special so that's the only way I could've ordered it. Regardless to say, I will never be back there again. Total rip off!

First time to order takeout. Friday afternoon. I had to throw everything away. Generals tsp chicken, special fried rice, egg rolls and miso soup. I did eat 3crab ran-goons. Everything tasted like a bottle of vegetable oil. The egg roll tasted strange. Chicken was not good... undercooked. Miso soup had gobs of tofu but zero seasoning. Again not fully cooked. It was pretty gross.

They charged us $4.05 for 3 waters. We ordered water and they brought us 3 bottled waters. It's sad that I have to ask if the they are charging for the waters, but I didn't, my bad. The food was ok, we got there at 2:05 she charged us dinner prices. I won't be back. I can get a case of water at sam's for the price they charged us, actually for less. So for a 30.00 lunch it was $42, hmmm, uh no, so no more business from me. Don't steal the government doesn't like the competition, and don't rob people.
