Such a beautiful place. This off the grid location is certainly a hidden gem. I attended an event here and it was just perfection. The grounds are gorgeous and inside is just so quaint with an at home feel. It's full of unique antiques and decorated so tastefully. The owner and her beautiful daughter were so kind. They were friendly and helpful throughout our event. They are just the most charming hosts. This would be an excellent location for a wedding, rehearsal dinner or a shower. There are various picturesque locations throughout. Go check the winery out, you will not be disappointed!

We stopped in just around when they opened on a Saturday morning. We were heading to Lexington for the day and weren't going to make it to our initial first stop in time for their on-the-hour tour. So a quick Yelp search (and a perusal of a DrinkKY brochure conveniently kept in the car) we figured out we could make a stop at Castle Hill Winery on the way. As we were walking up, the gentleman on a riding lawnmower hopped off to greet us and take us inside for our tasting. He is the owner and the winemaker and a regular Chatty Cathy! Super friendly and ready to talk about anything and everything. Including his wines! The wine tasting costs $1 per sample (you try 6 of the wines, it costs you $6). And the wines run $15 per bottle. Which is pretty reasonable, in my Kentucky-wine drinking experience.I tried several wines and enjoyed them. I ended up also buying a bottle of the strawberry wine to take home. The fruit wines are sweet without being syrupy. I really liked them. The venue is lovely. Nice outdoor space with a lot of green and seating options. It looks like a lovely place to have a wedding or private event. I would highly recommend a visit here. The only draw back is that I don't think they have a working credit card reader. They accept credit card payments, but will be processing them the old fashioned way...hand-writing out your receipt, taking your card information down, and processing it all....later. So, if you are planning ahead for a visit here, I would recommend bringing cash.

Hours on their website says they're open 1-5pm on Sundays. We made the drive out there and they were closed. After reading several other reviews it sounds like they aren't open during their posted hours. The building also looks in a bit of disarray. We won't be trying to come back here. There are a lot of other wineries in the area to try.

What an amazing experience at the Castle Hill Winery. The owner was full of stories of the Castle Hill farm and the neighboring castle next door. He was so fun to talk to while we sampled wines. There wines were also really great. They aren't quite in season yet so we had the whole place to ourselves. We had a blast.

My friend and I already went to 3 wineries in the area and this was our last stop. I would make sure to call before you drop by. Wow!! This place has so much nostalgia and perfect for weddings/events. You drive by old barns, one abandoned home and the backside of the winery is the beautiful rolling hills and farm. This is the most prettiest and oldest tasting room I've ever been to. What stood out was the huge oil painting hanging above the bar. The tasting room contains a 28 foot long back and front bar with large mirrors. It has a beautiful floor to ceiling rock fireplace and features 3 sets of French doors that open up to our large outdoor patios. Most all are original- flooring, bar, lighting fixtures. I appreciated and loved that they preserved the place. The owner was very friendly and takes pride of their building. Before you enter the tasting room, there is also a gift shop. The wine tastings were only a $1.00 a tasting which are 1 oz pours. This is what I tried:-Shiraz-This Shiraz has spicy blackberry, plum, and peppery flavors. There are additional notes of licorice, bitter chocolate and mocha. -Cabernet Sauvignon-Cabernet is mellow and mild, hearty and rich. It has a deep red color, with the primary taste being black currant. Other overtones include blackberry and mint. The wine has an oaky, vanilla flavor. My favorite from the tasting. -Castle Hill Red- Not quite as harsh as other reds, Castle Hill Red has less tannin than a Cabernet. It is mellow but still complex, a bit chewy. Castle Hill Red is known for the flavors of plums, black cherry, violets, and orange. -Riesling- Riesling is a semi-sweet but complex white wine that ages very well. Its flavors include melon, fruity and floral flavors , as well as some honey and musky tones .-Castle Hill White- This robust white wine is a semi-sweet wine. Wine pricing for bottles are $15.00 and they make all their wines. I had a really great experience and enjoyed talking to the owner.

Unfortunately this was our first winery on our tour. It wasn't inviting, didn't even look opened. Vines were overgrown, facilities not maintained, had to call in order to do a tasting. They were out of the 2 wines I really wanted to taste and the Camelot wine I did taste, smelled and tasted funny. They don't make wines out of their grapes, the bring grapes in from all over the country. I gave 2 stars figuring the pandemic might of hit them hard. In good conscience, I couldn't recommend a trip there unless they get it together.

This was an amazing experience! The man that owned it poured our wine samples. So sad I didn't get his name! He was so sweet and welcoming he told us everything about each wine. He told us about the winery and the weddings they have there. We had an amazing time and the wine was just as good. So thankful for this wonderful experience. Definitely check this place out. It is worth it.

The drive up is beautiful. Lovely trees and plants. From there it gets confusing. No sign into the winery. We took look around past rooms full of junk and found it. No air inside so we decided to enjoy drinks outside. Folding tables and chairs were scattered amount overgrown bushes and weeds. I know it's summer and I expect bugs but, there were so many flies and Gnats we couldn't enjoy. With a dollar per taste I would recommend going to Wildside near by. Staff are friendlier and it's a much nicer atmosphere. The wine is ok. Maybe try it in the winter when it's not so hot and buggy.

I don't know if my friend and I came at a bad timing as it was around 4pm but when we went into the winery bar, it was hot and sticky like the AC wasn't turn on. The guy wasn't so friendly and we felt rushed as he told us which wine was dry and sweet. He didn't offer us crackers with our wine tasting or any side story about the place.
