The atmosphere was great for date night or a relaxing night out with friends. I could see someone renting the whole place for an event as well. "We were lucky with fantastic patio weather and were able to enjoy the outdoors for dinner. The main negative is all the loud cars driving by but otherwise it's pleasant. My husband and I split a few dishes and everything was delicious. We had a steak tostada, ahi tuna, skirt steak with chimichurri and scallops. I would recommend any of these dishes. The service was exceptional and the manager even came by our table to see how we were doing. All in all this was such a lovely experience and we will be back."

"Having been vegetarian for a couple decades, I had never given this place a try. But when I discovered that BJ's no longer serves baked beignets, I went on a mission to find a place that does. Fish House/Café Beignet has my beloved beignets! I'd love to have strawberry toppings added but the plain ones served here are high quality and delicious. I also tried a few sides, which were exceptionally tasty: potato cakes, bean soup, macaroni and cheese. The service is quick and friendly, and the place has a nice atmosphere and ample dining space. I will return here for the beignets and side dishes."

Friendly servers, host, and staff. Manager/supervisor came by to ask how we were doing. I appreciate that touch. The appetizers (especially Blue Dog bread!) were delicious and well done. The bad: the entrees are not that good. This last time we went and got the Caribbean chicken - my wife said it was the most disappointing meal she'd had all month (it was a short month :)). The other meal was better but for what we paid ($100 for both) it was not worth the money. The ambience is great. It's a hopping place."

"This place is absolutely outstanding. First the motif is horse racing which totally fits in Lexington. It's just a classic old school steakhouse in many ways. The food is absolutely scrumptious. The crab cakes were some of the best I have ever had. Mostly crab and not filler. I also had the Bourbon Fillet for my main course. I am not usually a fillet fan but this came with shrimp and grits as well. Just an amazing piece of meet and the shrimp and grits were the bomb. Amazing. Service was pretty good but could have been better. Our meal was delayed somewhat and we had to ask the waitress about it. In a place this expensive where you pay $80 or more for a steak, you shouldn't have to ask. They should come to you. Still service was better than most places so it isn't affecting my stars. Finally - the Old Fashioned they serve is ridiculously sweet. They told me it was sweet. It was so sweet and strong I couldn't drink it. The server took it back and brought me a Manhattan instead which was much better. But this is a matter of taste. Just letting readers know in case they are interested."

"Last night two of my friends and I went to Palmer's to celebrate one of my friends' birthday. It wasn't stifling hot outside so we opted to sit outside so that we could enjoy the view of the lane. I definitely recommend sitting outside if it's possible. I had the peach sangria to drink and it was light and refreshing--perfect for a summer evening. We split the calamari for an appetizer and it was good--not huge portions but the peanut sauce was a tasty change from the typical marinara sauce that you get at most places. I had the Caribbean chicken salad as my entree and it was okay. It wasn't served with very much dressing but I was able to get more from our server. I had a taste of my friend's shrimp and grits and it was outstanding. I would definitely recommend that next time!"

"After living in Louisville for nearly 16 years, I fiiiiiiinally checked out Mike Linnig's Restaurant. This spot was on my husband's list as well, so for Father's Day we thought this would make a fun treat. And it lived up to its hype. We arrived shortly after they opened, and after waiting about 30 minutes, we were able to get a table inside, a relief considering it was 90-something degrees outside. One thing we learned: There are two lines, one for a table-service inside and the other for takeout for the large outdoor pavilion. Be sure to get in the line that you want, and if you're in a hurry, you could see which one is moving faster. I got the fish plate with 2 pieces of fish, fries and cole slaw and Mike Linnig's famous tartar sauce on the side. This was expertly fried fish, light and crisp breading with ample spice. I also loved the hushpuppies, which were larger than others I've had and freshly made. My husband and father-in-law split the Seafood Plate, which had a bit of everything, with white fish, scallops, fried salmon and even frog legs. If you're hungry and want to try a bit of everything, this is definitely the thing to get. And after we ate, we found the large outdoor playground. My kids had a ball. They adequately wore themselves out and slept on the way home. You can also walk up to the Louisville Loop and see the river beyond that. Mike Linnig's is a Louisville institution, celebrating its 100th birthday next year. It took us too long to experience it, but we will be back."

We showed up early so we accepted a seat in the bar instead of the dining room, which turned out to be a good thing due to the amount of kiddos in the dr! Love kids, just not that night! We were looking forward to the live music posted on their website but were told it's only on the patio during warmer days, so no music.The bartender was our server and seemed annoyed that we were there. My hubs ordered a steak and broccoli, I ordered a wedge salad and lobster bisque as well as the "thyme cocktail ". The cocktail was OVERWHELMINGLY thyme. Like whoa!!!! Nearly undrinkable, so I switched to wine. My husband was underwhelmed with the steak given the price, yet overwhelmed with the side of broccoli as it could've fed 4 people!!!!! The lobster bisque hit the spot for sure but I was disappointed that the wedge salad had bagged bacon bits on it and not fresh bacon, especially given the price point.The kicker was when the server dropped the dessert menu at the table, and said, I'm obligated to give you this!"..... interesting. When we hollered at him that we would like to take the bread pudding to go, he looked at us surprisingly, and said, "oh! It worked!"...We ate the bread pudding when we got home and it was delish!!!Also noticed a gentleman that came to sit at bar while we were there and asked to have channel on tv changed. Visibly annoyed, the bartender went to ask the hostess to change it. The man was never asked what he wanted to drink, and I noticed shortly after, he was gone. I assume he left. Poor guy!!Wanted to love it, especially given the drive, but it just turned into an expensive night out with nothing in return except for the bread pudding in bed!!"

"We arrived early, an hour before our 5:30pm reservation, just to walk around and enjoy the riverfront views. We stopped at the inside bar to order drinks, and found outside seats under an umbrella that was perfect for enjoying our friends! At 5:30, we checked in for dinner and were told that our table was ours for only one and half hours, because today is a holiday. Knowing that we normally take about two hours to dine, we hurriedly ordered pizza for our appetizer and tea; both arrived quickly. We proceeded to order a small meal, only a salad, because we felt too rushed to enjoy more within the hour and half allotted for this holiday dinner reservation. Our pizza and salad was delicious, and our tea refreshing. Sadly, we didn't have time to order a main course or dessert, so I can offer little more to this review.Our server was efficient, attentive, and checked on us serval times to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. He did bring the check just before 7:00pm. We paid at the table and departed.Overall, I wish we had been able to stay longer during dinner, I would have enjoyed tasting the Hot Brown or maybe the Shrimp and Grits, but it wasn't meant to be I guess."

We ordered several: baked goat cheese, spinach al forno and bruschetta plus the caprese salad (definitely shareable) and a margherita pizza. These came out quick, and our waiter was a help recommending what we should order.My favorite was the spinach al forno and caprese. I could eat those any day. We also got cocktails (of course). I got a cocktail with berries and bourbon in it. We ordered our food and drinks. I got a club sandwich and wife got chicken and rice. My daughters got chicken pasta and a kids chicken meal. It was all about 3 stars we came to the conclusion on the food. It looked better than it taasted but it was still pretty good overall. I would come back and try their chicken wings that they are known for. I would have given it a 4 but the taste for the price was just not there. I will try them again for the wings next time."

They didn't comprehend that we knew some of our party were already inside. Fortunately in their search for a table they came across a female employee that knew exactly where our party was seated. Whew!After being seated the server took our drink orders. Nothing too difficult, an unsweetened ice tea and a water. After the final two members of our party arrived and were served their drinks the server returned to take our food order.My husband ordered the Chile relleno dinner and I ordered the Taco salad with ground beef. Other members of our party had been to Garcia's before and Fish tacos seemed to be the dinner of choice. When served all the hot dinners came out first and I was told my salad was being made. No problem. Unfortunately I was less than impressed with my salad. There was NO meat of any kind. The lettuce chunks were way too big to stuff in my mouth. There were a number of strips of carrots that were three or four inches long and too chunky to cut in half. There was one small scoop of sour cream and guacamole on the top but otherwise the salad was quite dry and flavorless. I poured some left over salsa from the chips on too to make it edible. I think I ordered the wrong thing. The other dinners looked like they were all enjoyed but I did notice the gentleman across from me putting fork full scoops of salsa on his fish tacos.The waitress towards the end grumbled about her long working hours for the day so she wanted payments to be as easy as possible. Since I was seated at that end of the table I'm not sure if I was the only one that heard her grumbles. We were an easy group of diners that had not made many demands on her time.The best part of dinner, good company. Second best, good fresh salsa. After that I'm being generous with my rating based on others enjoying their dinners."
