And I honestly won't be back to this location because of it. Why spend $14 on a simple meal somewhere, and they try to skimp you?"

"My favorite spot to get fried tilapia, cooked carnitas and chicaron. They have plenty of produce selection-specially their giant avocados. I often get their pre chopped vegetables for caldos. It comes with peeled and cute potatoes, carrots, cilantro, and corn. The butcher is a great spot to get your ox tails and sausages. They also sell tamales here-my favorite is the chicken and the cheese."

"Caught this orange food truck out of the corner of my eye and naturally I whipped a U'y to scope it out. Aha, taco truck! Score!What I stumbled upon was a one man show taco truck. A lot of menu items were sold out by the time I got there so I kinda had to settle for 2nd choice items. I ended up with a pastor taco and a couple Campechano's. For taking orders and cooking at the same time I was impressed, he didn't leave people standing around but kept food coming out. At first glance, the tacos took me back to my childhood when my mom would take me to Mexico and we would stop at the first taco cart we saw. Yes, cart not truck. Small simple tacos with just cilantro and onion. These were the gone in two or three bite tacos I remember that were so addicting that they're ordered one at a time as if it were a sampling menu. I could imagine this place on a dirt road in Tijuana bustling with groups of people shouting "Otro más!" While small, I do think the price is fair considering what you'd pay anywhere else and these were not skimpy. The pastor tacos were good, not dry as I find at most places. The campechano tacos had chorizo and steak. The steak was noticeably marinated and wasn't just chopped up bits of steak like you find at every Mexican restaurant you find around here. I still can't tell if the tortillas were hand made or bought. Either way, they were really good. They weren't bland and had a fresh masa taste to them. They also held up well and didn't fall apart after the first bite. The tomatillo sauce was great. Not overly salty and added freshness. IMO, tomatillo should complement not steal or ruin the show and this did just that. I may or may not be spoiled from my childhood in LA and ventures to Mexico so I can be a tough critic on tacos, but I also have a soft spot for nostalgia. I think anywhere else I might give this a three, but for this region, four stars easily. The tortillas were so good. The meat wasn't just a filler protein. Shockingly the tomatillo sauce wasn't over salted like most places. Overall, everything I had was good and stood out ingredient wise. I don't think it would crack any of top spots but this is so much better than what I am used to around here. Come hungry, come early, and don't go far. This is taco's but taco cart style, a la carte."

"I'd like to start 2020 off with a review of a restaurant I knew existed, had been near countless times, but had never taken the opportunity to eat at. And I am now kicking myself in the pants for taking so long.Mi Preferida Restuarante is tucked away in the back of the Mi Preferida Supermercado. We've been into the store countless time because it's relatively close to home and they have some items we can only find there (Jalapeño Tostada shells!) I'd noticed the taqueria in the back but never really gave it much thought because sometimes Jim can be pretty narrowly focused and I didn't walk in to eat, I walked in to buy.On a recent Friday we stopped in to get a couple things (you guessed it, Jalapeño Tostada shells) and we hadn't decided where we were going to have dinner yet. When we walked in the door I noticed the arched doorway in the back and said to wifey "Wifey. What do you think about eating dinner here?". She said "Why not! We haven't eaten here before")Why we waited so long I don't know, but now I'm kicking myself for it.Mi Preferida isn't big on decor, being nestled in the back of a grocery store, but it's all about the food, and the food is amazingly authentic and amazingly awesome. And they have glass bottle beverages. Pepsi in a glass bottle is FAR superior to the stuff you get in cans and plastic bottles these days. I love the complete transparency of this restaurant. You can see the entirety of the operation when you walk up to the counter. The food prep area, the grills, the steam tables. It's all there in plain site, so there's no mystery about what you're getting and how it's being prepared. And the food is AB-so-lutely genuine and delicious.So it's not the fanciest Mexican restaurant in town, but it is some of the most authentic, genuine Mexican you'll find in town."

It's a small space but it wasn't busy when we came. There were booths open inside and a picnic table with two guys sitting outside.My friends got tacos. Carne asada, pollo, and chorizo. They thought they were decent. The pollo and carne asada were a bit dry. My sister thought the chorizo was the best out of the others. The salsa and sour cream helped though. The salsa was very spicy! But super good and flavorful. Loved it!I got a carne asada burrito. It was large! I only ate half. It had rice, cheese, beans, lettuce. It wasn't bad. But the carne asada was a bit dry for me too though the filling helped to combat that.Prices werent bad though. $11 for the burrito and $4 per taco isn't terrible for inflation.Parking was a little odd. They share the parking lot with other businesses. There were lots of spots open but it's not a large lot. It could get filled pretty fast."

"It's a little out of the way you can see it from hurstbourne but you have to go to the next light and turn... do so. Restaurant was well appointed and spacious. Very clean and pleasant ( except for the pan flute music, it wasn't horrible or pervasive but it was pan flute).I was there at 6pm on a Thursday and it was not busy. Staff was nice. I was seated quickly and my margarita came quickly ( a big plus) it was well within margarita standards. Salsa and chips appeared promptly and again were perfectly acceptable. Salsa was above average and was a nice size. Easily met my needs. Bills itself as Mexican/ Peruvian. Menu was pretty standard Mexican but included empanadas. I got the house special fajitas ( shrimp chicken beef chorizo and a small skirt steak) I was not displeased. Well cooked flavorful and a nice portion. Ordered beef empanadas to go, you have to ask because they only offer combo of buffalo chicken and beef ( not a fan of buffalo chicken as they usually use it as a way to use up substandard products) overall price and presentation was nice and reasonable for the area. As McArthur said I will return."

"Even though there at least a couple of other Mexican restaurants in Winchester, I was almost feeling sorry for Winchester and their lack of options. I've been to the other Mexican restaurants there, and those were old and lacking. This one is newer and seems cleaner than the others. I know, I know, you never know what the kitchen looks like, but if the dining decor and cleanliness are indications of the kitchen, then I'm happy. My mom won't even step out of the car, if a restaurant looks old or dirty. Obviously, I don't have that issue, but that's irrelevant here anyways.It is in an unassuming location, in the same strip mall as a nail salon and Sears. When I walked in there were several gentlemen at the register area, they all looked at me like I had four heads before saying anything. The hostess stand was a bit over from that area. Next time, I'll avoid that awkward silent stare down and head straight for the hostess stand. That's the end our my slight complaints here. The menu was plentiful, including pictures... I loved that, because we know us Yelpers love us some pictures. The lunch options are even offered on the weekends which I loved. I decided to go with the lunch portion of Pollo Bandido, at $6.49, I thought it was a steal. I dislike rice, so they let me substitute the rice for some fries. Side note... Heinz ketchup would've been nice, but I promised that I wouldn't complain, so I will be grateful that they at least had a generic version of ketchup. Everyone else in my party had chicken fajitas and they raved about them. I must say that they were huge, especially for lunch portions. Our waiter was extremely efficient and nice and joked around in Spanish with my husband. I really need to learn Spanish. He even brought out extra salsa bowls without rolling his eyes, like some places do when I ask. Side note, I like to double dip, so I want my own bowl of salsa... TMI, I know, but now you know."

"I have noticed El Bracero right beside the freeway in Owensboro. I had done some research on it and it sounded intriguing enough to give it a try. It turns out that it is in a old Logan's Roadhouse.The salsa was good but on the more vinegar side. My sweet tea was refreshingly sweet.For my entree, I went with the Mexican Flag Enchiladas since I'm a sauceaholic. The Enchiladas came stuffed with chicken with one with salsa Verde, another with Ranchero, and another with cheese sauce. The chicken was marinated and seasoned but it was on the dry side. The meal does come with a Mexican salad of sour cream, Pico de Gallo, guacamole, and that waste of space - lettuce. Rice came with the entree. The Enchiladas needed more of something in my opinion but they were all right.I would estimate here again but it's also another run of the mill Mexican restaurant in a old Logan's."

They had a very nice food selection and their quesadilla selection had much more than the usual cheese or meat options. "Mama Tequila is an interesting concept by the same folks that own El Rancho Tapatio. Mexican restaurant by day and then at 10pm converts into a full blown dance club. I was intrigued to try it out but finding a menu online was a chore as they don't really seem to promote their food offerings anywhere. If you are looking for basket after basket of chips and salsa you'll want to look elsewhere. Chips and salsa are on the menu but are a paid appetizer. I've saw other reviews mention lime margaritas but the menu we were given only had more upscale cocktails which was a bit odd compared to a menu of everyday Mexican entrees. Being a new restaurant they are still working out some service kinks but nothing that was an issue. While the food was good, it is likely a one and done for me unless I'm in the area for an event and just can't do without some tacos. Overall though it was nothing exceptional so not worth paying the downtown location markup on prices vs just going to their other location."

"When looking for this location just look for the church next to it. The sign doesn't stand out and you might just miss this hot spot. I am a huge fan of my mothers cooking. Growing up I had, Mole, barbacoa and menudo. I've tried them all at so many places, but they just don't seem to get it right. I'm guessing because they make them in a hurry or cut corners abs just all in all don't care. But when I sunk my teeth into the barbacoa tacos I was taken back in time to when my mom would cook them for me when I was a child and what trip it was! It's like I was back home eating freshly made tortillas with barbacoa. It's the kind of feeling that make your whole body do a happy shake. You know the kind. When you have just hit that spot in your belly , mouth and mind. The mole was soo on point that I ate it all! I licked the plate clean. Yes I licked it clean. That's how good it was! If you have never had mole then you are missing out. Then again it is an acquired taste. If you want to make the drive out to this little divine place where the food taste like it was made with a little love, the. This is your place. Now if your wanting to visit on a Sunday be prepared to wait over an hour. It's small little destination restaurant. But it's so well worth the wait. You could always go during the week where it's not so busy and you can be in and out. This place may be small but the taste of the food packs a punch in your mouth so good it will leave you wanting more. I mean I did. I've been back 3 times already and having it for dinner tonight. If your looking for authentic food, then this is your place! If your still not sure based on Thai review then just go and try it out for yourself. Your mouth will thank me! Also take care of the servers as they work so hard to take care of you."

"My last review for this place was mediocre at best and in it I stated how I felt this place used to be a lot better. Based on my most recent visit, either that last visit was an outlier or Acapulco is on the upswing again.The menu is standard but there are some goodies to be found and from what I can tell they do the standards well. The salsa is solid and if you're not a cilantro fan it doesn't taste as if that's present. The house-made hot sauce is delicious though--order some and mix it in with the salsa to give it a kick or if you like it really spicy, try it straight.I had the carnitas this time around and they were delicious--slow cooked, flavorful, juicy, simple and straightforward. They served them with fresh soft tortillas so I was able to assemble 3 tacos with fresh pork, guacamole (served on the platter), fresh tomatoes, and some of that house hot sauce. I also added a tamale on the side to see how they did those, and it was a larger tamale than expected but very good and slathered in red sauce AND queso.My dining partner had a very complicated and picky order and they handled her requests perfectly.The service was super-friendly--fast, kind, efficient. They checked on us often (but not overbearingly) and even provided freebies!I mentioned last time it felt like it could use a clean-up and some lighting--this time around, everything was well lit and clean, and the bathrooms were spotless. While I didn't partake, I noticed the happy-hour sign on the way to he rest room and it's ridiculously cheap ($3 mugs of import beer, 2 for 1 margaritas, $4 tequila sunrise, etc.)."

"I'm surprised no one has reviewed this popular gem! We chose this place based on the packed parking lot every time we've driven by. Today was just as packed with the lunch crowd. The food is authentic beginning with the complimentary chips and homemade just spicy enough salsa. My husband ordered the Chicken Quesadilla which I tasted and it was delicious - crispy grilled flour tortilla and the chunky shredded chicken was fresh from a grilled chicken breast. He loved it. The refried beans and fluffy rice were very flavorful and light (not greasy).I ordered the Chiles Rellenos with chicken and red sauce. The poblano pepper is just a notch spicier than a green bell pepper, which is perfect for this gal who likes spicy but not melt your face off heat. Watch out for the seeds though, they're the devil. The poblano was perfectly roasted, stuffed with the tender, juicy shredded chicken chunks and topped with an amazing "red" sauce. It was heavenly! Refried beans and rice also accompanied this dish.Friendly staff that speaks English well. Clean and nice, lively atmosphere. Well worth a short drive from I-75 if you're traveling through, or like myself and hubby - plan to become a regular at this amazing establishment!"

"Stopped in Winchester, Kentucky for the night. Staying at Holiday Inn Express, this was across the bypass road. Greeted and seated as we entered and given water, chips and salsa right away. They have a very extensive menu. I chose the seafood nachos. Yummy, lots of shrimp, fish, fake crab and scallops. Lots of grilled onions and peppers. I asked for guacamole on top and it also came with sour cream and lots of cheese. Hubby ordered his usual steak quesadilla There was a sauce on it that he wasn't too keen on but said it was good. Place appeared clean."
