I truly loved the cake but I am still upset at the quality of my "custom" experience and lack there of on my cake. I was charged too much (more than regular off the shelf cake) and was given a less than customized product. I didn't appreciate her saying that the cake I chose from the Yelp picture was what they "used to do" but the picture was from 3 months ago. I have made future customers from everyone I had try it but I hope they don't receive a bad experience because I truly believe in this company and their product."

For our wedding, we ordered 70 parfaits in 4 assorted flavors that were absolutely phenomenal. She even created some for us prior to the wedding for us to have a tasting of what to expect. We booked with her a year in advanced, and we found this to be ideal to plan ahead.All parfaits were ready at the time she said they were going to be. She does deliver for a fee, but we opted to have someone pick them up instead since it didn't make sense to us to have it delivered. Everyone's needs are different. What we ordered and the quality of the product matched. She was really nice to allow us to pay over time for our items instead of one installment as well. "My fiance and I met with Jennifer from Bake my Day yesterday. After that meeting we are 100% certain we do not want to use her service. She cancelled our appointment last week and this week, tried to cancel about 20 minutes before the appointment ( we were already en route) When we arrived there, she was very rude. We could tell she did not want to be there, and was irritated that Mary was telling her that she needed to be, or that we just did not want to move our appointment again. She also did not want to provide us with the quote, because the venue would be paying for the cake; not understanding, that any overage in the cost, would result in us paying the difference. Which necessitates my need for seeing that quote. The cake was delicious and had we been treated better, there might have been a sale. But in the service industry, you can not trample your customers events because of your bad mood. We will be meeting with other bakeries this week and next week to decide the vendor we would like to use to provide the cake. But after the show we got yesterday from Bake my Day, it will not be that one. I now understand why she has such GLOWERING reviews on Social Media, Wedding Wire and Google Forums."

Today I stopped in after work to see what was available and was met with a young gentleman working behind the counter. He was engrossed in something but finally looked up to greet me. I asked what flavor a cinnamon roll was as it was smaller then the regular rolls, the pistachio roll and the chocolate looking one. He had no idea. I asked if the baklava was made by them, again he had no idea. I asked about another item and again, he didn't know the answer. He didn't offer to go find anyone to obtain the answer either so I thanked him and walked out. I will give this bakery another try as it is the only bakery around this area but hoping for better next time ;)."

I actually came across there location during a light up Fairdale holiday event. They had a booth selling a wide variety of there goods. Me and the family got a good sampling. We ordered some cookies and fudge. I personally got a mint Bourbon fudge. Everything we tasted here had good flavor and was tasty. My mint bourbon was unique. I've had mint Chocolate and have had bourbon chocolate but never a mixture. It was good. Had a nice flavor and a nice amount of the bourbon taste as well. Overall they have some cool and unique dessert options that were tasty. I'm very curious to what there storefront cafe has to offer and have this on my to do list to return and check out."

"We heard about La Morena through Yelp's virtual event with Farm + House and decided to visit this bakery in person to check it out. As we parked we noticed that OPEN light was off. It was an afternoon so we thought maybe they had closed, but when we were through shopping at the small Mexican grocery next door the sign was lit, so we went in. It's a small business and our visit was in the middle of a pandemic, so odd hours are understandable.The storefront is recognizable if you've been to other panaderias: trays and tongs for self-service, glass-doored cases with shelves of panes dulces and breads, a refrigerator with packaged slices of cake. True to their name, they also carry tortillas, chips, and bags of masa (the latter found in the refrigerated case). The pastry selection is pretty standard: conchas, donuts, filled pastries, orejas, marranitos, tri-color cookies, etc. At the counter, there's a book with images of cakes that can be special ordered.I thought we went overboard selecting pastries on our first visit, but for only $8 we got half a dozen cookies/pastries and a piece of tres leches cake. It was a steal; all were good. We've also ordered through Farm+House, which is nice since La Morena is a drive for us. This has enabled us to try more items, including their telera rolls, tortillas, and tortilla chips.It's definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. If you aren't in the area, maybe manufacture and excuse to be so you can check out these baked goods."

"Kathy has always provided wonderful food at her places. I will separate my review between food and sweets. I don't fully understand the merger between Kathy and Spoonful of Sugar - but I'm glad it happened. Maybe Kathy does the hot food and the original person still does the bakery - I'm not sure. Before Kathy took over, I do recall Spoonful of Sugar being closed during court day and I had messaged them to ask when they would be open. Courtday is only the biggest tourist attraction in our area and as a local business you would think they would want to be open during the heaviest foot traffic of the entire year, but they responded they wanted to attend court day so they were going to be closed. I thought that was very strange. I hope with the new structure - they will be open during court days going forward. Food - I love Kathy's salads, breakfast, grouper fingers, and so much more. Literally everything I have had has been wonderful. She makes amazing homemade ranch dressing and beer cheese as well and you must try them both. I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner. The steak salad is amazing and I ask them to keep the fat on, cause that's the way I like it. The coleslaw is so creamy and delicious, I have purchased a large container to take home for dinner sides back when she was still at the country club. There are some breakfast sandwiches that you have to try! And I am not a big breakfast lover, but the croissants here are to die for. So buttery and soft - and then pile it high with ham, egg, and cheese - oh lord! Sweets - Before Kathy took over Spoonful of Sugar, I was never a fan of any of the sweets here. Sadly, I have to say that is still the case. I have tried nearly everything in the store, but have yet to find a sweet treat that I love here. Let me go into more detail: The mini pies - I attempted to purchase a mini butterscotch pie and when I got it home, it was a chocolate pie even though it was labeled as butterscotch. I tried it and wasn't crazy about it but I still wanted to try the butterscotch pie so I tried again. I was quite disappointed in the crust, it was very tough and you could not get a fork through it. The pie filling was just ok and the topping was just ok. Not something I would buy again.Cookies - I have tried several of the cookies on many occasions but each time the cookies are very crunchy. I know some people like crunchy cookies, but I am a soft and chewy kind of cookie girl. When I say soft - I mean SOFT like nearly falling apart and gooey. If you can hold it upright and it doesn't start to lean a little, then it simply isn't soft enough for my liking. I gave up trying to get a soft cookie after a few purchases and realized these cookies were just not my style.Chess bars - I love a good chess bar - but each time I tried these they seemed to be overcooked and slightly burned.Cupcakes.- ok, cupcakes are my absolute favorite thing. There used to be a wonderful place in town to get cupcakes called Swirlz and I was a regular there. When they went out of business I was hoping there would be some sort of collaboration because those were the most delicious cupcakes I've ever had in my life. I want to see creative flavors - chocolate peanut butter and butterfinger were my favorites. I'm not crazy about the cupcakes here, both the cake portion or the icing. I guess I keep comparing it to Swirlz and it doesn't compare in my opinion so I guess I'm disappointed in anything that doesn't come close to those. As you can see - I've tried the sweets on many occasions - but after so much disappointment for me I had to stop trying the sweets. I think a lot of people in town love them - but none of them seem to be my personal style that I like so unfortunately I can't find anything in the sweets area here for me."
