We have ridden on a lot of trail rides and this one was great! I highly recommend it. Drew and Emily make sure that you are well suited for the horses and that you have a good time

Can't agree enough with what everyone else has said. Best trail riding experience hands down, and I have done trail rides across the world! Drew was an amazing guide and teacher, and even though we were all different experience levels (beginner to experienced) he made sure we all had a great time. Also, the horses were really healthy and happy. You can tell Drew and Emily care about their animals and their land, which really enhanced the whole experience.We told multiple folks in Louisville that we had gotten the chance to ride across some beautiful rolling hills in Harrodsburg and they all said, "That's as Kentucky as it gets!" So if you're looking for a truly authentic Kentucky experience, even if riding is not your thing, go here!

I don't have much to add to the prior reviews, but just wanted to add a belated thank you to Emily for a spectacular experience when we visited Kentucky in September 2018. She is an extremely friendly, generous, and personable host. We loved our laid-back ride (neither of us was particularly experienced, I'd ridden a horse once before in my life, and my wife had not before this trip). If you're in the neighborhood, definitely take the time to spend an afternoon here, it was one of the highlights of our weekend!

My husband who has zero hours in the saddle had the best time yesterday because of Emily and her super well trained mounts. I am the horse person of the couple and I was very careful choosing a barn where both of us would have fun. I didn't want to do a boring nose to butt ride. And I wanted him to feel safe. Perfect solution--Big Red Stables! Emily is a lovely and attentive host, very in tune with horses and guests. Best ride in years! Great! Lovely! And beautiful scenery. This was exactly what we were looking for. Drew fit us in on a beautiful and very personal horseback riding tour. He fit the horses to our experience level and (accidentally) to our personalities. From the very beginning he stated time wasn't a concept and we were just going to go with the flow. We heard his life story, his family and farm history, a lot about Kentucky and farming. I felt so at ease the entire time as well as trusted with my horse. He checked in here and there but mostly let us explore the beautiful countryside. I can't express enough how much we loved spending our morning with him and his precious animals. I would travel across the US again - and again and again to visit and ride. Thank you so much for such an amazing experience. If you're ever in Kentucky - this is a MUST.

Originally from Chicago, here for a few days and took my mom here for her birthday. The experience was quite amazing. Drew was very hospitable and really customized our experience. Our trail ride with Emily and Drew was amazing. My mom and I were looking for an adventurous ride and Emily and Drew delivered. We climbed hills, walked through water and got to see calves and cattle. The horses were very well behaved and we really enjoyed our conversations with Emily and Drew. This is not your typical trail riding experience. The views are amazing and we even got to lope up some hills. We couldn't be happier with our experience!

When my husband said he would like to go on a trail ride on the last day of our vacation I really didn't think we would find anyone who would be able to accommodate on short notice. Emily (aunt) and Emily (niece) made it happen. The horses were amazing and the farm with its cattle and rolling hills was magical. This family farm is a very special place and I would recommend it to anyone looking to spend some time on a horse while in horse country. We enjoyed the horses and the scenery and the conversation! Can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review, but I wanted to make sure I did because we had such a lovely time (we went in May). We also enjoyed the opportunity to groom the horses. We were going to ride with Emily but ended up riding with Drew because of weather/timing. He was great, just down to earth and nice and cracking little jokes here and there. Very low-key. The landscape was just breathtaking. I grew up in Lexington and I didn't know that this was here, an hour away. Wow. Riding through those beautiful bluegrass hills made me so proud to be a Kentuckian. I can't wait to go back next time I'm in town!!!
