Absolutely incredible place, amazing Barn8 on Hermitage Farm in Louisville is a unique farm-to-table restaurant and is located in what was originally **building number 8 of Hermitage Farm's historic horse stables. Executive Chef Seth Kinder does a seasonal menu using sustainable ingredients from the restaurant's on-site gardens, greenhouse, and neighboring farms. The bourbon bar at Barn8 features bourbons from many distilleries on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, as well as small-batch selections and craft distillery pours. I got done great deals on Old Forester and Yellowstone. My guests enjoyed their meals. Mine was a little dry. A crusted pork tenderloin which is hard to keep that moist. Good service great desserts, great bourbon. Absolutely a place you should experience and walk around the place at night, super cool

As much as I would like to say that I love this restaurant, I can't in good conscience write a good review. This is my third time eating here and my experience in the most recent visit was the worst. The other two experiences were not what I expected but this visit was ridiculously bad. First, we waited a good 5 minutes before even being greeted at the hostess desk. It was obvious there was not enough help and the hostess was serving water. But absolutely no acknowledgment at all even by other staff members to say "someone will be with you in just a sec". It is obvious this chef is attempting to provide a menu of very eclectic cuisine. Even though I respect the creativity, IMHO, he/she is off base with the vision. This historic farm deserves a menu that honors the Kentucky traditions that people appreciate about Kentucky. And nothing could be further from that in this menu. I had the NEW Fall menu and quite honestly found it hard finding anything that was appealing. The cornbread that is considered an appetizer, was medium warm and dry. We have had it before and found it to be a good way to start the meal. I had the scallops that evening and they were full of grit which indicates they were not washed well. They were slightly warm and the sides were pickled vegetables that were ice cold. This was an 7:15 dinner. I barely touched my meal and when the waiter asked how everything was, I said it was just OKAY but it was clear he didn't want any more information about my dissatisfaction with the dish. This venue is unique and deserves a menuThat matches the ambiance of the farm. I would say to the chef. KISS! Keep it Simply Simple! And you will attract a more loyal following at this beautiful addition to Louisville's culinary scene.

We made the trek out to Barn8 for my parents wedding anniversary, and it was well worth it! The farm itself was very picturesque, so save a little time before or after your meal to walk around. We were seated right on time for our reservation, and we got to sit in one of the horse stalls! Although the ambience was there, the smell was not, thankfully. It was a nice private dining experience. We were worried that we would be forgotten, being so tucked away, but our waitress was attentive and timely with everything. We started with cocktails, which were outstanding, and ordered bread and salads to start. From the beginning, everything was fresh and delicious. The entrees continued that trend. Again, the kitchen was quick and efficient, and we didn't have to wait long at all. I got the spaghetti with clams and mussels, which was incredible. The spaghetti was made in house and cooked perfectly, and the shellfish was excellent and not at all rubbery. And the sauce was spectacular. My parents got pasta and fish, seen in pictures, and they were pleased with their dinners too. Since we shared that my parents were celebrating their anniversary, we received a complimentary dessert, which was so nice of them. It was the perfect way to end the meal. Everything here was outstanding, from the food to the service and the ambiance- definitely worth the trip.

What a different experience this was! The restaurant and bar is located in an old stable and you can actually dine in a horse stall. Perfect for larger parties, more privacy or good for kids. They have an extensive drink menu, if it's made in Kentucky it's on their menu. I had the pretty little thing, vodka and Prosecco, yes please! Make sure to get the bread and butter plate. Cornbread was good but the bread plate was much better. For appetizers we tried the salad, tuna and yuca fries. Yuca was a little fishy tasting but could have just been bad batch. Salad was fresh and flavorful, fries were delicious We were all happy with our meals. Steak, fish, pasta everyone was pleased. I wish they would have used a bit less salt on the fish but the flavors aside from that were great. Save room for dessert because the peanut butter mouse, cold brew cake and ice cream hit the spot! Check the menu before booking, they change it seasonally.

Dining group of 7 visited on a Sunday evening for dinner as a selection on our tour of local fine dining establishments. The venue is unique and is in a repurposed large barn. Dining tables are placed in separate stalls for more intimate atmosphere or choice of long tables placed in the large central open area of the barn. Views out to the pasture are postcard worthy. Service was excellent and pleasant without being obtrusive. Wonderful setting for a special occasion, but easily casual and laidback. We started with cocktails and wine. I chose an appetizer of shrimp toast to share. Main entree selection was lamb chops, which were tender and juicy, perfectly prepared medium rare. We sampled several desserts, which were all deliciously decadent and presentation was excellent. Price point was as expected based on selection, quality, venue, and service. Would gladly return to dine again. Plenty of parking and accessibility might be hindered a bit by having to traverse a gravel parking lot.

I have some thoughts about my dining experience at Barn8:Location: very, very far away. If dining after dark be very intentional about looking for signs. The restaurant is tucked away down a single-lane road and the parking lot is not directly in front. One must park, then traverse a sidewalk, walk down some stairs, and cross some gravel before finding the entrance.Ambience: gorgeous. The grounds, the facility, the décor, the co-ed bathrooms - all exquisite. I also appreciate the unique mixed dishes and silverware.Service: fantastic. From the host to the servers to the busser everyone was polite, friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. All questions were answered and our table felt very cared for.Food: this is where my experience was less than perfect. There are limited vegan options for starters/shared plates and entrees. That said, the menu helpfully designates (v) for vegetarian and (vv) for vegan, however there aren't many (vv) options. Of note, the focaccia and sourdough are both vegan and both are very lovely. Our server helpfully informed me that the mushroom risotto is vegan as long as the parmesan is omitted, and since I love mushrooms AND risotto opted for this. The dish arrived hot and beautifully presented, however it was incredibly salty. Several of my dining companions who ordered the non-vegan version noted the same. Overall Barn8 is a beautiful, welcoming, unique dining establishment that is slightly difficult to find and could do more to cater to plant based diners. If you go, the chocolate sorbet (vv) is divine - definitely get this.

What a delightful experience for our party of 7. We dined in one of the stable rooms, and received excellent service and attention from our waitress. The drinks were unique and tasty, as was the food. We enjoyed the greenhouse and walking along the trail. Unfortunately, it wasn't dark enough to see the lighted art show. I would love to go back in the autumn to see that and try the fall seasonal menu.

Had a lovely evening again at Barn8. It's a cool spot for out of town guests. Barn is well restored, full of different art genres, and classical elements as well. Sunset over the grounds is always lovely and followed by an after dark art walk is highly recommended. Food is better than our past visits - have definitely improved. Portions are a bit small for the price. Also felt a bit rushed by the servers at times. Maybe they needed the table? Either way, it was a fun evening again.

The whole aesthetic of place is absolutely beautiful from the horses roaming next to the drive way to the restaurant to the horse stalls inside the restaurant. I had never had a dinning experience like this before. While the ambiance was off the charts, unfortunately the portion size of my entree (for the price + the fact that it came with no sides) and the service were a bit of a let down. Our waiter was not sure of a few ingredients listed on the menu and had to go ask and come back - which it totally fine, but with a limited menu it just seemed odd. I also asked for a dessert menu before we ordered our food so I could narrow down what I wanted for the evening. For my entree I ordered the salmon en papiilote which was delicious and flavorful. It was a beautiful dish. The salmon filet was small which could have been fine if there was additional food served with it (rice or more green beans). Towards the end of my meal I overheard our waiter telling another table that they sold out of the deconstructed apple pie last night. Which was another bummer because that was the dessert I was going to order. I just wish he had prefaced it in the beginning when he handed me the menu. The restrooms were a fun and interesting experience. They have individual stalls for women, men, and unisex all housed in the same place so you share the sink and towel paper area with whomever is in there. They have delightful sounds of chickens playing in the restroom as well as stuffed chickens in a chicken coop which we all found to be pretty funny. After dinner we did the Art Walk and I highly recommend it if you have the opportunity. It was difficult to see where we were walking in some areas so we used the flashlight feature on phones to guide us. But the projections were incredible. I definitely have not experienced anything like that before. I definitely want to try this place again and would love to go on the Art Walk again.

My first visit to Barn8 was amazing! We did not have reservations so we sat in the bar for drinks, appetizers, and dessert. It was all delicious and the atmosphere was great too. I'm excited to return for a full meal another time. This is the closest thing I have found to Napa style restaurant food in the Louisville area. Everything was so fresh, bright and flavorful. Creative menu, including the cocktails and desserts. Randi was a complete gem! She definitely knows her stuff and gave great suggestions and information. So glad I discovered Barn8!
