If you're not familiar with the shops along Bardstown road then this is a fun and festive way to check them out!Shopping online is convenient but it will never be equivalent to the physical experience associated with a brick and mortar store. And there are several unique and locally owned stores along this strip; food and drink, coffee, sweet treats, thrift, clothing, gift, tattoo, art, book, music, and more.Several merchants had beautiful holiday light displays and the trolley runs continuously up and down Bardstown Rd offering free rides. Catching the trolley is easy, just wave and it stops.I'm only giving 4 stars because I expected to see tables/booths set up outside the stores to give it that festival vibe, but I was disappointed that very few did this. Overall it was a laid back pleasant experience and my partner and I hope to make it a tradition

It's December and Louisville loves it holiday markets, festivals, and neighborhood gatherings. Bardstown Road Aglow is all these things. It can also be considered a cookie hide and go seek. Most of the merchants along Bardstown Rd open their doors and offer free snacks to entice folks in off the street. With beautiful weather in the 50s, we started down by Day's Coffee with our first stop at St. James Catholic Church. The parish had a huge cookie and hot cider table set up out front and the Church was open to view (lovely architecture) and enjoy music from several choirs and the parish organist. We headed up Bardstown towards the Loop, but I think we should have gone the other direction. Although there was much to see (& eat) the way we went, I missed the holiday market at Molly Malone's and street party atmosphere of lower Bardstown Rd. As expected for a Sat night, even when there's nothing going on, parking is challenging and there are pedestrians everywhere. Some, smaller stores can feel a tad claustrophobic, but there's plenty to see out on the sidewalks!

Bardstown Road Aglow is an annual event put on by the Highlands Commerce Guild. The event starts at Dusk and is kicked off by lighting the Christmas Tree at Bardstown and Grinstead. There also numerous shopping specials, many stores offer refreshments and snacks, live music and a trolley. Bardstown is great fun for individuals or families and attracts many visitors. It can be difficult to find parking at the best of times, and especially during this event so it pays to come early. Another thing to keep in mind, if you are planning to use the trolleys is that there are two trolleys with routes to the east and west of Eastern Parkway along Bardstown Rd.

Great Fun! Totally a free event, trolly rides up and down the corridor. I love the Tree lightning at Wendy's at corner of Grinstead Drive with Santa and carolers at 6pm. Santa sets up at Eastern parkway and we got pictures. Trolley runs continually from Baxter Ave to Douglas Loop. Start at the first participating shop Renaissance by Design, 544 Baxter Ave, roast marshmallows in their garden, shop, hop on trolley and visit all participating shops along the corridor. It was great to be able to go into shops at night when they aren't normally open. Look forward to it each year. Family tradition.
