This set of trails apparently belongs to a local private college that I hadn't heard of. They are open to the public, and it wasn't hard to drive and park here. The trails cover a wide variety of environments, reaching a meadow where the power lines through and going down into the ravine which holds the Kentucky River. Once you're down there, a long path runs under the riverside cliffs. As is often the case in this region, the scenery is pretty, but on the difficult side. Many of the trails are narrow and covered with gravel or mud, and are high enough in spots that a slip could carry some significant consequences. There were plenty of bugs as well. But I managed to get a solid two-hour workout/scenic visit in. It's free and it's not far from Lexington.

What a hidden gem! After spending a few years in Kentucky, I couldn't believe that I've only recently heard about Asbury trails. Everyone swarms to the Red River Gorge for the outdoors, but these are a great alternative for those look for hiking trials and don't want to drive as far or commit to a whole day of activities. As someone who is somewhat active and has done my fair share of hiking, I would say none of these trails are difficult. It took me only a couple of hours to complete most of these trails combined (as they are all connected). I was pleasantly surprised by the landscape. One moment you feel like you've descended deep into the woods, and the next you are walking next to giant boulders of rocks. Make sure to wear appropriate shoes as some trails can be slippery when wet. Bonus point -- it is dog friendly! **Pro tip: There are 5 trails. Browse the link below and get an idea of the scenery, length, and difficulty of each of the trails before you go.https://jessaminetrails.com/asbury-college-trails/

've heard about these trails but never met anyone who has been on them so I had to make the trek to Asbury Trails to check them out. They are on my top 3 hikes in Central KY now.

Very nice set of trails with absolutely outstanding informational brochures written clearly and packed with helpful information about the geology, landscape, and history of the area. Learned a lot and had a wonderful afternoon outside.

The Asbury Trails have been closed since March 2024. No reason as to why they're closed and no information as to when or if they will be open again. This is disappointing and frustrating as we used to love going here

The trails are very beautiful. The scenery is worth the hike back up. Wilmore is a delightful small town and thank you national state parks for another great reminder that we are a live today. Let's all learn together, work together, love together. We are each other's voice and song. All the songs may sing but if wasn't for rhythm and harmony, chaos will gather and no one will have joy and love. Gratitude is the first and last thoughts of this day and I believe many more days to come for many us. We can and will do better for each other. The sun wouldn't come out tomorrow, without tomorrow. Thank you for humbling me and allowing me to see how this amazing gift for what it is. Observe with your eyes, listen with your ears, be mindful of your heart, lungs produce need air flow, liver filter and stores the blood, kidneys are our filter, n Nurture, Nourish, and value your own beliefs. The human spirit is alive today.
