A.J. Jolly Golf Course

I was a bit underwhelmed with A.J. Jolly as a park--the playground equipment is spread out all over the place and a bit run-down and out of date. If you're looking for that kind of experience with that age group, there are other parks in the area that are significantly better (Alexandria Community Park, for one). If, however, you are going for other activities--the golf course, the horse trails, and maybe water activities (fishing, and I also saw one kayak-er there), it could be a wonderful place. Having not personally experienced any of the above, I can't specifically comment on those, but those seem to be more of the focus of this particular park. One thing I didn't realize before I went is that this is a paid-entrance park. A day pass is $5 for a family/carload; season passes are $15 for Campbell County residents and $20 for non-residents.

This was my first time at AJ Jolly Golf Course, and I was very pleased with the beautiful golf course and friendly staff. Special thanks to Mr. Terry Jolly for being such a great host.

For 12 years, A.J. Jolly Golf Course has hosted the Jimmy Geiman Jr. Memorial Golf Outing on the 3rd Friday of June. We chose the course because of its beauty, its well manicured course, and the staff. Mr. Terry Jolly has always provided great accommodations for the registration crew, the golfers, the caterer and of course, me & Jim. We have never run out of beverages on the course or at the shelter. We have raised thousands of dollars with just the outing and sadly we are calling it quits this year. Our volunteer staff & Jim & I are running out of steam & the next generation doesn't want to take it over. We have saved enough money to continue to give Scholarships to deserving seniors at Campbell County High School for many years to come. We would love to fill up the second placque with forty names on it before we die. We were assisting hardship cases & donating to charitable organizations, but we may have to put those efforts on the back burner, making the scholarships our top priority. It's all bittersweet, but it was time. Thank you so much Terry & crew.

What a beautiful park located in Southern Campbell County. It is a very large park that is under used by the community. They have horse trials, camp grounds, frisbee golf course, sports fields, a beautiful huge lake, and a brand new stage right on the water. It is a great place to take the family and enjoy nature. There are good things happening at this park and will only be getting better. It is a great park to go running and do training runs. There are plenty of hills and well as good flat area. The AJ Jolly Festival is held each summer and is a great time! With music, vendors, kids activities, 5k & 10k race, and food. Best of all its all free! The park could use a dog off leash area to round it out but not a big deal.

Don't go to this park for the horse trails. They are most often closed during the best ridding weather. Out of 12 attempts at riding the trails in the past three years I have been turned away all but 2 times for various reasons. Defiantly not a horse friendly park.
