There is only one thing better than good barbecue, meeting the celebrity chef that prepared it. The restaurant is filled with a really good after church crowd dressed in their Sunday's best. Dining in and placing orders to go. Delicious smells of smoky goodness fill the air. Ordered the rib tips with fries, smoked chicken with mac and cheese, peach cobbler, corn muffins and one strawberry lemonade. Everything was pretty good. Plan to return soon to try the brisket sandwich lunch special. Truly enjoy my cooking shows and I have watched Dominique on four. More than seeing her in action in the kitchen, I am most impressed with the fight in her and her story of triumph.

So glad we stopped here instead of getting a blah sandwich! Rib Tips were 9/10. Brisket was melt in your mouth. Baked beans fye. Corn muffin fye. Sausage good. Peach cobbler was giving brown sugar warmth. Highly recommend this BBQ spot. The only thing I didn't care for was the fact they ran out of banana pudding cause my big back self wanted some They also have vegan options if that's your vibe. The owner came around and greeted everyone. She was super warm and welcoming. Support this Black woman owned business and get you a plate.

The smells were enticing, the environment of the restaurant was clean and inviting, the service personable and professional and the food was on point and poppin'!I had the vegan pulled chicken and a side of tips and the fries. The vegan sandwich was made with jackfruit...I've hade jackfruit a which before and this one was just ok. I think for me the sauce was too mild and sweet. It lacked the Smokey hint of spice that I like on anything bbq. But the tips carried the show. The tips were Smokey and, tender but a small portioned add on. The fries were good they were seasoned well and hot and crispy, so I was a happy camper.Overall, the experience was pleasant. I did dine with a friend and we sat, are and played catch up very comfortably. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is rather pricey. I had bottled water for my drink and all in, my ticket was just short of $30. That's an expensive lunch if you ask me. But if you ask if I'd go again...I would.

I ordered the jackfruit sandwich with fries. The flavor was very good, but the jackfruit would be better if it were shredded. The fries were good, but needed to be a little bit more crispy. I loved the spicy sweet pickles on the sandwich. I ordered peach cobbler. I had planned to eat half and save half for later. It was so good I ate all of it. The young lady working the register was extremely nice and answered all of my questions being that it was my first time there. Most people took their order to go, but there was one staff meeting happening. There was limited seating if you wanted to eat there. It was difficult finding a parking space. I appreciated the gospel music videos.

I have been trying to get here since they opened. I ordered the loaded fries with brisket and when I tell you even though I'm trying to unbig my back; these loaded fries are beyond deliciousness. Absolute heaven. The young man who took my order was the best. The ambiance was also top drawer. This is my new spot for amazing food. The way these loaded fries are hitting my palette with flavor, yummy to my tummy. I got the rib tips for later and banana pudding (don't judge me lol). The rib tips are for my daughter.

We were sadly disappointed after getting our food home. Maybe that was it we should've eaten at the restaurant. I was so looking forward to finding "" our barbecue spot" especially after sitting for approximately 30 minutes and speaking to prior customer that raved over the food-- now that I think about it, she said that she and her church members eight at the restaurant the first time and the food was great. Not so for us. The ribs were tough and overcooked to the point of being dry and to the point where they choked you. I don't think Chef Leach knows Her staff is putting out this quality of food.

NO, NO AND NO! Let me start by saying that I come from a long line of black business owners, entrepreneurs and restaurateurs so to say I support black businesses is an understatement. It's literally in my blood. My great grandparents owned the premier barbeque restaurant in Bronzeville in the 40's and 50's. Maternal great grandfather built a custom brick pit in our backyard. My cousin and I would ride in the back of the paternal aunt's Caddy to go on her twice weekly shopping trips to the wholesale food markets. She owned several high grade restaurants in the 70's and 80's. I've had barbeque all over Chicago and in Texas, Memphis, Kansas City and Mississippi. I can put together a meal of the Thai, Italian, Indian, Creole, Belizean and soul variety. Simply put, I know food, the good, the exquisite, the sublime and the subpar. So tell me, please tell me, how do you have a barbeque restaurant, with the word SMOKEHOUSE in the name of the establishment, with nary a whiff of smoke to be smelled or tasted?? My husband and I pass this place at least twice a month when we go to check on his Mom. So we gave them a try. We anticipated the familiar comforting tang of smoked meat. We quickly realized that there was a distinct lack of that familiar olfactory delight. And yet we held out hope, like two orphans at Christmas. Unfortunately, we were just as cruelly tricked and bamboozled. From experience, we knew to check the food. The first sign that things were amiss was the lack of bread with either order of "smoked" chicken dinner or rib tips and a hot link. I don't eat white bread but it was a definite sticking point with hubby. There was a 50 cents up charge for the bread, he was told by the smiling counter worker. Huh? We don't normally split hairs over such a small amount but the principle of the matter came into play. Most Barbeque joints provide bread; it's a long standing practice. Um, apparently not here. So the fact that we are new customers with the potential to be repeat customers meant nothing to our cheery counter worker. I swear, the concept of serving the customer and retaining business is as antique as the gramophone in our high turnover, fast food, throw away society. Note that a whole loaf of cheap bread can cost as little as 2.50, cheaper if it's bought in bulk or wholesale. So we get this non fragrant food home, ready to tear into it and savor the flavor. But WHERE IS THE SMOKE? Where's the smell and or taste of hickory or cherry or mesquite? The chicken that I received was baked, at best. Maybe oven broiled but if that chicken saw a wood fire or even a piece of charcoal, then so did I. So since I don't have any crispy, smoky tasting skin or meat, neither did that chicken. The rib tips weren't any better. Those TV meats may have won awards and accolades but you have to come with the real deal on the Southside of Chicago. The tips had zero smoke flavor and were fatty and the link was a cheap hot dog imitation of the real thing. Speaking of imitation, that seems to be a running theme with these new folk. You may make the food look like Big Mama's but if it doesn't pass the taste test, then it's a fail. When people catch on, you are out of business. At the risk of sounding dated (I really don't care, lol) some (not all) young people have no idea of what quality food, music, fashion or human interaction is all about. So as long as the masses keep buying this trap/drill music and AI, pretend food, those only interested in making a buck and not feeding minds, bodies and souls will keep dishing it and they'll keep consuming it...October London just won't do when you want the real Marvin Gaye. And so it goes for this pretend "Smokehouse". We can't get this robbery of our taste buds and pockets out of our minds so it was a one off for us.We finally were able to scratch our barbecue itch at a well kept secret in Bridgeport. They've been doing it for years and their smoked meats are even better than Lems, which is saying a lot.

This is my go to place when I'm on the south side. I come here for the salad with brisket and roasted chicken it never disappoints me. I love the atmosphere and the peach cobbler is delicious!! Just like my dad use to make it. Not to mention I love supporting a black owned businesses and I've seen the chef Dominique Leach on my favorite cooking network the food network where she won several competitions with Bobby Flay and others. Check out this place if you're in the Pullman neighborhood.
