Food: MaryAnn loved the Shrimp Scampi that was prepared a-la-minut, flawless. Zucchini Croquettes, married with/delectable, piquant remoulade aioli, were divine! Best sourdough toasted bread included in apps & entrees. Service: Unrivaled attention from Frederick, whose patient ellagnce was appreciated. Happy Hour offers variety of choices, burgers paired with/beer- flatbreads paired w/wine.Ambiance:Inventively transformed into a masterpiece of historical levels, including a spacious garden patio for dining al fresco.Roomy multi use restrooms available for patrons. The Lemon Grove Bistro is a pleasant restaurant located in an historic building in old Lemon Grove, near the famous "Lemon". There is plenty of street parking is available in front as well as along the sides, as the restaurant is located on a quiet side street. There are interesting and large murals painted on the south side of the restaurant building. The welcome by co-owner Frederik is exemplary, and you can see in his actions the Lemon Grove Bistro is a true labor of love. The service on the evening of my visit by Desiree was excellent and friendly. There is a large patio to one side of the restaurant in a former parking lot that has multiple picnic tables. There are also outdoor tables along the façade on Main Street. However, I prefer to dine in the interior. The salmon with a crispy skin was enjoyable. For dessert, there is a Chocolate Budino, which is a winner, with a consistency like chocolate pudding. To drink, there is Scattered Peaks Sauvignon Blanc and a single espresso afterwards.

A solid place for food and drink. Very loud though. Lots of wall space with no sound deadening at all from what I can see. The staff is a delight and the food is an 8 out of 10. Portion size is fair, but not great for the prices. This is a relatively new place and they are still finding their footing, but it's a good place to go in Lemon Grove. Enjoy!

I was looking for a place to try in the La Mesa area, and this place popped up on Yelp. I don't come to the Lemon Grove area, but to my surprise, this is such a nice restaurant, and I hope this will bring more nice establishments to this area. They have a big patio on the side and the front of the restaurants. We came on Friday night and it was somewhat busy. My friend and I ordered the same dish, a short rib, and shared the zucchini croquet. The croquet was good, and I liked the sauce. The short ribs were tender, but we both felt like it was lacking in seasonings/flavors; tasted a bit bland. Mash potato had good flavor so that helped. The service was good and I'll probably come back to try more dishes.

My wife and I planned a trip to San Diego and decided to dine out with my sister and brother-in-law, who live in the area. After some searching, we found a charming restaurant with a clean and inviting exterior.As soon as we entered, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated by the friendly host. We wasted no time in ordering drinks and our meals, eager to experience the ambiance of the place.When our food arrived, we were all delighted by the delicious offerings. I opted for the beef bourguignon, while my wife savored the slow-braised short ribs. My sister chose the flat iron steak, and my brother-in-law went for the house-made meatloaf. Each dish was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were outstanding.Despite the high quality of the food and service, we were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices. In total, our bill came to around $145 for all four of us, including food and drinks. It felt like a steal considering the exceptional dining experience we had.I can't wait to return to this restaurant the next time I'm in the area. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great food, friendly service, and reasonable prices in San Diego!

This is the most unexpected gem of a restaurant. Just absolutely mind blown here. Service was kind and genuine and attentive. And the food?!?! Omg unmatched. Perfection. I dined with a group of 8 others and every person was beyond blissed out by the food. Highly recommend!

One word; AMAZING!! You will not be disappointed in anything that you order. We ordered the seasonal flatbread that was so delicious. The ingredients were fresh, the flatbread light and fluffy, it was subtle but full of delicious flavors. We also got the slow braised short ribs with garlic Parmesan mashed potatoes and asparagus and let me tell you that was the best I have EVER had. I highly recommend! We also had the crème brûlée that was to die for! Our server was Daniel and he was nothing short of amazing. He was funny, knowledgeable of all the dishes, gave us great suggestions. It didn't feel rushed, we took our time, they checked up on us. I think the owner was behind the bar and he was also super nice. All the staff made us feel welcomed. It's a really cute location, it's cozy and modern-ish, it's super clean too. They have indoor and outdoor and plenty of space for big parties too. I wish I could give them more stars because this was by far one of the best experiences I have ever had in a restaurant! Go check them out!!

Flavorful and delicious but also reminiscent of my favorite old bakery. I had the short rib and it was amazing. the bread is to die for. Can't wait to return.

Who would have guessed that such a lovely restaurant existed in Lemon Grove !The staff were friendly and patient while we "chatted while not even looking the menu."Our waiter came to our outside table several times to see if we were ready to order, always smiling and accommodating. We chose outside in front because it was a bit noisy inside and we wanted to focus on chatting.There is a large outdoor area to the side with picnic tables and a garden. The waiter explained the vegetables are used in meal preparation, the concept is farm-to-table; although it is difficult to imagine the small garden providing enough produce to fulfill the restaurant's requirements.The food was outstanding. We got the caesar salad with added Salmon. The salmon was cooked to perfection, with a nice crunchy skin and delicious. The salad was crisp and generously covered with a pleasing dressing. It was served with a flavorful toasted and crunchy slice of bread.The chicken piccata was delicious, served on top of creamy, thin mashed potatoes. It had artichoke leaves mixed in. I found the food prices to be quite reasonable considering the quality, especially compared to the many restaurants I've been to recently where they charge $20 and up for a plate of dry, unflavorful food. They have a good selection of craft beers and excellent wine. If you order bottled water, be sure to check the price. We were a bit astonished when the bill came and we discovered the bottled water was $18; although the water was good and served cold, but not so cold that you got brain freeze if you drank it quickly.Definitely will visit this restaurant again.
