Laylah's Jamaican Food

The food is AMAZING!!!!!!!! I can't stop ordering from here..The guys that work there are super nice and have great service. It's the definition of the perfect hole in the wall place with the music, INCREDIBLE food, and overall vibe

It's a shame this place use to be good to go to . Now you have people who are selling you overprice and horrible quality Jamiacan food . The person left in charge gave me the burnt plaintains and told me that's what they left him with . I said I don't care and if you have anymore , cook me some new one because this is unacceptable. He laughed and went back and 20 minutes later serve me up some raw ones .I'm not here to make any lose their job god know it's hard finding good job but laylah for years been serving trash to the community by hiring people who can't do their job. I could go on and on with more negative comments but I'm going stop and just try to warn anyone who is looking for Jamiacan food in San Diego , save your Gas and your money and don't go there . If you don't believe me go for yourself but I won't be going back .

last time I came through it hit the spot. Chicken is dry up with sauce on top BOY Why? !!! Even veggie not the same BOY WHY?!!! And the portion went done too it got much small then me get last time me came... I'm done with this spot never again.

I really wanted to like this spot. I was craving some island food, so I decided to pop in. The wait was a little long as there seemed to be only one person working. Like taking orders and then running back to make the plates. I chose the curry goat and got a side of Mac n cheese. The goat meat was tender, but lacked any flavor. It was all heat, like straight pepper. The peas and rice was though. The Mac n cheese were okay, but not something I feel compelled to try again. I will give them another try, because it may have been an off day.

This place was a great find! They have a huge grill going in the parking lot outside the place. All you can smell is that delicious jerk chicken grilling.We have tried a bunch of items so far. The oxtails are slow cooked and delicious! The jerk pork is good. The jerk shrimp is very good too. The jerk chicken and Jamaican patty are the best items. The star is the jerk chicken. Juicy chicken marinaded in the killer spicy jerk sauce. They put some extra sauce on top so it mixed with the rice and peas.A close second to the jerk chicken is the Jamaican patty. Its some kind of flaky dough pocket, filled with a super fine cut ground beef. Very tasty with some the hot pepper sauce found on the tables.We try to make it here every time we stop buy the NEX across the street. Highly recommend!

This place used to be really good. Ordered Brown Stewed Chicken, chicken was dry, not much flavor and no gravy... at all. Vegetables under seasoned.. won't be going back here...

I was half way through eating my food and I realized I ain't even get a picture, that's how amazing this food is. Definitely made with love and soul. REAL JAMAICAN FOOD!!! flavorful, tender, and delicious. Thank you!!

Starting with what was good. Rice & peas, curry chicken. Jerk chicken was a major fail. The patties are not homemade and very dry. I have made better from a recipe on YouTube. The photo I'm providing is my patties. Trust me on this...I know Jamaican food.

The food here is one of the best in the area. very high quality food service and the owners are amazing people. I'm extremely satisfied with everything.
