It's been over 3 years so figured an update to my review is overdue. Huge fan of Layers from day 1 (as you can tell by all the photos.. haha). At first, I was sad about the Layers Sando truck no longer being at breweries because I always looked forward to their sandwiches alongside some tasty beers and just relaxing at a brewery. But, I am definitely happy to have them in a brick and mortar in Green Lake, where it's possible to have their sandos (and other items) most days of the week, whenever the cravings strike! Order at the counter and then find a seat. Sometimes it can get crowded during peak times (and weekends) so to avoid a wait, try for a week day or earlier (11:00ish) on a weekend. However, the line moves pretty quickly so not an issue either way. Note that you should grab your own water and bus your own table when finished. The space is relatively small, so may not be the best to try to eat here if you have a larger group, but otherwise, you can usually find a spot. Perfect also for a grab and go to picnic at the lake, etc. on those sunny days!Sandwiches and food are as good as ever and there is more selection now than the prior food truck and it's awesome that Ellary is part of the team because her baked items are fantastic! (Biscuit, etc.) Big fan of the owners (so friendly and kind and genuinely want you to enjoy everything you order - and are open to feedback). So, still a 5-start experience!

Veryyyyy cute location, love that is right across the street from the park and there is lots of outdoor seating! The food was good, I was a little bummed that the one I wanted was out by the time got there at 1pm, will have to come back and try again. My favorite is the lemonade! I love that it is more one the sour side!

Went around 12:30pm on a Sunday and there was a line outside the door! We found parking in the garage underneath. Lots of people around the area as the weather is nice and its right across the street from green lake. There is only a few tables inside, but they also offer outside seating. You order up front and they bring out your food, but you have to bus your own table. We luckily got a table inside as a table freed up while we were ordering. By the time we got to the front to order, most of the sandwiches were sold out. My friend and I split the ham sandwich and spuds. We asked for the sandwich to be cut in half! The sandwich was surprising good for something that doesn't have that many ingredients. It was very filling and I also enjoyed the potatoes with the green goddess sauce. We also both got the lemonades. It was apparently guava flavored, but we didn't get that at all and it was quite sour. I would pass on this next time. We also ordered the canele(?) and this was a nice sweet treat! It doesn't look amazing, but it tasted really good! It had a slight caramel taste. I would love to come again and try one of their other sandwiches! This was a great experience and highly recommend if you're in the area!!

I come here for the baked goods! Chef Ellary does amazing work. I love her biscuits and everything else she bakes. I did not know how much I loved canelés until I had them here. I've had the biscuit & Jam and breakfast sandwiches, but I find myself showing up for the baked goods. This past Saturday, I saw a post of the Bostok and Kouign-Amann, which are new items, so I naturally rushed to Layers to try them and both did not disappoint. Of course, I always pick up a few canelés to enjoy later. This is a great place to come to have a bite to eat, enjoy a cup of coffee or beverage of choice and relax a bit.Service is always friendly and welcoming.

There is a long line out the door on Saturday lunch time. Some items were sold out already. But Layers live up to the hype. Everything we had was delicious! Especially the pork belly. Crispy, juicy pork belly with sweet dressing was amazing.

Weekends usually bring a decent queue but their sandwiches are totally worth it. I had the notorious PIG and it was amazing. Great crunch, fatty pork belly, great toppings!

My friend and I came here for sandwiches, and ordered two and boy did layers deliver layers of flavor! Two different sandwiches, the pig, and the cure! had totally two different vibes! And each flavor combination as each individual sandwich was impeccable. Love the touches of different type veggies that went really well with each protein! A smidge pricey for a sandwich, but after tasting just how gourmet it was.. definitely need to be coming back and be glad to fork out the $ that pig, was succcccuulennnnt! Also wanted to their biscuittttttttt, but they were all sold out. Just means we will have to make our trek back here again! Can't wait!Ps. We also ordered their potato spuds....but that's going to be a pass in our books. Was the only thing that didn't wow us during many bites at this place. Save space for something else ;)

OMG I still smell like lamb Guys this place is legit!! So we went by a place earlier and thought hmmm layers is near by and we should check it out. Best choice ever!! We ordered two of the lamb sandwiches "baby don't herd me" points for the name! So this thing is easily half a pound of shredded lamb on each sandwich, with lots of arugula and a mint chermoula. We also got the fingerling potato's that came with a green goddess dip and we added a spicy aioli Guys 10/10 ever freakin thing, it was fantastic, my face is still covered in juicy lamb and I was only able to eat half. Hubby, who hardly ever compliments a place had to take a moment to savor such happiness. Absolutely worth multiple visits. Also if you do go remember to order first and sit after, it's a smallish place and they do their best with tables but I promise you they will get you one just allow others to eat while you order as it is a quick turn around. Have fun!!

Notorious PIG is solid. Had three big strips of fried pork rind and tender melty pork with the pork fat. The sauces used were great! It was busy at noon and I saw lots of people also ordered the notorious PIG. They sold out of the crab cake sandwich and biscuits by the time I got there at noon on a Friday. They do have indoor and outdoor seating. I opted to get mine to go. There's cucumber water that's self serve and this is a restaurant in where you have to bus your own table. Ambiance was small but could hold about 15-20 people inside.

Ohhhh my goodness!! Listen, I have been a vegetarian for 21 years, and I've had probably hundreds (thousands?) of veggie burgers. They've gotten more interesting over the years, but they usually aren't memorable. Until today. Hands down, the "Le Vurger" at Layers is the best vegetarian burger I've ever ordered at a restaurant. They describe it as a housemade chickpea-rice patty, and it's covered in the most delicious smoked tomato aioli with practically an entire arugula beet salad on top. The chickpea patty is so moist on the inside, with a delicious crunch to the outer layer. Simple, but perfect! (For the meat eaters reading this, the table of guys next to me had some sort of pork belly sandwich and I overheard one of them rave about it. So if they are to be believed, apparently you gotta try the pork belly!) The pastry case is not to be missed! Their house canele might be the yummiest little bite of dessert in town. Another simple but perfectly executed treat. 10/10 recommend! I've also had the chocolate peppermint cookie and WOW! I asked if there was a whole peppermint patty in the middle because you bite into some sort of gooey peppermint heaven, but apparently it's just their own perfect little secret that makes it so yummy! It's always full, and so the vibe is pretty cool, but also super chill. It's clean and bright and airy. Order at the counter from one nice person, get a number, find a table inside or outside (there's plenty of both!), and then another nice person brings you your food. Actually, the staff is awesome. They just seem like good people who wanna put out good food and make you and your tummy happy. I have an injury and have gone in a couple of times the past few weeks on both crutches and a mobility scooter, and they are super helpful without making a big fuss - which I appreciate.I can't wait to come back, which I plan to often! Check the hours because they are limited, and totally worth planning for!
