Layer Cake

Hanging out in downtown Nashville on Broadway can get a little bit hectic at times, so we decided to go a little bit off of the main path and try this place for dinner. We saw this place earlier in the day of our visit and it looked like it had a good menu. Upon entry, it was already impressive with its visually stimulating, multicolor LED lit areas and decor. We decided to sit at the bar. I started off with the Broadway girl cocktail, which was sweet, but also somewhat refreshing. For the entrée, I got the steakhouse salad with balsamic vinaigrette (steak medium cooked). Since I don't like blue cheese, I did request this without any cheese. They also provided some steak sauce on the side to dip your pieces of steak in if you desire. This restaurant is very cute with a lot of IG worthy photo op areas if you're into that sort of thing. The staff was friendly and did a great job with us. Room for improvement: it would be a better experience if they could filter their tapwater, as it had a very strong taste to me.On the floor below is the cherry lounge. At the time of our visit, it was the Christmas holiday so they had a Christmas pop-up bar set up down there. It was called "SANTA BABY: A MRS. CLAUS POP-UP". They did a great job! I took many photos.Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

We came here on a Monday at about 2pm and the restaurant was emptied.I guess it would be more for night crowd and weekends vibes.The ambiance of the restaurant is very instagrammable. Food was Ok but the service was exceptional. We would like to thanks Milton the only bartender/server in the restaurant that day. He was very courteous and friendly. Thanks Milton to go above and beyond to make the vegetarian flat bread for my friend and it's not on the menuThe management should be proud for him.

Birthday brunch! This was my second time here per a friend's request. Of course there is no street parking and there is no pint in complaint about the rates. They got rid of the decorated cake table and fancy pink chair for photos. I don't know why but my guess would be the drunk folks tried to eat it. The server did ok but was overwhelmed. She had 2 birthday parties next too each other. The manager kept checking on us and he was attentive. The food is ok. You come here for the ambiance of the upper level. It's decorated for media and it's fun to spot the differences in different sections. Some drunk guys ambushed the end of our party but it's kind of expected in downtown Nashville. We were heading out so it wasn't too bad. I had the red velvet waffles and I ordered chicken on the side because it doesn't come with it. Don't order chicken on the side because you chicken tender for $5. The cocktails were good and fun. I had their version of a Paloma and everyone else loved the drink that tastes like a dreamsicle but I forgot what it was called. You come here to drink and take photos with aesthetically pleasing food.

Espresso martini 3/5, beers and mixed drinks are preferred here. Our tots were good but a bit soggy Service was good since we went early on a Wednesday, not sure about when it's busy. The decor of the first floor really slaps you in the face as soon as you walk in. It doesn't look nearly as good as the pictures.

I was walking on Broadway and ended up on 3rd Ave. attracted to Layer Cake's beautiful pink display. After chatting with the host and seeing that they offered gluten free macaroons, my besties considered grabbing some dessert. Sadly, the macaroon flavors were not listed on the menu so the host had to go into the kitchen and ask. During that time, I considered ordering a slice of cake so we proceeded upstairs to the rooftop for ordering. Once upstairs, the bartender went to inquire about the macaroon flavors and came back with an entirely different list of flavors. And when asked if the flavors could be written down, she hesitated about that. They had some interesting cake flavors, but the slices were limited to 3 flavors I was not interested in. Due to the hesitation with concrete macaroon flavors and limited mini cake flavors, we decided against ordering anything. While the decor is a great place for a bachelorette party, I would not recommend this business due to the customer service I received around macaroons.

Based on the atmosphere and location, it's hard to fault Layer Cake for missing the mark on the food. This restaurant and event space is clearly meant for those looking to party, and you should not be surprised to find it wall to wall with women wearing pink cowboy hats, boots, and dresses, all celebrating a wide spectrum of bachelorette inspired shenanigans. In fact, Layer Cake seems very specifically focused on making sure those types are fed before they head off to Broadway to make fools of themselves.And while I applaud them for the effort, and honestly, the space is really nice, the food falls short. Everything is properly prepared, don't get me wrong. Nothing is bad either. But the flavors are bland, and with all of the cheese, cream sauces and fried items, you get the sense the intent is less to please the palate, and more to make sure people get enough calories in them before they begin their binge drinking.Long story short, it is what it is, and what it is, is pretty good! But if you're looking for a great meal, you might want to avoid this tourist trap.

Layer Cake- The name says it all in this multi-level wow adventure. I reserved a table for a group of five in the Dining Room for Brunch on a Saturday afternoon. Upon entrance the ambience was fun, inviting, and picture opportunity heaven. We were greeted and seated immediately. Reservations are highly encouraged. Each floor had a unique food, drink, and dessert menu. We ordered from the brunch menu: A delicious plant-based/vegan/vegetarian option is the Avocado Hummus with grilled corn and black bean Pico, grilled Pita, and fresh veggies. The pita bread was warm and veggies were fresh. It was delicious. I also ordered the Red Velvet Waffle Stack. It was a sweet and satisfying treat. My friends enjoyed the Popcorn chicken, smoked wings, and duck fat tater tots. They had no complaints. After brunch we headed upstairs to the roof top to enjoy the DJ and beautiful view. We saved the best for last, the Wonder Room. Full of color and vibrant decor that is absolutely beautiful. Definitely will return soon for happy hour and to enjoy one of their many monthly events. Highly recommend.

The Mrs Claus Santa Baby christmas pop up in the basement of layer cake was my fav bar in downtown Nashville! From the decor to the drinks to the bartenders I loved it all! They went all out with the decor and theme here! Even the bathrooms had an awesome adult themed naughty christmas theme which will make every patron thirsty lol! It's really big for a basement bar, plenty of room for bringing a group of friends or a date night. Girls dont miss the ipad that's set up for pics in front of the living room scene.Take note, only drinks that are on the special menu are available, it is NOT an open bar. But that's ok cuz their drinks r super yummy! We enjoyed the shots in the ornaments, and the cinnamon rose was sooooo delicious! Seriously the best cocktail I've had in a very long time, and SOOOO PRETTY! I'm gonna try & recreate it, but I know it won't be as good as when Bella and Jean made it. Awesome bartenders btw- thanks for hosting us, we had a blast!

Had an amazing 40th birthday here. So many beautifully themed rooms. Like an Instagram haven. Loved the food. Felt so special when they brought me a piece of cake to celebrate. The best part is getting drinks on the rooftop. The views were incredible!

1. Mimosa Tower2. Fried Chicken Sliders3. Loaded Duck Fat Tater Tots This place takes you to another world. It's loud and eccentric and perfect for a group brunch with friends. The mimosa tower was as picture perfect as you can imagine. And those fried chicken sliders are worth every last bite. The service was great as we even added a few more to our original party. I'd definitely recommend checking this out if you are looking to start your morning off right.
