This may be one of the only reasons to visit the Rio. It's hidden in a beautiful rustic wine cellar, around a few corners and out of sight of the casino. It's worth the hunt to find it! Jose was such a delight- he talked us through some of the wine options and made great conversation. Joe was so lovely and kind as well! Both of them have been there for over a decade and clearly know their stuff! We enjoyed warm bread with two different wine flights before our dinner at Voodoo steak house as part of them anniversary special. $130 for a wine flight and a 3 course meal! What a deal!!! We decided to upgrade our flight tasting to Cabernets so it was a bit more- worth every extra penny! I highly recommend heading down to meet the guys and enjoy some of the best wines!

Located inside the Rio Casino and Hotel. Came for a wine tasting event via an email received from the Rio Hotel and Casino. Arrived, inside casino and followed signs to the back of the casino (Near smashburger). The wine Cellar is on the bottom floor and is actually down a flight of stairs. As you enter you take a spiral staircase down to what imitates a winery tasting room, nice ambiance. On some nights they have dueling pianos. Which were hard to hear and seating was scattered and majority were not in view of the pianos. The wine tasting consisted of 4 Justin wines and light snacks (salami, cheese, crackers, bread, and chips). The snacks were obsolete for majority of the experience. I was able to see what the snacks were based on the other attendees plates that were piled high. Nonetheless the wine tasting was for a limited time and the pours were lacking literally a sip or two per pour. Service was friendly, overpriced for the selection of snacks and tiny pours. I'd try them again just because sometimes establishments have off nights. And maybe this was one of them.

It was such a beautiful experience. It's so hidden that when you go down stairs it looks like Napa. I can't wait to go back and try the other flights. The service was amazing and the ambiance was nice

Recently reopened in April 2024, the Wine Cellar stands head and shoulders above everything the Rio Hotel and Casino offers. We visited the cellar on May 2nd as part of my wife's birthday celebration. It was just her and me, looking for a night of wine tasting and picture opportunities. We got everything we hoped for. She got a Riesling wine flight (#2), and I picked up a bourbon flight (#13) we were served by the amazing Joel, who offered a warm, welcoming tone as well as valuable insight as to what we were about to experience. Let me not get started on the ambiance! It was phenomenal! It made me actually forget we were in the Rio while we visited the cellar. This was our first time visiting the Wine Cellar & Tasting Room, and we'll be back for more!

Paid close to $80 for a Cakebread wine tasting event, what a waste of money..basically it was a free for all, everyone was handed a glass then sent downstairs to basically figure it all out yourself. So there was a long line for white and a long line for red, once you get there you are poured a half ounce in your glass, then back to the end of the long line for another sip. Too many people attending as well,,they did put appys out but once they were gone, they were gone...never again!!!

Food choices very limited and overpriced. Wine flight was good but single glass of wines overpriced. Manager (Hong) was a little abrupt and not very hospitable. Our server, Jose, was super friendly and talkative. Overall ambiance was lacking due to very few customers and a strange smell (like antiseptic). Decore is nice but location must need more advertising since Friday night had so few customers. We had been to this bar before the pandemic and loved it then. At that time, they also had happy hour specials so everything seemed more affordable.

Wine Cellar & Tasting Room is located in the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino towards the Masquerade Village area. The glamorous spiral staircase leads you down to a romantic dim lit wine cellar with plenty of private seating areas or the bar area with fake candles throughout. I sat at the bar area and Joel was a lot of help. There was so many options, he really helped me narrow it down. I decided to do a wine flight so I could sample a variety of wines. I got Flight #4 Game of Thrones ($39) and it came with 4 glasses of 3 oz each. - Oregon, The Four Graces Pinot Gris, 2017- Valdadige, Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio, 2017- Alsace, Trimbach Reserve Pinot Gris, 2013- Provence, Domaine de Triennes Viognier "Sainte Fleur," 2014The wine selection was great, but I definitely preferred the first 2 over the second 2. Still nice to be able to experience the variety. To pair with the Game of Throne, I had the Soft Ripened Cheese ($30) cheese plate of 3 cheese of 2 oz servings each. They were served with dried fruits, spiced nuts and sliced artisan breads. - French Brie, Cow Milk, France- Port Salut, Cow Milk, France- Morbier, Cow Milk, FranceThe cheese plate really helped bring out the complex notes of the wine. I had a lot of fun trying different combinations of bread and cheeses before sipping each wine. I was so full from the experience, I was not able to eat dinner afterwards. A MUST VISIT for all wine connoisseur!! I highly recommend this spot for date night, or even to just go on your own.

Year 5 of Trekking through space with my fellow Federation friends! Sometimes we tend to bend the rules and mingle with the local community. Wine is a deep dark hidden desire that cannot be met with anything replicated. On an away mission we ventured into the unknown for the best the Rio at to offer us!Who does not love some wine! Looking to explore even further each one took the long winding stair case to the cellar! Exciting huh!At the end of the staircase was not a dark and damp cellar; but quite the opposite. Instead was a lovely room with couches and inviting decor surrounding us. We were so glad for taking the leap and exploring our curiosities side. We already explore new worlds so, discovering new places on terra firma is just one more step. This exploration is geared towards providing an individual with sheer decadence surrounded by beautiful bottles of bubbly and wine on fluffy soft leather couches! Do I have to ever leave? The decor of the entrance and whole concept is just beautiful with so much creative and charm present. The feeling beacons for those who love wine to come and share in this joy. When you reach the bottom of the staircase the Wine purveyor and our guide offered seating immediately. The guest feels like family here. We were shown where all the wine was kept. Plus a bonus for us the manager loves Star Trek. We felt like family here. Our extended Federation family of course. The atmosphere of the wine cellar is nothing but love and sharing in the passion of delicious wine. I cannot remember our wine tasting guides name but, if your serious about mine this is the place for you!The service here is table side and anything that you could ever want that has to do with wine is here! The most impressive and amazing collection ever. We had six in our away party; so we had a great time sampling four different bottles. After about the first few glasses the tasting gets so much more fun. There is a certain way to taste the wine too before even swallowing it. We all learned about wine 101 here. School is in-session for us officers. Next year when we come back we will be ahead of the class at Wine 202!Tasting wine is so much fun among amazing friends. You build up and hearty appetite too. The food that we are shared was so delicious and delightful. We shared the food offerings among us six. We ordered some. assorted fine cheeses, salami, and a few other impressive eats. The bread helped clean the pallets and tasted great paired with the red wine the most. I am no wine purveyors but I did learn some new wine tasting skills here! Just so you are not scared; some of the prices of the wine will cause pain to you! Among great friends it is fine since we split the check six ways and with a tip which they did add in. It did not matter; we still took care of our wine guide with an extra tip too! We were set back around $400. Price was no option this trip it was about exploring new worlds and reaching out to new people! Going where some have gone before; but where we went together! That is the real meaning of the love and friendship that we share. Will there be a year 6; it is in the works as we speak! I believe that we will make the Wine Cellar a regular haunt that we will look forward too after long arduous days of exploring the Rio. We can come here and be treated like royalty and lounge on the softest couches that I have ever dined or been wined on!Now go try the red wine here!Live long and prosper !

I hate to give it one star, but it isn't open. I reviewed this place pre-Covid, and it was amazing. I hope they reopen soon.

Awesome ambiance and service, but overpriced even for the The Strip.I've wanted to come here for awhile. My husband and I were seeing a show at The Rio so we came in before our show. There really wasn't much information about what's offered on their website so we went in not knowing what food and drinks were offered. Walking in I immediately liked the ambiance. Located downstairs from the main casino area it is a cozy space with a rustic winery feel. Seating includes a long bar, tables, and couches. Seating areas are nicely spaced out. My husband and I opted to lounge on one of the couches and thought it was a comfortable way to enjoy our wine. The woman that helped us was friendly and attentive. As soon as we walked in she greeted us and offered us menus. She encouraged us to sit anywhere we liked and she'd be over soon to take our order. We were given the perfect amount of time to look over the menu without being rushed. She continued to check on us enough that we felt taken care of, but not so much that her presence was intrusive to our experience. The menu offers many different wine flight options as well as wines by the glass. Flights start at around $30, but most are $50-$60. Each flight comes out to about two glasses of wine. I saw on Yelp that they were working to improve their food menu so I thought they might have a few appetizers. On our visit the menu only offered a couple of cheese flights, a couple (literally two) meats, and items you'd get with cheese plates like olives or nuts. We wanted a glass of wine each so we shared a flight of Pinot Noirs. Three of the wines in the flight were good. Ironically, the most expensive wine in the flight was not good at all. We ordered a cheese flight that included gouda, cheddar, and Parmigiano-Reggiano. This was a sad display with some dried fruit around the cheese. It did come with a large bread basket featuring the same breads served at Voodoo. For $30 and a nice wine bar you'd expect a nicer spread with mustards, jams, or nuts. We also ordered the meat plate which had five pieces of two different meats. The meats were delicious, but again the presentation was sad with just a small cup of olives on the side. All said, we had the equivalent of two glasses of wine, some cheese, some meat, and a lot of bread for around $140 with tip. I realized later that this spot offers 25% off to locals, but even with that discount this spot would be a hard pass. Next time I'd just skip this spot, spend a little extra money, and have a full dinner at Voodoo Steakhouse.
