I've been to Sushi raku on the strip, and my experience there was a 4/5. Felt the need to give Raku another try so made reservations for Toridokoro last weekend. We showed up a little late for our reservation of 6pm. Their dining room surrounds the yakitori grill and we got front row seats at the bar with the chef in action. The menu is extensive, so we opted to do their omakase for $80 that had a great variety of their popular items. Started with the appetizer set that included 5 bite sized plates - cheese (forget the type) with balsamic, chicken sausage with vegan jelly, shrimp in seafood sauce, fried sea bass, and fried lotus chips. This was followed by the second dish (my favorite) their homemade soft tofu, lightly breaded and fried in a rich chicken soup. Next, we had a series of skewers ranging from chicken skin, cartilage, heart, liver, tomato, and duck. A couple small plates were also served including thigh meat and sea scallops served on a scallop shell. The meal ended with a small bowl of noodles in clear chicken broth. The dessert consisted of brown sugar pudding topped with homemade fluffy and not-too-sweet whipped cream and a mango pudding. All in all, my experience was outstanding. I especially appreciate the attention to detail in every dish, from sauce varieties, fresh ingredients, and presentation. This includes their A+ service. Bravo!!

I came here about a month ago and was able to make a reservation but a credit card was required via phone. Because I had a party of 6 people, I was told on the phone that it HAD to be omakase. I was truly disappointed by this requirement. For $80 dollars, I truly do NOT think this omakase was worth it. I did not enjoy most of the skewers as I found each skewer to be lacking a depth of flavor. Even with the additional salts/soy/condiments on the table, it made the skewers somewhat decent to eat. Even eating the skewers alone, it really lack something on its own. I did try this restaurant when the first opened it and I came back again with friends who haven't been at this restaurant and my impression for both times was the same which is "not that great." It's maybe okay to try once but I am in no rush to try it again if I was in Las Vegas. The staff was nice and service was fine but the food was just not good enough for the price. I would check with the staff to see what skewers could be change out prior to the order being placed (i.e., no chicken livers for example). Chicken paitan ramen was better than their other noodle choice. Do NOT buy the uni extra add-on for the rice bowl option. This was not worth it at all. The desserts were great and I would opt for any of the choices over the sorbets unless you really love sorbets (i.e., strawberry is the best one unless the seasonal flavor happens to be better). Parking was decent in this plaza, had no issues. Brew Tea is located in the same plaza.

Wondered in thinking of having ramen at a restaurant that I have not been to before and ended up finding this gemOrdered the omakase and the quality of the food was well worth the $80. Will definitely go again!

Love this place. We ordered a la carte and enjoyed everything. In fact, we ate everything. I enjoyed the foie gras don. Service is awesome and the space is intimate but not crowded.

Went for a late dinner and mist of the standard chicken yakitori was sold out. We opted out of the omakase choice and ordered a different items on the menu. I would personally not come back because it is a bit pricey if you wanna be full. Some highlights include:Omakase appetizer - 5/5. This was outstanding! Juicy fried chicken - 5/5. The chicken was REALLY juicy and tender. Quail egg - 5/5. Had a very smoky flavor. Tomato - 5/5. Was charred perfectly. Agedashi tofu - 4/5. I really liked the sauce / soup that came with but tofu was alright. Scallops - 5/5. Was so buttery and fresh. Paitan ramen - 3/5. The flavors didn't really stick out.

Came with three others and opted to order a la carte. The items listed below are what we ordered four sets of. Stars denote personal favorites: 1. Omakase appetizer set -- five small bites; personal favorite was the tomato! Super fresh. 2. Chicken wing ($4.5)-- can't go wrong with a chicken wing 3. *Thigh ($4) -- thick and delicious bite. The teriyaki sauce that was used was full of flavor. 4. Breast with skin ($5) -- helped to cut the fattiness of the other skewers, but still was delicious!5. *Tail ($5) -- fatty and had a good chewy flavor. I didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised 6. Onion ($3.5) -- unique and should get with a first visit; the onion almost melts in your mouth. I think we could've ordered 2 and split it rather than everyone getting their own onion. 7. *Mushroom ($3) -- I enjoyed how the mushroom juices were brought out through the grill and that you could also taste the charcoal flavor of the grill itself. These dishes we shared and split 2 orders amongst four people: 1. Scallop ($12) -- buttery goodness that was quite decadent.2. *Chicken oyster ($5) x 2 -- this was my favorite skewer! The oyster is so tender and each skewer comes with two pieces. We should've gotten one order per person, we didn't realize how much we would enjoy it. 3. Sweet potato ($3) x 2 -- candied sweet potato with a slab of butter on top, there's no reason not to like this. The remaining dishes we ordered one dish and split:1. Straw smoked seared chicken -- the fried garlic chips and ponzu sauce added to the smokiness of the dish. Among 4 people, we all got two pieces which gives a good taste of the dish 2. Oyakudon -- homey and cooked so well. We were warmed to the soul with this dish3. *Raku tofu ($5.5) -- half portion only, but pairs well with the house made soy sauce and matcha salt. A personal favorite. Dessert and drinks:1. *Yuzu beer -- refreshing to wash down all the skewers! I really enjoyed the flavor profile and the subtle yuzu flavor. I'm not a big beer drinker, but I could've had another glass2. Mango pudding -- very refreshing! Definitely helped to end the meal on a great note. 3. *Brown sugar pudding -- I felt like I was eating a delicious cloud. I didn't taste brown sugar, but it tasted more like a not too sweet hot chocolate cloud. I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors though. I think we did well in opting for ordering per dish vs doing omakase. We left full but not stuffed. Reservations are a must!! Easily can call ahead of time to schedule. Perhaps a party of 2 could walk in at open, but the restaurant is pretty intimate, thus I would see it filling up with reservations.

I came here for a dinner and had a pretty decent time and good food. We had wanted to try the omakase menu, but turned out that everyone in the party had to order it, so we decided against it since it would've been too much food. The staff were really nice and the store had a nice ambiance. There weren't a lot of tables, but there was a nice bar where you can watch the chef cook which was entertaining. We ended up ordering a bunch of different things to try, although we were a bit disappointed that some of the items had already run out by 6-7pm. Some of the highlights from the meal the appetizer set, which not only had a great presentation but also tasted really good. We also enjoyed some of the typical skewers like thigh. We didn't get to try it but the staff has highly recommended the Beyond Onion. We had only ordered the Japanese yam and pumpkin but enjoyed those. I also really like the Isobe Yaki (grilled mochi) and grilled rice ball. We thought the Paitan and the straw smoked chicken might be pretty good, but turned out just OK and I wasn't blown away by either items.Overall, I had a pretty good dining experience here.

I always loved the raku on Spring Mountain and decatur when I wanted good quality Japanese food, but I finally tried their sister property on flamingo. It is a bit more focused on chicken, a little more casual, and also has less seating. You can see them preparing your food if you sit at the bar seating. I honestly enjoyed everything except for their paitan broth. It was oddly fishy even though they said their was no fish in it. The highlights for me were the chicken tail. It's super juicy and a new experience for me. The straw smoked and grilled chicken. It was cooked perfectly, and the ponzu sauce, chili paste, garlic chips, and green onion really turned it into something special. The foil gras and duck were decadent. The creaminess of the foi gras and the char on the duck were an amazing counterpoint. Ground chicken curry was very layered and developed in flavor.Chicken heart was tender and full of flavor.Scallop had a great umami quality Mango pudding was so refreshing! Reminded me a bit of some elements of the caribe dessert that the now closed sweets raku used to have. Some things to improve.. When I go next time, I'll try to get a table as the bar seating was not ideal for the comfort of my legs , and I do wish they had some purse hooks underneath. I also would love if they had more interesting options for non alcoholic beverages. At least the Coke they had was Mexican Coke. However, I would prefer something more related to Japanese cuisine and not the options they have, like ramune, which is too sweet and artificial tasting to me. Despite these few issues, it is by far one of my favorite new spots to eat.
