This show is a jukebox musical of 19 songs strung together with lots of talk by the 4 characters who portray the women who have been ditched, dumped, divorced, and are dating. The show starts out at a speed dating venue and the 4 characters lay some groundwork for the show ahead. The good part of this show is the singing. All four women do a great job and they do a credible job signing the songs that we know that were done by someone else. My favorite number was "It's My Turn" sung by the characters DeeDee and Kate near the end of the show. This would be referred to as the 11 o'clock number if it was a Broadway show. These two really belt it out!!In between the songs, I tended to wander mentally. There's a lot of talking. Much of this is more pertinent and understandable by the women in the audience. "I peed a little" brought many women to huge laughs and hearty applause while gaining a smile from me. The scene about painting the soles of the shoes red went so far over my head I thought the roof would have been blown away. I simply didn't get it but the women did. From a staging standpoint, they use the small Shimmer Cabaret very well! There are scenes projected on two screens at different times to represent two different apartments of the women in the show. That way, one or two pieces of furniture with the background projection can suffice for an apartment living room. The lighting is well done and the sound levels were good. Periodically there's a bit of a minor problem with the singer not being exactly on with the prerecorded music used but that was minor.I think if I were to recommend improvements in the show, I'd cut a number or two from the music and try to develop the characters a bit more without having them just be 4 women who throw out one liners. Unfortunately, there's a digital clock hung from the ceiling and I could see it very well from where I was sitting and I tended to look at it too many times during the talking phases. And a 14 year drought? That's a long time my dear! You need to get out more often and that section is ground into the floor.

The D Word Musical had good singers and some good actors, too. But I felt that the material that they had to work with was weak. There really wasn't that much sarcasm, which is one of the things that made the audience laugh. I actually saw a lady bring her kid, and watch out little kids, this musical isn't for you lol. The good thing about the theatre here, though, is that any seat is a good seat to view the show. Also, most groups of seats usually come with a table, which is good for the drinks that you order from the bar in the back.
