Szechuan/Sichuan cuisine suggested by Yelper Doriee L. Taste and texture was on point. This place is best to come with a group since dishes are priced and menued for family style portions. This place has potential!!! Just don't order the two things we got. Sadly for Vegas, anything that taste like Chinese food, that is not great, but not horrible would be a 4 stars. Nothing has been on par to 4 stars LA (which is 5 stars here), which has much more competition, more ppl cultured in the food, and has a larger dense community to judge/higher expectations of their own cultural cuisine. This place would be a Vegas 4 star, except all the sand and pebbles we kept eating. I'm very sure it can be a 4 star in Vegas. Many places that don't even taste like Chinese food still get 4 stars by ppl. Chinese food is expensive in Vegas because there isn't much of a community here, and both tourists and many locals don't know what it's supposed to taste like. 17. A-Choy, Garlic $15.99.- This has a bit of sand in it. Not cleaned well.10. Spicy snails $9.99. This is already premixed so you can not customize on the spicy level. - The snails are super tiny. The taste was medium spicy, with herbal hint of flavor I like. - This has A LOT of sand in it. Not correctly purged/cleaned. More than 90% of it had sand in it :/ Like alot of sand, not just tiny amounts in each one. On top of it, it's like tiny pebbles too. This dish is NOT edible. 3. Wok-Fried Pork Kidney and Liver $22.99. We asked for small spicy which translates to mild. SO enjoyed this. This dish normally is just too salty for my tastebuds which is normal. But at least it's not as salty, and taste better than Special Noodle Restaurant (a restaurant I'm not a fan of).I am interested in trying out a lot more dishes. I'm actually full of hope for this place. Because there really isn't that many decent places, I'm open to mistakes like sand, less clean process, etc. Doesn't mean I'll eat the sand. We'll just to find the dishes that's better. But everything tastes on point. :( Beggars can't be choosers.

I had a friend deliver a meal for us to share on NYE. I also had a hot and sour soup, very watery along with little ingredients: you barely have any eggs, fungus. Feels like I was drinking soy sauce, water and a little touch of vinegar. Snails were the worst. Crunchy from the dirt, I gave it a test by trying to nibble half of the snails but then I found a rock. This is not first time I found a rock in my Chinese food but I was expecting quality food from a raved review location. Eggplant with garlic sauce tasted like straight vinegar or rotten vegetables but it looks fresh to me, just the sauce wasn't fitting. Sigh. Washed my mouth with Soju, I felt I needed a cleansing. The best part was the shrimp but half of it was spoiled and it was cleverly masked by the spices. Yes I saw black legs too. Well, needless to say i will be detoxing tomorrow. Service was excellent by the way but stay away the food. I expected more for the price. In my opinion, the line cook failed the quality control.

Spicy zest was really good we ordered a bunch- I really like the flavorful sauce for the cold mung bean noodle. The garlic sauce eggplant was savory, a bit sweet and slight spicy. It was very good, eggplant was soft. The spicy chongqing friend chicken and mapo tofu were both good but not particularly special. The best dish we had was probably the cumin lamb and it was super flavorful. The lamb had a chew but still soft. The onions complement the lamb really well. Would give it a solid 4.5/5 for the food tastiness but food came out a little slow when there was no one so 4/5 it is!

Great little gem of a place that opened July 2024. The dining area is super clean and shiny new. Very bright with good lighting. Attractive modern decor. The service was good and the servers attentive. It was a bit slow the night we were there but they still showed interest and watched over our progress throughout the meal. The food was the star of the show! Everything was flavorful and freshly made. The fish filet and the eggplant were standouts for me. The duck was also good albeit a little under seasoned. This will be our new go to for spicy south Asian cuisine. The meal was enjoyable and the space is very comfortable. Give this unassuming little spot in a strip mall a try and you will become a regular.

Super excited to have an authentic Chinese spot in the southwest! Been twice already and loved everything we've gotten so far. If you like spice/spicy food, specifically mala/szechuan spices, this is the perfect spot for you. Even if you can't handle too much spice, there are options for that too. Most dishes are pretty sizeable and easy to share with a few friends (family style).

When I saw Spicy Zest pop up as a new restaurant on Yelp, I took a peek at their menu and immediately knew I had to give them a try. They had a few of my favorite things on their menu: pork intestines and pork kidneys. Spicy Zest specializes in Szechuan/Sichuan cuisine as a lot of their dishes will utilizing the numbing type of spice. We decided to come for lunch during this past Sunday and was seated right away. Since it was our first time here, we decided to grab a few things to share:Spicy cold chopped chicken - otherwise known as mouth-watering chicken or "saliva chicken." It is cooked chicken doused in chili oil. The chili oil is typically made from Szechuan peppercorn so this dish will leave a tingling feeling on your tongue. I'm not a huge fan of the tingling sensation but the flavors of the dish was decent. This dish is also served with skin and bones. I know some places serve it boneless and I would have preferred it boneless because the bones were really brittle in this dish. If I wasn't careful, I would be biting on bone shards and that would hurt. Stir fried lamb with cumin - one of my favorite dishes and Spicy Zest does not disappoint. There were a good amount of lamb pieces and each piece was plump. Many of the pieces were tender and full of flavor. I know some places will do this dish was sliced lamb versus pieces but I prefer the pieces. Definitely would recommend this dish.Wok fried pork kidney - I have been looking for this dish! I am so happy that Spicy Zest has it. This dish also contains spicy peppers, celery, onions, and some wood ear mushrooms. The sauce is a bit sweet, savory, and a bit spicy but not extremely spicy. Also, no numbing spice. The kidneys were cooked perfectly. They had a nice and soft texture to it. Honestly, if no one told you it was kidneys, you probably would have never guessed it. There is no off putting flavor to it -- flavorful profile is generally very mild and it is perfect when paired with rice. Stir fried pork intestine with pepper - also one of my favorite dishes! I love pork intestine but I don't eat it very often as it has no nutritional value. This is cooked with peppers and onions and has a nice savory flavor. Again the flavor has a bit of spice but not extremely spicy -- no numbing spice. Compared to the kidneys, intestines generally do have a distinct flavor and taste to them. It tastes like fat and the texture is a bit chewy. It's definitely not for everyone. However, I grew up with it and I love it. It is also perfect when paired with rice. Crispy fried rice with beef/shrimp - I was expecting regular fried rice since I wasn't really sure what they meant by crispy. Apparently, they meant it very literally because there were crispy bits in it, which provided a great textural element to the dish. The crispy bits are when you cook pieces of rice for a bit longer to get a crispy texture. It is even better than a regular fried rice dish. It had good flavor and wasn't extremely oily like some other places. Definitely recommend this dish. Service was good -- they checked on us every so often and refilled our waters. The establishment was clean and modern with pretty comfortable chairs. Prices are a tad high but I think it aligns with the market now. Everything is pretty pricey these days. Overall, I loved the food and will definitely be back! So excited that this place is close to us and I don't have to make the trek to Chinatown!

A bit overpriced, but we love the intestines, radish circular pastries that are super flaky, spicy pickled fish fillets, which don't have many bones at all and how the quantity is large. They have super cute decor and the chairs are a bit stiff but we like coming here for dishes that pair very well with rice.

The food is so good here! You do not need to drive to Chinatown for spicy Chinese food anymore! Spicy Zest has all the spicy food option you'll need and it tastes way better than the options in Chinatown! I can't wait to come back and try their frog and pork intestine!

The menu features dishes made with unique ingredients that might feel unusual at first, but there's plenty to choose from if you look carefully. The seasoning is a bit on the stronger side, but the food is delicious. The staff are friendly.
