My family and I ended up going to Sam Boyd Stadium to see a Monster Jam (Monster Truck) show. This was my first time at the Sam Boyd Stadium. It was in the middle of no where, or at least it felt like it. I drove all the way from NW Vegas (95/Durango) to Sam Boyd Stadium. As soon as we had entered, parking was pretty much overwhelmed and all parking was diverted to the dirt lots.It was a evening, Saturday night, at 7:00 P.M for the Monster Jam show. We had arrived about 45 minutes early to get our seats and pick up any snacks. It was quite packed. The seats were relatively uncomfortable, more like bleacher style seating. The rows were numbered, along with the seats. There is a bag policy, so make sure that you bring a clear bag, or your purse is small.Food and drink is relatively expensive here. It's comparable to other stadium food. The churros were disgusting. It tasted like rubber, but my daughter still ate it. The popcorn was stale.Overall, the show itself, the Monster Jam show, was a lot of fun, but the Stadium itself could use a re-work, especially the seats. It is a outdoor stadium. I'd imagine during summer, it could get really hot.

I've been heading to UNLV football games and for a 46 year old stadium built in a desert, the Sam Boyd Stadium is A-OK...Parking: Free Dirt lot parking for the games with a pretty close walk to the main entrance. The tailgating area offers a lot of space in a grass lot that makes for a fun tailgate experience. The UNLV vs Hawaii tailgate is always a great tailgate with fans from both sides having a good time before the game.Stadium: As I mentioned it's 46 years old and you can tell. However like downtown Las Vegas, it's functional and you can still have a good time if you keep your expectations realistic. It's an outdoor stadium with minimal shading unless you're by the score tower with the sun behind it. It's bench seating that's not the most comfortable but I know that at every game I go to here. There's plenty of snack stations and I really try to avoid concession stand food so I eat up at the tailgate. $8 for a wide mouth bottle of domestic beers to keep your buzz going from the tailgate. Two major tips dropped there...=) Staff: No issues with the staff throughout my visits and everyone I came across was pleasant. As of Oct, 2017 there is a new bag policy that just about limits most bags, backpacks, purses, etc from entering the stadium.http://www.samboydstadium.com/event-services/bag-policy/Henderson police present was evident through the stadium along with the stadium security. Shout out to the men and women who help keep these events safe, much appreciated. An old historic stadium that serves it's purpose and offers value for the football games as there really isn't a bad seat in the house due to it being a smaller stadium. Traffic isn't really an issue as it's away from the strip. Get a group of friends and you can have a really good time as I have. Enjoy yourself, it's a celebration! =)

There's a lot of events here from UNLV games to Monster Jam and more. We went to Monster Jam. I would pay the extra money for good seats next time. Pros: -it's in Henderson, so we don't have to go far-we didn't have to pay for parking in the dirt lot, not sure if it's always that way-layout of the stadium is pretty easy to followCons:-bathrooms are Disgusting-seats up top have no back support and it's near impossible to walk down the aisle to your seat -food/drinks cost a fortune, I guess that's anywhere though - they have a bag policy, NO PURSES...are you kidding me! -if someone is in front of you, your kid probably won't be able to see-security is a joke

Pretty decent college football stadium. I love that there is free parking out on the dirt lots. Plenty of space for tailgates and whatever you might want to do. I loved watching my team come in there and win by 31 points.I got to take two points away for the super uncomfortable bench seating they have there.

I've been coming here every other year..........just to support the University of Hawaii Football program. As an alumni of the University of Hawaii........isn't it the right thing to do?The Sam Boyd Stadium is not too far from the Sam Boyd's downtown hotels........I wanna say it's probably about 12 to 15 miles away, and very easy to find.A few things I like about this little stadium -- Free parking........yeah most of it is on a dirt road, but who cares? FREE PARKING! Get it?- Food & Drinks are a little cheaper than what I would pay at the Aloha Stadium. For instance...........Beer here is just $7 bucks, where as I pay $9.50 at home. But a bad thing about this place -There is no individual seating........just a hard metal bench seating. The good thing is you can pack more people into this little stadium, but the bad thing is.......if the game runs long, it can be pretty hard on your butt! This is a outdoor stadium.........and we Hawaii folks are not use to the "cold" in the winter time. I don't know what I was thinking when I came up here............as I was just planning on just bringing up shorts, t-shirt, & a light jacket. Lucky for me, my smart girlfriend told me that it would not be wise, and that I should wear pants & layer my shirts. Thanks Jules Y.! You da bestest & smartest gf!And you know what? As the sun came down..........and it turned into night.......it was quite nippy at the stadium. I see a few Hawaii bruddah's who went with shorts & t-shirts.........and I could see they were a little uncomfortable. But as for me.........I was warm as a puppy dog.......with the exception on when I left the stadium, and the winds picked up! MAN! It was so cold..........I felt like a frozen Popsicle! I had to blast that heater in the car for a little while.............but I was okay. Although we lost again, and took a beat down from UNLV. At least I was happy to see a lot of Hawaii people supporting the University of Hawaii Football program! The people of Las Vegas were nice, and there was definitely good sportsmanship, as there were no fights or taunting.

Dirt parking lots, long walk, crappy food, and even more crappy bench seats. It's difficult to be too harsh on the Sam Boyd Stadium. They did host U2, and it was the best concert of my life (and I've been to many many many concerts). The Good:1. Free parking2. Best concert EVER (U2/Black Eyed Peas, 2012)The Bad:1. Hard metal seating kills the buttocks2. Feels like high school3. Rinky dink food stands

Terrible entrance. (Both parking and into stadium) Terrible location. Terrible seats (uncomfortable and can't keep people from encroaching due to bleacher style) terrible bathrooms (can't handle amount of people even for a unlv game that no one shows up to) terrible Jumbotron (if you wanna call it that) terrible speakers .. born and raised here .. there is no reason for this building to continue to stand after raiders stadium done. I willOnly show up to an event here again if it's the demolition !

This is a small stadium with a horseshoe style set, meaning you walking in the main gate and if your ticket puts you on the other side, you walk all the way around to get there, there is no circular setup. Overall, it's clean and maintain well, we've never been disappointed with out seats, or the field. The big electronic screen for replay's isn't that big, the stadium seats are metal with a back, but hard on the.... so bring a cushion. Since we tailgate, we never buy anything to eat, but they have the usual, hot dogs, nachos and such. The beer is expensive, but this type of venue, it always is. We manage to bring in bottle water since they don't really look at bags that closely. It gets a little bit better later in the season, as far as the heat goes, but we always manage to survive. As long as UH comes to town, we'll be there to support them!

This Stadium is A-OK! For being located in Las Vegas, it should have been built with more thought. There is no shade for a majority of the seats located in this stadium making it almost unbearable to sit in for the game. I was miserable in the heat. The seat are uncomfortable so make sure you bring a seat cushion!!! The field itself is well maintained so that is a plus! The bathroom facilities were clean and everything. The food is at stadium prices if you know what I mean. I got a pretzel with cheese for $5 and two hot dogs. The cheese tastes gross! I would not recommend getting nachos or the cheese in general. As far as the hot dogs, they're standard stadium dogs. They only had ketchup and mustard for the condiments and no relish. I was a bit sad about that. Try to eat before going here and wear lots of sun screen!!
