Being a fan of Las Vegas history, years ago I went to the Blue Angel Motel at the corner of Fremont and Charleston to get a photo of the Blue Angel on her pedestal above the motel. The angel was designed by Betty Willis, the designer of the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign.Ne10 is a location of the Neon Museum for events and there's a section that warehouses extra signs that can't all fit in the Neon Museum on the Boulevard. angel is being housed. For a limited time, the Blue Angel is on display in the Ne10 warehouse area. There's a film about the statue and you can see the statue up close. A bonus are a bunch of old signs from closed resorts and shows. Tips: 1) There is no charge; 2) If you look at the photo with the Ne10 sign and you want to see the Blue Angel, turn around and look to your left. You'll see the entrance to the warehouse area where the angel is being housed. If you forget, there's a sign on the window telling you to do just that; 3) The display is open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only.Go see some Las Vegas history. The Blue Angel will be back. After this showing, she will be restored to her former good looking self. Keep in mind that when the statue was put up in the late 1950s, there were those who thought she was too buxom. It seems funny today.

Being a long time resident of Las Vegas, I was excited to read about this exhibit of an icon from long ago, the Blue Angel. I thought it only appropriate for my 300th review that my review be about some Las Vegas history. For many years, the Blue Angel towered above over the Blue Angel Motel twirling and whirling round and round. This run down motel that no longer exists was on the corner of Fremont and Eastern Avenue. Thank goodness she was rescued and is now waiting for restoration. Once she is restored, she will be placed back outside for public viewing. When you first approach her, you can see just how large she is. She was created in 1957 by Betty Willis and the Angel is made of fiberglass. Her wand was laid nearby and is also in need of some help. Betty Willis is also the same lady who created the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas. The Blue Angel's hands are large and worn from the elements. Overall, her condition is not that bad considering how many years she has been outside. The Ne10 studio is the Neon's museum administrative office and also houses some neon signs from some older properties like the Stardust and the Peppermill. It is easy to find off of W. Bonanza Road . The staff are very friendly and helpful. The young man that assisted my friend and I was very educated about the Blue Angel and was able to answer all my questions. This exhibit ends on July 6, 2018 so if interested see her soon.I like to think that back in my days of cruising Fremont street that the Blue Angel used to bless me coming and going. Ha! Ha!I am all about keeping the history of Las Vegas alive and well. I am happy to support the efforts of places like The Neon Museum and other local organizations.
