My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday around 7pm. It was busy but fortunately, they still had a few open seats left. We did not wait too long to be seated Chips and house salsa served. Pico de gallo is available for purchase as a side. Took a while for someone to take our order - maybe it was just busy. I ordered the asada burrito and my boyfriend ordered the enchiladas verdes (1 cheese and 1 chicken). They were both delicious. The burrito was larger than usual and had good presentation with the restaurant name on the tortilla and No issue noted with service. Our server checked on us regularly.Ambiance - casual, festive, lots of colorful decor. Price is very reasonable. No reservations- first come first served basis. Entrance and Exit doors are different. Lots of parking. This restaurant is located inside the strip mall. They have a bar restaurant (21 years old and above only) which is the one in Sahara - we may try this in the future.I would give this place a 4.5 however. It is not possible, so I am giving it a 4.

Food was decent, but overpriced. Sure the restaurant looked great and the atmosphere was very thought out to match El Chavo Del Ocho, but I feel like the food was just ok. Nothing special or amazing that I could recommend. Specially for the high price point.

A Great Meal at La VecindadWe were excited to enjoy a Mexican dinner, so we started searching for a new restaurant. My friend found La Vecindad online, and we all agreed to go there. La Vecindad is located in Las Vegas's Historic Commercial Center District, an area currently undergoing significant renovations. We managed to find a parking spot right in front and walked inside. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has an authentic ambiance. The dining area has two sections, with a bar on one side.La Vecindad began in September 2016 as a small food stand at a Las Vegas swap meet, founded by Raúl Martínez from Toluca, Mexico, and his wife, Vanessa Barreat from Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela. While working full-time jobs during the week, they dedicated their weekends to sharing authentic Mexican cuisine with the community. In 2018, with strong community support, they opened their first official restaurant location. Initially named Pico de Gallo, they rebranded to La Vecindad in 2020 due to trademark issues. Despite facing challenges, including a two-month closure during the COVID-19 pandemic, La Vecindad expanded and gained recognition, earning "Best of Las Vegas" honors for four consecutive years. It was also featured on the Cooking Channel's "Food Paradise" episode titled "Get in My Deli."There were four of us for dinner. My friend ordered Menudo (tripe stew), and my dad chose the Milanesa Plate, which features breaded beef served with rice, fries, salad, and handmade corn tortillas. My mom and I opted for the Carne en su Jugo, and we hit the jackpot!Carne en su Jugo is a delicious stew made with small chunks of beef simmered in tomatillo sauce, mixed with pinto beans and crispy bacon, served with handmade corn tortillas. Our server mentioned that this dish is a family recipe handed down from the owner's grandmother. I'm not sure if that's true, but the stew was fantastic! My friend felt his Menudo could have been cooked longer, and my dad said his meal was okay, but my mom and I were very pleased with our choice. To finish, I had flan for dessert, which was also delightful. The service was excellent, and the food was very good. I'm definitely planning to return next time I'm in Vegas.

Love the decorations! Takes me back to my childhood. That's what attracted me to eat here. The food is what will keep me coming back. I got a torta and it was delicious. Everything about this place is awesome. The servers dress like characters from the tv show. We went in almost when they were going to close, had just finished a volleyball tournament. Did not feel rushed. The free chips and salsa are awesome. I will be going back in May, we are not locals.

I research this place for I read this authentic Mexican restaurant theme was from the comedy show, "Chavo" This is worth the trip by car or bus to this original downtown plaza here today Las Vegas where it used to be busy in the old days. This center also has the famous Vickie's Diner at the entrance. This main restaurant is located in the far back of the big outdoor open air plaza. Use your Google maps to find it. People may get confused at the entrance is their colorful bar building opens later in the day. There is a green and white beetle car with a sign post point which direction is the main restaurant. Owners, Vanessa Barreat and her husband, Raúl Martinez started back in 2016 in a food stand. best known for our SUPER TORTA CUBANA and our amazing CAFE DE OLLA. LA VECINDAD Pico de Gallo. Food and Aguas Frescas are made from scratch and they were featured in a Food Paradise episode by cooking Channel, "Get in my Deli". The decoration, the paintings, and every detail was created by its owners which is pretty impressive family run business. Walking into this restaurant reminded me of my time in Mexico City and Guadalajara with the decorations with big groups of people at the tables. Very colorful restaurant. Lots of selections on the menu was hard to decide what to eat. I missed sweet mole pollo chicken so I got that and the popular cafe de olla which I took it to go because I forgot to order it with my meal. Relaxing settings when food arrived we all enjoyed our meals. I loved my mole chicken. Yummy in my tummy. Not many places make the mole sweet. I was sure if I was going to order the red or green sauce. My serve came back bring me samples of each to make sure I would order the correct dish. What a nice lady server. Back in SF Bay Area restaurants and people are all about spice. I rather taste my food and not get burned by it. lol All in all, if lived in this area, I would be a regular. Outside of the restaurants were large groups of family which I think they were waiting for the big private room section of the restaurant to accommodate them. Outside has the cut out of the characters from the adult tv show which is cute for the photo opportunities. Yes I would come back when I am in town again.
