A look into the future. The Hacienda is becoming the Hoover Dam Lodge.
2 queen non-smoking room - $27!
When the Hacienda becomes the Hoover Dam Lodge, it will look like a National Park inn.
2 queen non-smoking room - $27! Lots of space. That window over looked the pool/hot tub and a small hill outside.

They just reopened after a remodel down stairs. We stayed 2 nights in big roomie room. The beds were comfy, and the room was clean. Even with the helicopter business next door, the room was very quiet!I bought through an online hotel website and got a killer deal. I just had come off of 23 days of being on the river in the Grand Canyon and could not have picked a better place to mentally and physically regroup. The receptionist at the front desk was nothing but awesome.Oh yeah if you stay here, go for a walk on the trail that is at the back parking lot. A mile or so down the trail towards the dam are some cool railroads tunnels.I totally recommend folks to stay here, especially those that are pulling out of Pearce Ferry from a trip through the Grand Canyon!

The inn is the landmark of the majority of National Parks. Lake Mead National Recreation Area is not one of them. The way I see it the Hacienda Hotel & Casino, located off US 93 three miles from the Memorial Bridge; is the unofficial inn of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The Hacienda has the distinction of being the only hotel within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. This is the result of an oversight when the Government was buying up parcels in the construction of Hoover Dam. Instead of selling to the Government, the land was sold to private developers. In 1958, it opened as the Gold Strike Hotel (hence the Gold Strike Hot Springs Trail across US 93). In 1998, a fire destroyed it. It would be rebuilt as the Hacienda. This is an unofficial inn with history that dates back to Elvis Presley's "Jailhouse Rock." Just like many visitors to national parks, I use the inn as a place to relax, have dinner, and maybe have a drink. This location is a hiker's dream. Off the parking lot is a trailhead serving the spur trail to the Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail. From this perspective the vistas of Lake Mead are 5* breathtaking. When I visit the Hacienda at sundown, I try to have dinner in the cafe first, then take in a 5* sundown over Lake Mead before taking in the Lake Mead version of night life. When the weather is cool, I enjoy using the trailhead for a hike along the Railroad Tunnel Trail to the Hoover Dam or Memorial Bridge. Or I will hike the Railroad Tunnel Trail to the River Mountains Loop Trail. I have enjoyed dining in their cafe (discussed in my previous review). The food and prices are decent. I approve of the spaghetti and meatballs with the chicken noodle soup. I also approved of the coffee. The time before last visit, the service was slow when on the last visit it was fast. The cafe is commodius making it easy to get a table. I have passed over the buffet. Just like I passed over the generic food court. The nightlife is what I would expect in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. In the relatively small casino, there are two bars. I enjoy the bar near the north entrance. There is a talented band that performs to the few people that the bar holds. The patrons could be interesting. Last Saturday when the band did "Love the One Your With," the patrons started talking over loving yourself because your the one your with. I'm sure that I wouldn't learn this lesson of life at a big bar. Being near Las Vegas, it is ecpected that this unofficial inn showcases the one armed bandits. The machines are updated to the point that they are ticket in and ticket out. An interesting fact is that gambling is prohibited in Boulder City. So when the developers built this casino in the 1950s, it was in a strategic location to grab the business of motorists coming from Hoover Dam. When the weather becomes cool or I am driving through the Lake Mead National Recreation Area on US 93, I will most likely return to the Hacienda. I see it as The Inn at Lake Mead National Recreation Area or The "I." This hotel & casino does a fantastic job at serving as the unofficial inn of Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The Daniel. We stopped in here because we needed a bathroom break and a snack of some sort after the long drive to Hoover Dam due to the traffic situation. We had no water left in the car either so we were very very thirsty. This was the closest hotel from Hoover Dam so we stopped. The casino area is really really small and Mexican tourists seemed to be the only clientele here. There is also only one restaurant serving buffet and one snack shop opened. Only reason why they got a 3 star rating is because there is a helicopter ride right by the hotel for those of you wanting to get a closer look at Lake Mead or the surrounding areas. As the billboard states, rooms are always available and always $30. Hmmm.... is that a good sign that you always have rooms? I'm not so sure about that. They also have 99 cent shrimp cocktails, but that's another review.

We used to come here a lot before they recently closed down to redo the place. It just reopened and it looks awesome. It actually doesn't stink like cigarettes yet. We came to have dinner and play a little. The casino area is still small but very clean and nice. If you've been here before, the floor plan hasn't changed but it has been updated. We were excited to come back and check it out but were disappointed by the menu. No prime rib. Not sure what kind of casino doesn't offer prime rib. Salad consists of Caesar or iceberg , although don't worry about it because dinner doesn't come with any salad or soup or bread anymore. Just a little piece of meat and a potato. 8oz steak, tea and nothing else was $20 so not outrageous -- just not noteworthy. No steakhouse. Everything seemed to be cooked perfectly. The prices are fine. But I probably won't be back because the corners they're cutting ring of "cheap" to me. We can play somewhere else I suppose and eat a good meal while We are there.

We tried the Hoover Dam Lodge Cafe at about noon time. We asked the waiter and was told that we could order the Dinner menu. We then both ordered the New York Steak. For the price of 16, it's not pricy but about norm in the Sim city. There was no bread served, so we asked and got confirmed again by the waiter. I ordered medium rare and my friend ordered medium. When the foods were served, I found out both steaks were overly-cooked. I called the waiter to complain but in veil. Worse dining experience I have had in over 20+ trips to the Vegas area. DO NO dine in here unless you have to. Bad.

It's sad to think that this will be one of the last reviews of the Hacienda, as it is being bought by Dotty's and converted into the Hoover Dam Lodge beginning sometime in late December. Probably for the better.I visit my family in Boulder City as often as I can. I love coming home to the tranquility of my home, mom's cooking, and playing with the dog. I love going to The Strip and Downtown LV, but the 60 mile round-trip adds up, and it's more worrisome getting wasted and having to drive. The Hacienda has seen better days. It has seen better days since 1999 when it first opened. When Obi-Wan Kenobi described Mos Eisley as being "a wretched hive of scum and villainy," he was actually referring to the Hacienda. The guy to your left might have TB, and the wench to your right might throw up on the table. I've seen both. I have never slept in the rooms or eaten in any of the outlets--I don't like the odds.Having said that, I love the Hacienda. Table minimums are usually low, drink service is quick, and I don't worry about money when I'm there. I can gamble for hours and hours at open tables and if I lost any money (unlikely), I chalk it up as an entertainment expenditure. I have FUN here!

Not bad for a Vegas quick business trip. Not as glitzy as some hotels but it did the job. Clean and had a good night's sleep. It was near where I did some business and far away from the lights and glamor of the strip. It did the trick for me. I would stay again if I was on business but not if I was here on a pleasure trip.

This is a two-star hotel and casino at best, but this review is mainly for the buffet. It is what it is, since the purpose of it is more like a stop for truckers to eat and gamble while they're on the road, or for a quick stop for anyone passing down the highway. My friend and I stopped in on the way back from Lake Mead, looking to grab a quick bite to eat. This place is extremely small, and we were amazed how there was a $2 MINIMUM (yes you heard right, MINIMUM!) on the tables here! Figured anyways for the location and how tiny the resort is.Unfortunately, the buffet is the *worst* buffet I have ever been to. While it's dirt cheap at $8.95, you get what you pay for. Their selection is as quaint as the size of the resort, with only American choices at best. The rice was bland and completely flavorless, the corn tasted something completely different than corn would (very hard to explain, but if you're curious go try it for yourself!), the banana cream pie was nothing more than painfully sweet sugar, the salmon was overcooked and tasted/smelled like it had been sitting for a few days, the hamburgers were way too salty and seasoned, and even the carrots from the vegetable bar didn't exactly taste right. I would think it would be difficult to screw something up in the vegetable/salad area, but for some reason the food here tasted a little off. The only decent items were the fries, the mashed potatoes and gravy, and the frozen yogurt. Again, the only reason why we came here was because it was the closest thing in the area when we were starving, but never again. The service was also extremely lacking, but I felt bad because they probably didn't get enough business as it was. It seemed like the majority of people here were tourists, truckers, and senior citizens.

The bill for one night in a 2 queen AC non smoking room was $27. TWENTY-SEVEN DOLLARS! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms had all the basic amenities a hotel room should have. And the rooms were huge! and very clean. It was a pleasant surprise for $27. There was a good live band playing at the bar. Drinks were inexpensive too (but that's a given for a casino). I don't gamble so I can't rate the casino itself. There is even an all you can eat sausage-eggs-bacon combo for 99 cents. NINETY-NINE-CENTS! The premises are very clean and ample free parking. Great place! Watch the hoover dam documentary in the mini theater if you get a chance. It's free and it's interesting. I would go back there for any of my Boulder City, NV needs.

The wall paper was peeling off the walls in spots in the hallways, the carpet is worn, the lights flicker a little, but the beds are comfortable, they towels are clean, the the water pressure is good in the showers, and the pool is cool. I'd stay here again without a thought. Last time I was in Boulder City I stayed at the Boulder Inn and paid $98 for a smokey room with a door that had been kicked in very recently and a bed that sagged all over. Never again. The Hacienda Hotel & Casino was $38, right near the Hoover Dam and our room had a view of Lake Mead. What more do you need after a hot dusty day of mountain biking?
