What a nightmare of a trip. I'm so sad. We arrived at the hotel to check in at 3pm. Their kiosk machines were down. After waiting for an hour in an immobile line whilst staff handed out waters and candy for the wait, we eventually were asked to provide our name and number and told to wait for a text telling us when we could check in. We were patient and said ok, let's check our bag and go hang out on Fremont street. My back was killing me. All I wanted was to get in the hot tub. Only to find out that it closed at 5. Finally, around 6pm, I couldn't handle it anymore. I asked my husband if we could go to the front desk so I could speak with them. They were helpful. They tried. They got us upgraded into a different tower and said they would waive the resort fees for us. Meanwhile, I'm still physically uncomfortable and the entire trip has been impacted. Upon getting up to our room, we were disgusted to note the absolutely filthy front entry way that it looks like it'd not been cleaned at all. Then when getting into the shower, we find mold in the caulking. So gross. Even the window film was peeling. This place makes way too much money off of its guests for the accommodations to be this way. The first night we were here, I had gone up to the room and my husband remained downstairs. Apparently, and I say this term loosely, "ladies of the night" ie prostitutes are allowed in the establishment. My husband was propositioned and asked if he was looking for company. What is happening to this place?!Today is day 3 of our stay. We Just attempted to go the pool area to utilize the hot tub. I was looking forward to the relief that it would bring my body. Nope. Never mind. The pool is closed. It's 3pm. It's been unavailable to us 2 out of the 3 days we've been here so far. This is how I found myself here, writing a review. This experience has not been a pleasant one. I could have just stayed home or taken my husband somewhere else to celebrate his milestone birthday. Ah yes, I failed to mention the entire reason for our visit. He loves Vegas. He loves Fremont street. He hasn't loved this birthday trip. We typically only stay at the Golden Nugget or the Circa when we visit. This has made such an impact on me that I'd rather pay to stay at the Circa where at least I know we won't run into these issues. I'm sad to say that we likely will not stay at the Golden Nugget again. I definitely will not be recommending it.

We decided to stay at the Golden Nugget for our Anniversary. When the bellman brought our bags to our room we inquired about all the noise in our room. He said it won't be a problem. There was nothing planned that night that would be noise. When we checked in we were told we had been upgraded to the Gold Tower so we were excited for an enjoyable stay. Unfortunately our stay was terrible. LOUD music played until 2:20am! I don't understand how rooms that expensive can have no soundproofing. The noise was unbearable and the ear plugs provided by the hotel were a joke.We finally got a couple hours sleep and checked out early to go home.

Whoa Boy! Now usually these bad reviews on casinos would be because someone lost and they are upset. This is not the case. This may be a long review but there is a lot to say.I reserved a Spa Suite at the Golden Nugget for the Super Bowl. I am told to check in at the VIP station upon arrival. I get there around 12:30, waiting at the VIP sign for about 5-7 minutes finally somebody comes out of the back and guides me to a self check in kiosk. I could've done that, but whatever. I get checked in right away and they give me my room key to room 5950. I go to the Spa tower elevators level 5 and all the rooms are 5A, 5B, 5C, etc. Where is 5950? Back down I go. I ask the lady by the kiosk where 5950 is and she points me to the elevators I was just at. I tell her there are only lettered rooms and she needs to check her computers. After roughly 3 minutes she says her computer is down. I go to VIP again, and they cannot do anything. At this point I have no idea who to turn to. So I figure let me check out the Casino Credit area, they must have a big boss in charge. But a housekeeper I guess hearing my dilemma points me in another VIP lounge where they could help me. FINALLY! This lounge is what I needed from the beginning. The lady was nice and told me my room was on the Ninth Floor room 9A. I was on my way. In my room around 2:00 I lost my time to go in the pool but whatever I gotta order pizzas quick the Super Bowl is on in about an hour. In the room, gorgeous room! It is simply the best room to get on Fremont Street hands down. But unfortunately, no ice. And there are no ice machines in the entire tower. VIP gives me a card key to get ice from another tower.Super Bowl starts. I got my pizzas, everything is going great. Until beginning of the 2nd quarter. Bald maintenance guy knocks and asks to look at my bathroom because there is a leak below us. No problem check it out. About 3 minutes later he says no leak, thanks, sorry for bothering. It was all good. Back to the game! Middle of the 2nd quarter. A different maintenance guy comes in. No knock. He apologizes, and mentions he's there for the leak. I dont make a big deal of this but ANYONE coming in my room without knocking is a big freaking deal. Anyways, a few minutes later he said sorry to bother and leaves. THREE more times they come in ( twice knocking, once not knocking) and now its halftime they say they have to shut off my water so no using the downstairs bathroom. I have had it, I go to the desk to explain everything. She was very apologetic. She gives me a late checkout and a big refund so I only have to pay $199 for the room. After the game is over, they have to move us since they shut off the water. My 2 floor spa suite with immaculate jacuzzi now turns into what they call is a suite but looks like an old rundown room with a tub that I refused to use as paint was chipping off everywhere. At this point I don't think I should be paying anything. And the guy at VIP says he takes everything off and gives me a $100 food voucher. Food voucher works and that was nice and the fact that I'll be paying nothing feels good after the crazy aggravation I've experienced all day long. Well upon checking out the next day I come to find out I am still paying $199 plus resort fees. I probably should have fought for that 2 hundred but I can't. The fight is out of me after the day before and I just want to go back to having fun in Vegas. And it was an epic trip. Golden Nugget was just the gross honeydew in my fruit cup I had to put up with. I wont make that mistake again no matter how beautiful that room was (That I didn't ultimately end up staying in)Go to Circa, its amazing there.

As far as location goes, this has become my go to hotel of choice when visiting Vegas. Located in the Downtown area, which is very lively, it keeps us away from the Strip. The hotel has several towers, most of which are off the casino floor. The main attraction when visiting in the warm months is the pool with a slide though a shark tank. The pool is enjoyable, however seating is limited and mostly first come first serve. However, there are seats available for a fee should you arrive later in the day or just want to sit with your entire family/group.The hotel rooms have been updated and overall very clean. The casino floor is always the place to be whether you are gaming or watching. Weekends, are next level and security to get inside the casino is tight.Several restaurants are located on the ground level. There is a small gym and spa facility. This place has something for everyone. Good option for families, couples, friends trip or should you be visiting solo. Also, prices are reasonable and parking is included with in and out privileges.

I'd say one of the biggest draws of this hotel is the pool slide that goes through a shark tank. "The Tank" closed a bit early for the season, so we couldn't take advantage during our recent visit in mid-November, but I've gone down the shark tank slide before, and it's pretty cool. It's still a lovely sight during the colder months, with the aquarium glowing in colored lighting at night. This past Saturday, we arrived around check-in time, and it took a little over 20 minutes to get to the front of the line. Haven't encountered hotel check-in waits like that since the olden days! Self-parking in the garage is free for hotel guests. You can park in the garage before checking in, then scan a code at the front desk to get an electronic parking pass (just need your license plate number). The hotel room was sufficient, clean and spacious with all necessary amenities (hairdryer, temperature control, table, extra seating), but no fridge unless you book a pricier room or package. The eateries at this hotel are nothing special (we opted not to eat here during our stay). I do like that they have The Chocolate Box candy shop on site though. The casino, also nothing noteworthy... there were a lot of card tables and roulette open this past Sunday late night, but we found only one Craps table, so that's where we ended up. We also did some sports betting and watched the Niners game at one of the outdoor bars on the Fremont Street Experience (the Stage Bar), sipping on delicious frozen cocktails, while watching several screens of football on a Sunday afternoon. Enjoyed some live music here this past weekend as well. Decent spot to stay, off the strip.

From September 1-5, we stayed at the Golden Nugget's Rush Tower for 4 nights. I booked rooms at the Nugget because it was close to the Downtown Grand where our real estate classes were held. We haven't stayed at the Nugget for around 7 years since we have been getting better comps at the Orleans. The Nugget's Gold Tower is where I have stayed around 40 times in the past, and while it is not as luxe as the Rush Tower where I have only stayed once, the Gold Tower rooms are adequate and closer to the casino, so I prefer the Gold Tower. The Nugget also has two other towers, the Spa Tower and the Carson Tower, but I have never stayed in rooms there. The first and only time I stayed in the Rush Tower, I didn't like it. The room is darkly panelled, so it is difficult to find the light switches in the room, so I stumbled around cursing in the dark until I located the source of enlightenment. I also did not like that the bath has a large overhead rain shower ceiling fixture so it was difficult to avoid the initial cold water blast when turning on the shower. However, on this second time staying in the Rush Tower room, I was more than satisfied. Since I knew where the light switches were generally located, momentary navigation in the dark was not a problem. And when I got into the shower the first time on this trip, I noticed that the shower had a bottom spout so realized that there must be a diverter or there would be no need for a spout. I found the diverter hidden behind the spout and was able to direct the water flow to the spout to warm the water before being blasted by icy water from above. In fact, the water pressure in the shower was great. It was much stronger than the pressure in any other hotel room I have ever stayed in, and even exceeded the shower pressure at my home. I didn't want the shower to end, but since taking residence in the bathroom is no way to live, I reluctantly completed this activity. Aquaman would love this place 'cause it would completely blast the scum off his gills and scales. The rooms in the Rush Tower also include a small refrigerator so peaches, nectarines, and bottled and canned drinks I bought at Trader Joe's were chilled after returning from the searing 100 degree heat outside. The downside of the Rush Tower is the price. While my room was comped, even though I haven't stayed at the Nugget for over 7 years, my two companions each paid over $885 for their 4-night stay. Ouch.

Worst experience. Called and made a reservation back in December for a room with a king bed. Called a month ago to switch my reservation to 2 queens. Get here to the hotel and they have nothing available with the 2 queens THAT I MADE A RESERVATION FOR. I was told they were sold out. Then why do I make a reservation. Asked to speak to a supervisor, and the agent told me they were too busy. WTF KIND OF CRAP SERVICE. Now my daughter has to try and sleep on a little couch because they don't have rollaway beds. Bullshit

Pros: Staff was kind and refunded us for two out of three nights after we decided to relocate to a different hotel. Cons: if you don't like your suites to be decorated with the semen, blood, food, or the makeup of previous guests, then I do not recommend staying here. Housekeeping came to re-clean our room after we first entered, to find that most of the surfaces appeared to have not been cleaned before our stay. The re-cleaning helped somewhat but, unfortunately, we continued to discover more human goos and garbage left by past guests in our room later that night after we returned. When we sat on the bed we also discovered that it had a very noticeable slump in the middle; the boxspring was broken. The hotel did not have any other available suites. We were exhausted after waiting for housekeeping to clean the room, and slept on the visibly broken bed. The hotel room also had a lot of wear and tear that we would have overlooked, had it been sanitary. We moved hotels after that first night.

I've been going to the Nugget for years. I realize they remodeled the Rush tower and we picked the Carson Tower for a lower price, but they definitely need to pay some attention to the Carson Tower now. It is very worn out. Our friends' room had a broken phone and issues with the shower. They tried to call and just had to leave a message and no one ever got back to them. There are no people working anymore at the reservation desk. Only if you're a VIP. There is a person or two wandering around with I pads. If you ask for help, they tell you to use the kiosk. If you ask a question, they have you call later. We were super disappointed in the lack of customer service - which we never had before! The casino floor waitresses were great. The restaurants - Claim Jumpers and Saltgrass, we amazing. The whole facility should be like that. While this was always my favorite Vegas place to stay, I don't know that we'll be back.
