Kapena performing on Saturday night

Flavors of Aoha is a two day celebration of Polynesian music and food. This year 2024 the even was held at Craig Ranch Park in North Las Vegas. It was a free event with free tickets that you have to get on-line but they did charge $10. to park. They had a musubi eating contest, fire knife dancing, a night market, a lantern release for the maui fire victims, food venders, and Saturday offers a car show with an additional purchase ticket.I learned by attending this year that it would be much better to attend an hour or more after opening because almost none of the food was ready at opening time. All the food venders have to wait for the food inspector to inspect them before they are allowed to open. 3 stars is a positive review on Yelp and translates to A-OKYou will do better than me if you attend latter in the day or night for this event.

Admission is free and no ticket is necessary. However, the website loudly instructs visitors to print free tickets. Of course, this requires you to submit your email address and phone number (unless you enter fake ones). Therefore, the website is using this deceptive tactic to collect personal contact information. What they do with that information is not disclosed on the website. The website gives minimal details about the event. For example, Kapena was the headliner that performed on Saturday this year. However, the website did not say what time they would perform. There were plenty of food vendors at this year's event, held at Craig Ranch Regional Park Amphitheater. However, there were no vegan options, which is the norm at "9th Island" events and restaurants.Despite the event being advertised as "a gathering of all things Hawaii," the website is devoid of any reference to the continued existence of the Hawaiian Kingdom today--in the absence of a treaty of cession as the only means to terminate that country. All things Hawaii includes this current legal status, and therefore the national consciousness that it entails.
