Desert Moon Motel

Soooo.... The manager read my review, which I appreciate... but only acknowledged half of it... didn't acknowledge the disrespect I witnessed, and the shower or the tile... He offered to give me a free night stay... but when I reached out to hotels.com where I made the reservation, they can't give me my money back (for the mentally and physically traumatizing trip)? Why? This was the worst motel experience I've ever had.. please please please... own up to it... y'all messed up... that's okay it happens...but again, accountability homie. When I got back into Santa Cruz, I ended up heading to my doctor because the wound just kept opening and bleeding. I had to get two stitches in my foot, so I'll likely be posting the insurance summary for that for y'all to see. (This was due to the piece of glass I pulled out of my foot which he acknowledged but sheesh. )Says himself that can't blame me for never wanting to step foot in his property, so why would I want a free stay, love? You can offer me free services, but not just give the money back and own up to the poor service already provided? Come on honey... have a little bit of compassion. I'm 25, I was trying to enjoy what should have been the time of my life..

It's a hooker house. Smelly run down dive with plastic on the nasty mattresses. Misleading photos too. Horrible dive. Don't believe the lie this guy is claiming about me. He made it up to protect his hell hole. The room was horrible and not even a place to have my clothes. And you call a microwave on a table a kitchenette. I couldn't even get through the front desk right after I checked in. They knew I was scammed. Total lies and what a joke to try and call me a liar?! Total made up story to cover his aaa on this truthful review. Go see for yourself. Unbelievable. And since the front desk ignored me after five minutes of checking in as I wanted to get out of there I disputed it that night and got a room elsewhere. Not 2 months later. 10 minutes later. Lies lies lies. Sad this guy does this to people.

Doesn't look like anything in the pics my room was filthy , there was shoe prints all over the hot tub like is was never cleaned After I had filled water into it there was dead insects ! , I had to go to the store to buy bleach and clean in my self it was so disgusting, there is no refunds and the male at the front is a joke he was so rude in everything that he said , save your money and don't go here , there's much better .

Seriously folks... this is the first time Yelpers have disappointed me. I had expected a LOT better from a 4.5 stars on Yelp. The pictures uploaded by the Owner make the place look so good. Here's the reality:1. Though it is on Fremont street, it is NOT at Downtown (the Fremont Experience).2. The Motel is tired and old-looking. See my pictures here of paint and baseboards peeling off the wall, plastic "greenery" decorating a wall-unit AC that we couldn't turn off and ended up just unplugging. 3. The room is super small. Hubby and I chose a King-size room (in reality it's a queen bed). We wonder if we had chosen two beds instead of one, if the room would be bigger? Though to be fair, our bathroom is large and can fit my dog's medium crate comfortably.4. Smell of smoke in even a "non-smoking" room5. $25 pet feePlus side: 1. There are a fridge and a small microwave inside the room.2. There are W/D outside accessible to all.3. Good Keurig coffee in the small office.4. With being a small motel, your car is parked right outside your room.

The saving grace for this place is the awesome customer service here. Anthony and Gina were very accommodating, and the housekeeping ladies were helpful and friendly. However, that's about the only positive to this place.We brought our dog and loved that this hotel is pet friendly! But the mini stretch of grass meant to be for the dogs was completely filled with poop. There is an empty lot nextdoor which is also filled with poop, and was even all down the sidewalk. Since this place accepts pets it would be nice if they maintained the area for them. We stayed for a week in one of the newly renovated rooms. Upon checkin, the rooms floor was sticky and there was something creepy in the bed (see picture). The bed was made nicely and it was clear they had tried to make it look nice but didn't quite hit the mark. Sheets had a stain on it and a couple of the bed slats under the mattress were broken. The headboard was completely unattached and would hit the wall every time we sat on the bed. The jacuzzi bathroom had a nice rainfall shower head but we didn't use the jacuzzi function because it looked dirty. Fridge was clean and the closet was clean as well. As for the environment, this hotel is on a very shady stretch of road. There were clearly prostitutes and drug dealers on the property and around the vicinity. There are cameras on the property, but we still worried if someone was going to break into our cars. There weren't any needles in the parking lot or down the street (that we saw). I was getting lewd comments while I would leave the room like "I would have brought a couple more dollars if I knew you were in there" - super super uncomfortable.The people in room nextdoor to us had a very yappy annoying dog that kept us awake and kept our dog pretty pissed. We heard screaming through the walls multiple times which also woke us up in the middle of the night. Not sure how often of an occurrence this is but it was definitely concerning. We won't be coming back but we appreciate the wonderful customer service from everyone!

Day 2: I'm glad the owner is paying attention to his business. Thank you Jason for making this right. Dawn at the desk wasn't too happy that I didn't come to her first, but right after we were given the key, she was closed. Plus, she went to check the room before handing us the key, so apparently the room was up to par for her. The new room is beautiful. Clean, lots of towels, and a bottle of wine. Since today is my birthday, we will definitely be enjoying this tonight after dinner.

Adriana deserves an award what she has done for the place is amazing not to mention she has a heart of gold you can tell she has a passion for what she is doing here so I would definitely recommend staying here keep up the good work guys

This place is a DUMP ! Stay away if you value your life. Upon checking in there were obvious prostitutes and drugies in the parking lot and coming out of rooms. Homeless people hanging out in front. The Motel next door had 4 cop cars in the lot , who knows what happen. So entering the room was like entering a nightmare. Broken door, red liquid splashed on the back. Another door had a hole punched in it . The shower was covered in black rotten mold , disgusting. The floors were filthy . Everything was gross and dirty. The beds had hairs of all types . The sheets were black!!! What hotel/motel uses black sheets ?! The room next to us had music super loud , sounded like it was actually in the room. We backed out, and checked out , we literally feared for our safety. We took the loss, didn't care about losing out on our money. NEVER have i ever left a hotel. Upon checking out the front desk guy got really upset, as if getting upset was going to change our minds. We only let him know so we couldn't be held responsible if someone broke in the room and stole the tv or something, we knew we weren't getting our money back . He walked out and had to have his wife check us out. They were both very nice up until that point. If you check my acct you can see all my reviews are short and sweet, I've reviewed one other hotel who now deserves extra stars after this horrific place . The good reviews for this place are fake. The nice pictures are bs. I wish i had taken better pictures but literally just wanted to get the heck out of there.

Complete scam. I checked in and was assured my room was up to par with the online pictures. Hell- there wasn't even a place to hang or put my clothes and the window was jarred open. It was a total unsafe dive with plastic under the sheets too. So when I went back to the front desk- it was dark and closed and nobody answered the phone. Not even the next day when I tried to call and get a refund. They then demanded I pay when I didn't even stay there and took the liberty of disputing it with my credit card company. Now I'm taking legal action and letting everyone I know about this scam. Don't stay there.

The worst hotel I've stayed at in a long time. I would never go back. It's in a very sketchy area and that's only the start.... There was a "no smoking" policy for all rooms but my next door neighbor was smoking outside of her room for a long time and my whole room smelled like smoke. Manager offered a spray that "eliminated smoke." Next morning, a guy was outside of my room, two doors down, sitting at a bench watching porn on his phone in his left hand and pleasuring himself with his right hand--I wish I were kidding. I will never, ever return to this hotel or any others in this part of Fremont Street.
