We are a family of 6 (2 parents + 4 teenagers) and did this for one of the kids birthdays. We booked the Red Springs Ride online which was pretty easy to do. They told us ahead of time not to fill out the forms online and wait until we got there. Pretty simple to fill out. The wranglers were super nice and helpful as soon as we arrived. There is a bathroom on sight. Also make sure you only bring small items that fit into a saddle bag (a water bottle, wallet, phone, etc). No backpacks or large purses. Once everyone checked in, they asked us to line up. They matched the entire group (about 20 ppl) with horses and mules based on size and experience. Several ppl in our group were 1st timers or nervous - the wranglers were patient and caring with everyone. The ride was perfect.....peaceful and beautiful. We're locals and wish we had done this sooner - it's sometimes easy to forget the beauty of red rock. The wranglers had everything under control during the entire ride (about 90 minutes). We made a stop (you must stay on your horse) and they took group photos and selfies for all of us. The horses and mules were great riding partners! My particular mule tried to stop and eat several times in the beginning but the wranglers encouraged me to strongly guide him and we were all good after that. We highly recommend this particular company for horse riding and would love to come back again. All the wranglers were amazing (thank you Violet)!

What an awesome experience! I booked the sunset ride with bbq dinner. Booking online was simple. Hardest thing was deciding which hotel I wanted to walk to for pickup. Shuttle bus is clearly marked when it arrives. You are given liability forms to complete (don't bother filling out online as the 2nd page was missing for me). When you arrive at the ranch, you will hand the forms to a wrangle. There is a restroom there and then you're asked to wait near the fire pit for further instructions. Next, a wrangle will give you instructions about what you can take on the ride and they have small saddlebags to put your items in. Small wallets and crossbody bags fit. No glass bottles or selfie sticks that extend. Water is provided. You are asked to line up so they can decide which horse to assign to you. Once the horse or mule is retrieved, a wrangle will help you get on. I am short so I really had to lift my leg up! Horses and riders are kept in the pen area until all riders are ready before heading down the trail. Our group of 21 riders hard 5 wranglers leading us out. They kept an eye out for both the riders and horses and gave us additional instructions as needed. There is a photo stop about 15 mins into the ride. They will do individual and group photos. After photos we were on our way for a beautiful ride. Although it was overcast, the colors of the sky and landscape were beautiful. We were lucky enough to see a coyote walking up the hill. He stopped, gave us a long look before continuing on. The horses didn't seem to mind! Some of the horses need a little prodding to keep up with the pack. Don't be afraid to make kissy noises! It was dark by the end of the ride, but the horses know their way back home. Oh, the dinner ! You are asked when you arrive how you want your steak cooked, if that's what you selected when you booked the trip. Salad, beans, and potatoes are served with your entree. Dressings, condiments, and soda are provided. After dinner (not rushed as other reviewers have stated), we returned to the fire pit to roast marshmallows for our s'mores on chocolate chip cookies (Chips Ahoy). The bus pulled back up, which signaled the end of our adventure. In our group, we had a wedding party of 14 (fun to watch them get on the bus in wedding attire!), 2 families, 2 couples, and 4 soloists. Everyone was very friendly! Our wranglers did an outstanding job of keeping us safe and stayed in communication with each other via radio. A very diverse group with interesting backgrounds. Just ask about their background and they are happy to share. If you get Koa as a wrangler, ask him about catching his hair on fire! Twice!

Money well spent! For a first time rider this was a great experience! In all the years I've lived in Vegas and come to Red Rock, I've never come here to ride horses. Hike yes, but never ride. I had been missing out on such a cool experience. We took the 9am ride. However there are other options for you to choose from. The location is located not too far from the Red Rock Canyon entrance. You can't miss it. There's a huge sign that says HORSEBACK RIDING. Once there, follow the signs. Don't park in the parking lot with the rest of the cars. Drive in and up to where the horse stables are. Just about everyone in our group didn't follow directions and walked up. Follow the signs kids or you're getting more exercise than you need. Upon arriving we were greeted with friendly faces, horses and paperwork. The staff was available to answer questions and direct us on what to do, take and have for the trip. They provided sunblock, a satchel for belongings and instructions on how to ride your horse. The guides will line you up and give you a horse's name that fits your height, weight and experience. They help you mount your horse and give you confidence about doing so. You will be provided time to get to know your horse to see if your personalities fit. Not to mention to see if you're comfortable. Once everything feels good from your stirrups, saddle and over attitude, we were off. Our ride was 2 hours, reaching elevations of over 4500 ft in elevation. Our group of nearly 20 people, which was considered small, began with a steady incline up. Numerous switches backs, ups and downs. The group had first time riders like myself all the way up to experienced riders. We were provided with views you typically wouldn't get unless you were hiking to these heights. The staff rode with us, checking on all of us to make sure we were comfortable throughout the ride. Making sure we held the reigns properly and providing reminder instructions of what to do when going up & down. Throughout the ride we got close to the edge of the canyon. Big steps up and big steps down the trail. I got lost numerous times in the moment of just being in the experience. The guides stop at spots to take photos of you and your group, along with selfies of your horse. Speaking with several of the guides they provided information about their background & answered questions. The further we rode, the more comfortable I was riding. The horses, mine specifically, were on auto-pilot. They've been on these trails SO many times, they could do it themselves. However they do get snacky, so you do have to refocus them. Make sure to eat and drink prior to coming. Not to mention have something to snack on and drink while on the ride. It is getting in the hotter months, even in the mornings. The ride is that, a ride. We didn't get off to eat or drink. You do it along the ride. Bring a hat of some sort to protect you from the sun. One rider got over heated and couldn't ride and further. Once you get off your horse, that's it, you're done. Upon arriving back, we rode past the stable of what seemed to be an additional 20-30 more horses. Once back at the stable the guides helped us off and asked about our experience. Watch your step getting down, this is where the horses poop and pee. Which is also something you'll see on your ride. The horses walking and pooping or stopping to pee. What a great experience! My gf was ALL smiles and is still smiling from it now. I enjoyed myself as well. It is definitely something everyone should try local or tourist when coming to Red Rock Canyon. If you are afraid of heights, they do offer a flat trail. If you're afraid of horses, understand they are very friendly and tame from beginning to end. Ask for Stoney, he was a great ride, even if he was a bit stoned at times :)

Thanks to all the wranglers/guides They were all attentive and professional, explaining and being sure that the clients were seated well on their horse/mules.If you enjoy these butt to noses trail rides, this is it. Be sure to dress warm and have gloves, it was beyond burr, especially when the wind blew.

We had a Sunset Trial Ride booked with this group and I have to say it was such a fun and relaxing experience. The staff/wranglers were absolutely wonderful. They were professional, attentive, and you can tell that they love their horses. We drove there ourselves but they are able to pick you up at your hotel on the strip to bring you to the stables. Dinner was also delicious, they really do know how to make a good steak. After dinner we had s'mores by the campfire which was a great bonus. I've been on other rides with different groups and these guys were definitely my favorite. 10/10 would recommend. We will be back again (:

In A Nutshell:-Cowboy Trail Rides is an awesome escape from the Strip.-Here you'll be able to do a morning ride along Red Rock Canyon.-There are several beautiful horses & mules that you'll be paired up with.-I was paired w/ the stud stallion appropriately named, "Traveler".-You will sign a couplw documents, receive a safety briefing & then set off for a 2 to 2.5 hour ride.-The first half is uphill where you climb 2,000 feet to get to around 4,000 feet elevation.-There is an opportunity for a photo op, where you can give your phone to the guides to snap those smiles.Overall, this is a cool place to ride horses just 5 minutes from Summerlin.

A great morning spent riding! I grew up riding horses and my husband has ridden before. We still both really enjoyed ourselves. The views were amazing, trail had inclines and declines which made it fun. Our wranglers were super attentive and made sure our saddles were on straight, checked in to make sure everyone was ok. We had a great time and already wanting to plan out next ride. Thank you for a great day Cowboy Trail Rides!

I loved my experience! I forgot his name but one of the wranglers let me ride King! Being an experienced rider I was excited to ride him, he's Percheron and Clydesdale. So pretty! Thank you for informing us on more knowledge about the environment! You can ride all times of the year!

First of all, there ain't no horses to ride, you can get either mules or ponies. The trail ride it's like going on a carrousel, there's no control from the rider and it wasn't two hours of riding. Anyhow, all of the things before would've been fine if it wasn't for the little care and efforts given by the staff, especially one of them, the man told us what to do in a very mean way both in Spanish and English, making the experience annoying. Overall, a disappointment, maybe it's because we were expecting too much from a horseback riding business.
