Having closed during covid, this is our first venture into this restaurant. When they shuttered for so many years, they should have chained the chef, that made those awesome asian bbq ribs, to the door. Too bad the ribs are gone. K on to the food. We ordered a Tonkotsu Ramen and a Kalbi plate. The Ramen was tasty. But at first glance it didn't look complete... While they included half a boiled egg, it was at the bottom of the bowl instead of inviting you to say hi while floating above the noodles. Additionally, there was a strange lack of green on the surface. Not that I'd expect some extra greens with Tonkotsu, but you usually at least see all of the greens onions in a bunch to the side. Not scattered all over. I mean Japanese food means presentation, no? What was presented looked like a homemade product. AND, no gyoza on the menu. A sin.Getting back to the dish, it tasted ok. Not a very great example of a Tonkotsu broth, but for a casino offering, ok. Now, the noodles. As a previous poster said, these are not ramen noodles, there is a difference. Totally agree. It was obviously the same noodles as the regular saimin at the Market St. Cafe. No kansui, not yellow or bite at all. With Sun Noodles supplying pasta all over the nation, there is no reason to not have actual ramen noodles in ramen.Kalbi. Every yobo family has their own take on kalbi. That being said, this offering was delicious in it's own way, but not something I'd make. The end product was so drenched in gravy that it was a paper napkin makers dream. I think for most local folks who order this, it will be a winnah. Very sweet, wet and slightly too salty. Which leads to another question... where's the mac salad to cut all of that? LOL, not even offered. The portion was huge... I mean gigantic. 4 slabs of LA Kalbi, nice. check out the aftermath in the pics. Sure put us down for not stripping all of the meat off of the bones, but it was really a lot of meat. Overall the meal was good. A fun change from eating in the Market St. cattle call. I forget what the food coupons cover, but there are a few things covered. They should print menus with the palm tree on them... other then that, you get something like $2.75 off of regular prices.Oh BTW, the service, from phoning in, to being seated, to watering, taking orders and service, the people in here were really good. Pretty sure we had Antonio... excellent.Aloha, good luck. Quit when you hit something decent...

After all the trips we've made to Vegas, we finally got to enjoy a bowl of oxtail stew at the California Noodle House in The Cal Hotel--and it did not disappoint! It's almost as good as my dad used to make, which is saying a lot. Unlike the Market Café, where oxtail stew is only available late nights, California Noodle House serves it up anytime. Definitely worth the stop for a taste of home!Service from the front door and table side was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The restaurant was tastefully decorated in an Asian theme. Highly recommend!!!

I've passed by this restaurant so many times and never thought of giving it a chance as I wanted the oxtail soup instead at the Cal. My cousin was visiting and wanted to eat here. For the portions of each item you order is literally like a family size portion to share for your table. I ordered the Kalbi and it had 4-5 pcs. We tried the poke nachos, won ton and char siu for appetizers, all was good. I took a bite of the oxtail stew from my cousin and the meat falls off the bone and it was good. Service was great! This place is so underrated as everyone wants to try next door. If you don't want to wait and just eat, this will be your go to place if you're ever at the Cal or nearby.

Wanted some noodles and so what better option then to come to the California noodle house located in California hotel in downtown Fremont street, or so I thought. Ordered the Tonkotsu ramen and was the most bland ramen I've ever had, I was really disappointed that it tasted more like saimin and also looked like saimin granted I did get it without the chasu and mushrooms. We also got the oxtail stew and my family said it was decent. Our server Pedro was very attentive and great, went above and beyond and the hostess was the sweetest and very helpful as well.

This rating is just based off our service, which is unfortunate because the food...was not bad. And comparable to food back on O'ahu. We got poke nachos, edamame 2 won ton mein and 2 "da cal combo". Da cal combo was good size with so much food, I couldn't wait to make the review about how good it was. But then, unfortunately it went downhill. Our server was Pedro and he checked on us once . We watched him continuously check on all of his tables, and he didn't bother to check on us. We actually got tired of waiting and my husband went to get the hostess to let Pedro know we needed water and also requested for our check. I heard her call him and ask for our check to which he acknowledged. He checked on 2 other tables before finally making his way to the cash register. While at the register, he stopped turned around and asked the table behind him if they were doing ok. One of them asked for another beer to which he promptly ran to grab for them, again putting another guest before us even tho we had requested for our check and had been waiting. My husband finally got up and asked him for our check. It's unfortunate because we love the vibe at the Cal and the food. But that was not what we expected, and not to the standard which we had come to expect from the Cal. Probably would not visit this eatary again as it left a bad taste in our mouth due to the service. Being from Hawaii, we, a long with a numerous friends and family are frequent visitors to Las Vegas. California Noodle House is definitely going on the don't even bother list.

A new experience in the right hotel. When the Hawaiian locals visit The Cal Hotel. They will notice a new noodle restaurant in the casino. When ordering the ox tail stew, come hungry. It's a big bowl of stew. But only one scoop of rice. I guess you could asked for more. The bowls of noodles with the amazing broth. The broth is so flavorful and rich. I had the da cal combo, it had enoki mushrooms, soft boill egg, wun tuns, noodles. The char siu was flavorful as well. With a slight remodeling from the previous restaurant. It's was a updated look with booths and tables sitting. Pros: Was there in December and hot soup hits the spot with out going too far. The soup and noodles is a up grade from the saimin in the hotel Cafe. Lots of goodies in the Ramen. You can use your aloha coupons...4 meals and the coupons reduced our bill by $30.Con: My stew only came with one scoop of rice but you could probably asked for more. Would I go back? Yes, If the dishes we have tasted great, would like to try the other items

This place claims to have "ramen," but don't be fooled! We went in to have the shoyu chicken ramen, only to find that the noodles are not ramen noodles, but saimin (there is a difference)! The service is a bit slow due to being understaffed. The ambience is sterile, the experience was not friendly. I wish I had another night to try their tonkatsu ramen. The meat in my ramen is not like the shoyu chicken found in Hawaii, and it was dry even in the broth. I left very disappointed.

I actually wrote this review back in mid-2024 when they opened back up. But my review was posted by Yelp against the old California Noodle House, not this new one. So I am just moving my review over this the corrected location.YELP needs to open this place up - they closed down during the pandemic, but they are now back open, for about a month now. New cook and new menu. It is rumored that the folks from Tomo Noodles are running the place, but I did not confirm this. Here is my review of the new menu:Prices are fair and what you would expect to pay at a casino restaurant.Regarding the food/dishes that my wife and I ate, we thought the food was mediocre at best. I will comment on the dishes we ordered. We ordered a variety of dishes that we thought would make up a decent meal for the two of us. We started with a salad which was priced at about $10 -- just a bowl of field greens with a handful of cherry tomatoes thrown in. No slivered carrots or slivered purple cabbage. The dressing was Asian and pretty good, but the salad itself was meh.The chicken skewers were priced at $12 for four, three-inch-long skewers. The meat was boneless thigh meat and marinated in a pseudo teriyaki sauce. My wife thought they were pretty good. The char siu was subpar; the marinade was off-tasting and they drizzled some kind of sauce over the meat. Not even close to authentic Chinese char siu pork - price was $13 for the dish. The Cal fried rice was also mediocre at best. The ingredients were fine and there was plenty of it, both the rice and the ingredients. Lots of lup chong slices, spam, scrambled eggs, onions, etc. But the seasoning was off. The dish tasted pretty bland. Authentic fried rice uses either harm har or oyster sauce as the sauce basis. This dish used just soy sauce (I think). Price was $15.For my entree I ordered the oxtail stew with rice. I must confess I was very disappointed. The stew was not "brown gravy based" but "tomato paste based". Therefore, the gravy was very tomatoey and sour in taste. Potatoes pieces were fine, but the onions, carrots, and celery pieces in it were chopped too fine, making these ingredients turn to mush in the stew. I had a decent number of oxtail segments -- five in total. But four of them were small segments about 1.5 inches in diameter. The fifth segment was about 3.5 inches in diameter. I believe the stew itself was cooked too long (or maybe not enough people order this dish and it sat on the stove too long). Therefore the four smaller segments had all the meat fall off the bone into the stew's gravy, and it turned into small indistinguishable pieces. The fifth large segment was not cooked long enough and therefore I couldn't get the meat off the bone! Overall I thought this stew was a disaster, both with respect to its taste and it's preparation. I can't remember the price of this dish but I think it was about $20.The best thing for this meal was the sorbet trio -- mango, lilikoi, and coconut. The three scoops were each about a large tablespoon each. Smaller than the typical ice cream scoop but larger than a melon baller scoop. We both loved the dessert. If they change up the menu a bit, we will try again. The Cal needs this Asian type of restaurant to augment what they already offer.

Another hit or miss restaurant unfortunately. The service was slow because they said they weren't staffed properly because usually it's slow. However, our server was very nice and did his best with what he could do. Overall it's a nice place but the food was yet to be desired upon. EXCEPT the pork chops and the Poke Nachos! The pork chops and poke nachos were very good. The fam and I thought those two things were very good. Our Spicy Garlic Chicken was over cooked and super dry (as you can see). The restaurant was kinda nice though and well decorated. But as always, try it out for yourself so you can make your own decisions :)
