"Came in for lunch and was greeted the moment I walked I in. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries. The burger was tasty. The fries were crispy and seasoned perfectly. Great service and I liked the artwork."
"My apartment community held a Juneteenth pool party with Papa Joe's catering the event. Chicken, Catfish, Mac'nCheese. Green beans, etc. The highlight was the Catfish. Cornbread fried, not greasy, and flavorful!Brandy and her husband run this down homemade business. They will be moving to a new location on Spring Valley in a few weeks."
"I ordered through a state of the art touchscreen and payment kiosk on the truck. The one guy in the back made one of the best shrimp po boys ever. It wasn't cheap but it was huge and delicious. Really nice guy and I will definitely get one whenever he comes to my work that rotates through food trucks. Sorry I inhaled my food before I got pictures"
"Listennn when I tell you I've been waiting to take my wife here, it did NOT disappoint. This hospitality is unmatched. You feel right at home right when you walk in. The food you can taste the love and soul. We are so glad we came and found our spot to kick back and relax. The drinks are strong and the music is fire. We definitely are coming back as loyal customers."
"Around for years, now making Eater's 38 Essential Restaurants in Vegas. What took me so long?Outstanding soul food. The "Mississippi", three well seasoned, cornmeal crusted, fluffy and moist deep fried catfish filets, a bowl of buttery grits, well cooked collards and a to die for 12" thin and crisp waffle all for a little more than a quarter cheques?Don't like my choices? How about juicy fried chicken wings (stolen from a poker bud's plate), grilled pork chops, sausage patties and choose from a plethora of choices of sides, biscuits and breads. Everything is also available ala carte so mix and match anyway you like.Omelets and sandwiches including the requisite po boys available. None sampled. After all, you gotta have grits at a placed named after them.Very friendly service. Not fancy. Busy AF. Eat and get out so someone else can do the same.Worthy."
"Excellent service. Affordable pricing. We ordered the Cat Fish hoagie very tasty youll need a huge aperite for this one. Chicken wings, red beans and mac n cheese was amazing. We drove from the NW area just to eat here. Our good friend recommended it. Support local businesses."
"When I tell you I have been stalking this food truck! I am so thankful he's very friendly and extremely professional. He has great energy and will text you his location as well as the menu. He asks exactly what you want or may not want on your items. He's well informed about allergies and it was so clean. I am excited to finally try his food. Will update, waiting with patience.Food: was delicious, he will text you your total as well as confirming the order. My salad was so good and he used romaine! Yes Lawd, some places will use iceberg lettuce so I appreciate the value of ingredients used. Will be back asap."
"Amazing soul food that you can tell is made from the heart! The greens were flavorful and tender, the mac & cheese was CHEESY and seasoned well, and the steak and rice hit the spot! Ohhh and the strawberry shortcake.... BOMB!!!Great service because the food was still at a good temperature when it was delivered. Looking forward to more goodness from Angel And Ruthie's!!!"
"I am always open to trying new cuisine and I was so glad to try THE best soul food! I appreciate how special & thoughtful the packaging was for catering. I have recommended my friends & family to try South Eastern Cooking, so excited to know they will enjoy it as much as we did!"
"Parking was not a problem. I went on a Sunday at 11am.I ordered the following items:#1 Soul Rolls: egg rolls filled with mac n cheese, collard greens, sweet yams & fried chickenDYNAMITE! I would absolutely order these again. I feel like each bite tasted different because all the ingredients have distinct flavors.#2 Catfish Soul Bowl: couple pieces of fried catfish, mac n cheese, corn bread, and collard greensMy favorite thing on this plate is the macaroni; it's flavorful and the right amount of cheesy. The catfish was fried perfectly, although it could have been seasoned more. The rest was pretty standard. Wonderful! What made my lunch stand out is the music that was blasting... all the 90s R&B I love! I was feeling all kinds of good. :-) oh, and I can't forget the Kool-Aid done right with all the sugar."

What a gem located in a small strip mall around Paradise. Enjoyed the calm and chill ambiance Everyone should come check this place out before it becomes super popular and crowded. The food is spectacular! Ordered the peach cobbler waffle as a dessert option and the shrimp and grits! And, omg!! Soooo delicious!! The best Ive ever tasted! I can't wait to return and experience the rest of the menu.

When people come to Vegas looking for that hidden gem in the hood with the good food? This where you want to send them. You get that "real" catfish everytime, and soul food sides.

I ordered via postmates and the food was still hot when it arrived. I got the catfish nuggets because I didn't see a cat fish platter which was strange. Overall, the food was great! My only suggestion would be to cut back on the salt! I'm not sure if it's salt or msg but cut back please. There are people with sensitive palettes and they will taste it. As an elite foodie I can taste almost every seasoning in a meal. The kool aid was ok but I never drank it growing up so I don't have anything to compare it too beside homemade ice tea. The greens are smokey but not spicy so I added my own seasoning which was nice. The Mac & cheese is very milky and salty they over seasoned. The orange sauce for the catfish is tad spicy reminds me of San Jose's orange sauce for mission burritos. I love the sauce. The corn bread is good old fashion corn bread. I defintely want to try this place again.

Not sure why, but it was closed with a sign posted from the Health Dept...not a good first time visit impression! The cost of my order was reimbursed & I have not heard anything regarding a reopening date.

I finally got to try this restaurant! It's been on my list for awhileLocated in what looks like a business/industrial area, kind of off the beaten pathWe were greeted upon entering a seated quickly. Our orders were taken promptly and food arrived in a good amount of timeI had the catfish breakfast with the Sweet Potato waffle. Excellent excellent !My friend had the three wing breakfast. The wings were ok. A little bruised, wouldn't get again.I would definitely come back again to try other items on the menu.

Jerry is very hard working and the staff is very pleasant. I had the catfish and sweet potatoes and potatoe salad. The food was in point. I definitely can make this a once a week spot for me and my wife.

"Service was great! Very friendly people. The food I would give a 7/10. It needs more seasoning to me but it had great potential. I got two drinks as well one watermelon and one strawberry lemonade, SO GOOD!!!"
"Devils sauce! YOWZA! Now that is a real dipping sauce with KERPOW power. I'd buy a bottle please! The collard greens were perfectly delicious with a little heat to it. Not mushy, oily or salty. Best ones I had, wanted more. Its located at the foodcourt in Meadows Mall. Super easy. They accept CC. The cashier and food caller super friendly.Got the saba fish plate. Nice crust but somehow a tad dry for me. Love their plastic trays its served in. Also love their pickle and condiment selection."
"SERVICE: A++FOOD: A++First the owner is amazing!! Helped us choose everything and the food takes a little while because they are made in house and FRESH, made to order baby! She also shows the food before you leave to make sure you get everything and that you're happy. My favorite was the oxtail and Mac, I took the Mac and dipped it in the oxtail sauce definitely coming back, thank you for being so amazing Kerby!"
"If you're looking for crab (Dungeness, King or Snow) shrimp, fried chicken or catfish, give Southern House a try! It's operating out of a commercial kitchen, so no seating currently. But just take it back to work, home, etc. and have yo'self a dang good seafood feast! The Dungeness crab with garlic is soooo good. Too often, I've had crab at many other places and ended up with small bits of crab meat with that notoriously yucky texture from being frozen. Not here. My crab today was very meaty and super fresh! Can I say SUPER fresh? And nice and garlicky too. I really appreciated how well they handled an opening day glitch I experienced. Excellent customer service is a rarity these days, so I really notice and appreciate it when I see it. They are 5/5 on customer service, so I'm taking this into consideration too. Hope to try more menu items!TIP: Just call them upon arrival for curbside delivery."
"Any establishment that has Kool-aid on the menu is A-OK with me. I ordered the wings with garlic Parmesan and honey bbq sauce, tenders, and cheese fries. Everything was GOODT (with a T). I'm glad I took a chance and ordered from a new place. Good stuff."
"I can sometimes be picky with fried chicken, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was pretty good. My son LOVED the rice as well. I will definitely be going back."
"Do not waste your time or your money. I hate to be negative but... there wasn't a lot to be happy about. Over priced, food was underwhelming, portions were so so tiny. I ordered fried chicken with Mac n cheese, blackened catfish with collard greens, mashed potatoes n gravy, yams, bbq chicken salad, fried cabbage, and corn. And a peach cobbler. The fried chicken was 6 chicken wings. For $20. The Mac n cheese was legit, it was tasty and seemed homemade. The portion was perfect for a toddler. The price was more that what you normally pay for a toddler. The catfish was tasty, the collard greens were so salty I couldn't eat a second bite. The mashed potatoes and gravy were good, the potatoes tasted like instant potatoes but they were fine. However for the price of the sides I thought the portions were more family style... or at least more than a half cup. The yams were alright, again tiny portions. Salad was fine cabbage was fine and the corn tasted like canned corn with HELLA butter and brown sugar. But what really ruined it for me was the peach cobbler. $10 for MAYBE a cup of peach looking stuff with some crust tucked into it. It tasted like vegetable oil. It was basically oily canned peaches and pillsbury crust. We were super disappointed and will not be going back."
"I like the build your own ddukbokki here. It's by the pound so don't let your eyes get bigger than your bowl. I know mine almost got away from me last time. I've gotten the Rose sauce on both of my visits and it's the right amount of spicy, but don't get it if you can't handle any spicy. The rice cakes are good and my most recent visit I got wide flat noodles in mine. They were good and chewy and I realized I didn't need to add the udon to my bowl. I was a little disappointed they didn't have any fish balls this visit. Their tuna kimbap is so good. Ever since my first visit I couldn't stop thinking about it. Since I don't live in Vegas I can't exactly satisfy the craving. It's so fresh and delicious and helps if your ddukbokki is too spicy. I like the overall urban casual vibe this place has. It fits well with the food. The service is friendly, but I did feel kind of bad last time I went and it was just one woman doing everything and it looked like she was filling togo orders as well. It took us 30 minutes to get our two bowls, tuna kimbap and wings."
"My family and I were in Vegas for my husbands birthday we wanted some soul food.... I googled and found this place. It's 20 minutes from the strip and a small little family owned place and omg we loved it. The cook greeted us as we walked in. The food was fresh and delicious! Make sure you try the "stupid fries" they were bomb asf!!! I didn't get to take a picture because we smashed them as soon as they came out! We also tried the catfish that was yummy. The shrimp and grits were really good. The fried chicken is good and crispy, I love fried chicken. The kids loved the koolaid. The prices were decent. If you're in Vegas definitely try this place out!Only thing I didn't like is we had to wait over an hour for our food because there is only one cook and there was about 7 of us... but hey it was fresh!"
"When I say this is THE BEST southern style tamales that I have had in a long time, I mean it! My children's grandma dear, used to sell hot tamales back in the day that everyone used to go crazy about. God rest her soul. These brought back great memories. I saw some people talking about this place on Facebook and decided to give it a try. Ordered delivery for lunch and let me tell you that you're are going to absolutely love them! Let's just say I ended up ordering them again for lunch the next week. I tried the tamales, candid yams, Mac & cheese. Simply delicious. I was too busy stuffing my face, that I remembered to at least get a pic of the tamales. Sorry guys. You know I'll be ordering again or going to the establishment. So more pics soon. And everyone knows I'm big on great customer service.... The person I've talked to on both occasions, knows customer service! Go check this place out ya'll. You will love it!"
"Highly recommended! Food was made fresh and served hot off the stove. This is definitely REAL soul food. Everything was absolutely delicious This is definitely Texas style southern cooking. Red beans and rice have the perfect amount of spice. The chicken was fried to perfection! Great service, the owner is friendly and personable. Plenty of seating. We will definitely be back."
"I accidentally stumbled upon this gem of a spot, and I'm so glad I did! The place was busy, but after a short wait for a table, I was in for a real treat. I ordered the original catfish with three sides--yams, collard greens, and fried okra. As a New Orleanian, I've finally found an authentic Southern restaurant here in Las Vegas, serving up the kind of great food that's hard to find out here. Big thanks to Em, Tuni, and Teisha for taking such great care of me. I highly recommend dining here!"
"4 stars to Mario and this new location!! The other was so cramped it was nice to have some room! 5 stars for variety, he had so many things you can't find on this side of the country, things I only see visiting family back east and in the south. Nice variety of produce, sauces, literally a one stop shop. There are a limited amount of Organics but I know that's not why people are shopping here. We got fish cooked at the old location, but did more of a tour here. I will say that some things are kind of high, we're label readers now and love pork cracklins, found some that we were ok with, had two bags in hand and a $5 (they weren't marked) but they were $3.89/bag! We just got one lol. UPDATE: Went to try said cracklins and they expired today!! Because of this I had to make it 4 stars. But I consider this a specialty type store and sometimes you pay more in those places. Takes nothing away from the establishment. Our cashier was cute, I complimented her Vans matching her Mario's shirt and she was telling me her fashion philosophy. I love the greens growing in the doorway, and the selection of black/local mags. They had a markdown table as well. If you're in the area, stop by!!"
"Overall experience with food 2/5 stars and customer service 4/5 stars. Small/cozy restaurant in a shopping center. Lots of parking and seating inside the establishment. The gentleman behind the counter owned the restaurant and he was nice and explain some highlights on the menu such as the ribs and brisket. We went with the #19 which is the 3 meat combo and 1 side. We were a bit disappointed because you couldn't double the meat choice, mac and cheese was not part of the side options, you have to order mac and cheese separate, and for a platter you only get one side. But we ended up getting to additional sides so we could have everything we wanted. 4/5 stars - The brisket was tender good ratio of lean meat and parts of fat. 3/5 stars St. Louis Ribs - they were tender but w/out the bbq sauce they were pretty bland. 3/5 stars rib tips - same as the req ribs tender but w/out the bbq sauce they were bland, and barely any meat on them. 4/5 stars - Regular BBQ sauce - great flavor and seasoning 4/5 stars - Spicy BBQ sauce - great flavor and seasoning and good spice level. 1/5 stars - mac n cheese another bland item and the cheese was clumpy.1/5 stars - yams there was no texture to it just seemed like mashed potatoes. They was flavor but all you tasted was sweetness from the marshmallow.4/5 potato salad - had good flavor no major complaints on this one but it was a bit too sweet for potato salad I really wanted to love the place, I didn't want to write this review but again just my opinion."
"We were in the area this weekend and found this place on Google. It was a small cute little spot inside of a strip mall. There is only six tables, so we had to wait for a little bit for one to open up. It was too hot outside, and we were tired of driving so we decided to dine in instead of takeout.I was craving some oxtails and saw in the Yelp reviews that they served them. However, when we were looking at the menu there were no oxtails mentioned. Feeling disappointed, we just settled for a chicken dinner, and a rib dinner. A few minutes after we ordered, the guy behind us whom was clearly a regular ordered three oxtail dinners, and something else that was not on the menu. I immediately jumped up, and got back in line so that I can get the oxtail dinner I was craving. So, just know they have many more food choices that are not printed on their menu which sucks if you are not a regular that would already know this. We would not have known if that guy would not have ordered them while we were sitting there. Anyway, the smothered oxtails and rice was ON POINT!!!! Perfectly flavored, and cooked. The portions were small, and some of the meat was fatty, but still very much enjoyable. Oh, with every meal you get two sides to go with it, so I had the collard greens, and macaroni and cheese. The chicken dinner I ordered was not good at all. It was flavorless, and dry. Probably because they fried it in cornmeal batter, which can tend to dry out some meats. The customer service was great! There are two ladies, both taking turns serving, and taking walk in orders. They both were extremely busy, but still managed to keep a smile on their faces, and made you feel welcomed. That is probably the main reason why most people complained about not being able to get through to them on the phone. People kept constantly walking in, and food orders kept rolling out from the kitchen. If in the area again, I would definitely come back for the oxtail dinner. If you guys are craving something specific and it is not on the menu, just try your luck and ask if they serve it, because more than likely they probably do."
"The restaurant is now unfortunately closed but a catering service is available, and we used them for a Family Reunion hosted at the Echelon Event Center. From the minute, Ramona & Daniel, sate together with us to plan the menu, solved problems with another venue for us, we felt like we had a true partner and friend in our goal to make this event memorable for people who traveled form near and far. The quality and quantity of food, the variety, and the presentation were absolutely amazing. Family Soul had also provided us with (plastic) china & silverware which just looked stunning. The service was impeccable, the pricing was more than fair considering the amount of food we received. We cannot recommend their services enough and will certainly use Family Soul Catering again for any and all upcoming events."
"Want good Southern Down Home cooking. Ribs, Peach Cobbler, Baked Beans, Delishious Mac and Cheese and Collard Greens? My 15th Visit and we have never been disappointed."
"We came here for Father's day, not knowing what to expect and just looking forward to trying a new spot...this place was soooo good! As a pregnant woman I have become soo picky but everything was AMAZING! The Mac n Cheese , the YAMS and the smothered chicken and turkey legs! Delicious all of it! The owner was so sweet and her cooking is a must try. We will be back , my only regret is not taking a picture of the food!"
"Everything is always SO DELICIOUS & FRAICHE!! Pop up started 12/15 we were there that day, ordered egg rolls (veggie order and salmon order), the fried chicken, the fried shrimp and the Mac!-we didn't make it home with the food, we ate it in the CAR!! We went back that Sunday for BRUNCH! tried the pancakes, the eggs, the chicken sausage AND was greedy and ate a piece of CATFISH lol!! THEN my fam had a lil function and I ordered a full pan of catfish, everyone LOVED it...they are still talking about it to this day!! THANK YALL!! PLEASE STAY!! VEGAS NEED YOU!!! #ThisAintThat"
"You can go around town looking for good soul food but I'm tellin you right now..if it ain't from Ms Bobbies Kitchen you ain't had the best in Las Vegas!! EVERY SINGLE THING WAS RIDICULOUSLY DELICIOUS. BETTER GET YOU SOME..."
"Absolutely AWESOME! We are from San Diego...no soul food restaurants for us here! Lucked up on this wonderful restaurant with great food and wonderful people. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend everyone giving this restaurant a try, you will be glad you did."
