Yuck. Sorry to have to write this, but I will no longer eat here anymore. The quality has drastically gone downhill. I legitimately tried eating here over 5 more times & my family & I have been disappointed with the meat quality. The carne asada tastes like it's cooked in old pork fat & has no distinctive taste or flavor. Meat has been either burned to the point where you can't eat it (twice/2 separate occasions) or severely lacking any flavor. Hate to say that I wasted 3 california burritos on the last visit because no one wanted to continue eating theirs. And I hate wasting food & money!I hope the owner/management reads this & decides to look closer at their quality & revamp how they prepare & cook their meats. There are too many other good taco shops to compete with. I love Carne Asada & California Burritos being a native San Diegan & I hope this place figures out how to get better before they have to close up shop in La Jolla.

We went to the Taco Stand and the line was out the door, and with kids we wanted a place where we could get in. We came to Las Morelianas and should have known something was bad when it was empty and they said they're out of carnitas at noon. This is probably the worst taqueria food we had in San Diego. Tasteless bland tacos, guacamole that looked fake and squeezed out of a tube, and chips that literally were stale. Kids quesadilla looked like something out of a gas station and with fries that were barely cooked. Absolutely should go to the Taco Stand instead. Like how hard can it be to make this food? I'd say even Taco Bell way better.

These guys deserve so much more love than they are getting...and I'm about to give it!!Las Morelianas is within walking distance of the beach in the LaJolla area. I know because I just walked it to find lunch one day to bring back to the beach! It is all uphill from the beach, and perhaps 7/10's of a mile uphill, but well worth the lunch excursion!Simply put, their Asada Fries might be the best I've ever had! The fact that they get the fries crispy, and to stay crispy for the 20 minute walk back to the beach is incredible! The steak was just the icing on the fries with It's slightly charred seasoned self! The tacos were bomb too, however, I'd not recommend the carnitas tacos as they were a little too fatty! If you want the real deal for a taqueria kinda experience, and a great grab n go for the beach, then Las Morelianas is the place!!

I had a good Carnitas Burrito from this Mexican Eatery. It was a rather larger burrito and came with a lot of carnitas and a good amount of fresh guacamole, but I did feel they need work on a few improvements with the carnitas.Like I said, the burrito came generously filled with all the ingredients. The carnitas were tasty and tender, but they needed to be better reheated for the burrito. They were warm to room temp in the burrito. I suggest they put the carnitas in a hot pan or griddle to get them at maximum temp and build up those crispy edges. They should be piping hot in that burrito. The guacamole was good, but could of used some seasoning. The burrito could of used more pico de gallo. It was quite limited in the burrito. The flour tortilla was of very good quality and tasty. I was not a huge fan of the hot sauces. I felt they needed a more developed flavors. The staff was friendly enough.

Let me just start with what an a pleasant experience I had up this restaurant if you wanna call it that number ones over price foot it is a great the salsa, weak and watery the meat dry and the tortillas cold that's an experience taco eater. This is not a place you want to come and spend your money And also service with an attitude so save your hard earand money and go to the taco stand far better

Should have gone to The Taco Stand, even with the line. Apparently the new owners have been here 1 week. No salad, no seafood! They explained they have made many changes to the menu, which should include the name as well.Ordered nachos with no sour cream and no onions, they must have thought i meant to add double, which is what we got. The chicken plato was dry chicken pellets, small chunk of cold refried beans NO SALAD, rice was dry. Not much flavor. Salsa would have been a nice addition. Breakfast burrito was cheese, eggs, potato but was missing bacon, ham and sausage. Won't come here again, won't recommend. We ate about half the food because we were hungry.

This is now Pearl St Taqueria By: Las Morelianas and seems to be under new management in the past several months and it seems to be much improved. The menu is completely new too. At 5pm on a Friday, it was not crowded with plenty of seating. First of all, I would like to explain that I am a bit of a taco/burrito snob. I am ok with the crowded Taco Stand just up the street but I prefer the places in National City and Imperial Beach. Can you say Ed Fernandez Restaurant?! Anyway, back to the review...I ordered a shrimp burrito which is larger and according to my wife better than Taco Stand's shrimp burrito which she also loves. The owner said the shrimp was cooked fresh on the grill in garlic butter. Definitely a winner! I also ordered an Adobada Burrito with guacamole included. It was also huge and delicious. Make sure you get the red salsa which has a nice kick to it.Since both were cooked fresh, it took about 10 minutes for my order and I was chatting with the staff/owner about other menu items and she asked if I liked carnitas which was just freshly made. I said of course and then she gave me a free carnitas taco to try. She asked if I wanted "everything" or just lean meat. I like the idea of "everything" and it was served immediate and hot. And the best part was that she said the taco was on the house!! It was also delicious and I will have it next time for sure. (I just read other reviews and apparently they comp for new customers)Since I live nearby, I am so happy that this "new" taqueria seems to have improved for the better. So if you are in the area, I highly recommend giving it a try.
