Las Ahumaderas

My friend and I came here after 12am and it was so peaceful. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the cashier was so generous. I loved how how the menu was clear. You can either sit on the bar to order tacos or order then sit to get your food. There's a salsa bar with lemons and other stuff so you can serve yourself as much as you'd like which I love! The food was brought to our table very quickly,.. and the tacos tasted amazing! The consomé with meat was delicious but my favorite was the birria taco. The atmosphere felt like it was in Tijuana to be honest. The bathrooms are located outside and you need a code for it.

Went to this establishment a couple of days ago. Writing this review to talk about the quality of the food and service. During my visit, I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of service at this establishment. The owner was exceptionally kind and demonstrated a remarkable work ethic, ensuring that every customer felt welcome and well-cared for. The tacos de birria were nothing short of amazing, with tender, flavorful meat that melted in your mouth. Every type of taco, burrito, carne asada fries offered was a culinary delight, each bursting with authentic flavors and fresh ingredients. The dedication to quality and customer satisfaction was evident in every bite, making this a must-visit spot for taco enthusiasts. In addition to their incredible tacos, the selection of authentic Mexican pastries and snacks at this eatery was truly impressive. From the sweet and savory delights of their corn and crepes to the vibrant and flavorful tostilokos, every item showcased the rich culinary traditions of Mexico. I came here with my husband and sister. I ordered Mulita with carne asada and I thought it was really yummy. The tacos and mulitas were street taco sizes but a little more pricey than other taco shops in Chula Vista. They also had a corn dish that I thought was really tasty but again, small portion. (The pictures are a little deceiving in size.)We ordered the oreo crepe dessert which was also very yummy. That was a nice portion. Not exactly generous but a good portion.Overall, yummy street tacos and desserts just a little more pricey than expected.

I am always in search of a good Mexican street style taco and was excited to try this place. When we got there they had a grill outside and they were grilling the meat it smelled so good. I was disappointed with all of the food items I ordered. The flavor was good but the meat quality was very poor. There was big chunks of fat on every bite of the carne asada torta, the lengua tacos, the carne asada tacos and the birria taco. The only taco that was decent and had no fat but was a little undercooked was the adobada taco. They have a nice salsa bar selection and plenty of room to sit.

I have never been to the TJ location. I can only image that everything in TJ would be cheaper.When you enter this location, it reminds me of a UFC cage with the fencing around. The center is where you order. Everything else was meh.

First time here Bought my mom and brother. Friendly staff nice atmosphere Tacos were great full of flavor brother had a torta he said it was great tasting too. I'm glad we stopped. We will eat here again. A must try. Stop here you'll be satisfied.

Must try great food you won't be disappointed. Very affordable for the service and the quality you're getting . Finally got to check out Las Ahumaderas. Visited on a Saturday afternoon for tacos..I love the set up, you order up front and can choose where to sit after. You get a buzzer and pick up your tacos at a window. You can ask to sit at the "counter" and order your tacos one by one closer to TJ style. They also have GREAT service, the staff is courteous and friendly. Very welcoming. We tried a few of their tacos. Carne Asada: delicious definitely my favorite! Cabeza: very good a total treat! Lengua: good, but just ok, would try to try but wouldn't order again. Adobada: good, but not the best in town. The tacos are "smaller" in the sense the tortilla is smaller than your grocery store tortilla. However, they are thinner and double stacked. The taco itself comes with plenty of protein. So overall not a small taco. I would say 3 tacos is plenty. Aguas frescas: they have quite a few options. I had their pineapple, cucumber, and possibly mango one. It was delicious!! The tacos are reasonably priced. I think their priciest is the lengua at $5.89. So happy Las Ahumaderas is here and we finally got to try it!! I know no taco in SD will ever be a true TJ taco. Of course not. Just like no California burrito will be a true CA burrito outside of SD. Our how no one will ever make red rice better than the one at your mom's house. We get that! However, when you're craving tacos and don't want to cross the border just for tacos... because we'll you know time is money...Las Ahumaderas especially their carne asada will absolutely do it for me. Can't wait to be back

Closest to TJ tacos I've had on this side of the border to date. The vibe is really cool, it's indoor and they make it look like TJ taco stands. The carne asada is on point, probably the best carne asada I've had in a while. The adobada was good but not great. The aguas are very authentic and refreshing. They also have a good selection of Mexican Sodas. Looks like they also have a full bar. I will definitely visit again!
