Laodifang(老地方)- A Nostalgic Journey with Mixed Feelings I've been a loyal patron of Laodifang since 2017, and after seven years, it's time to reflect on my lamian experience here. In a word, it's been great to have Laodifang as a staple for Lanzhou lamian and lamb skewers when the cravings hit.Over the years, I've witnessed significant changes--prices have climbed from single to double digits, the soup base and chili oil have undergone various adjustments, and the staff has evolved from speaking primarily Chinese to including English-fluent servers. However, my feelings are mixed. The price hikes and smaller portions have been disappointing, and I'm not a fan of the adjustments they've made to the flavors over the years. Especially now, with easier travel back to China post-COVID, I've realized that Laodifang's quality feels a bit out of date compared to what's available back home.Despite these qualms, I'm grateful for the years Laodifang has been here to satisfy my nostalgia for Lanzhou lamian. It's been a comfort to have a taste of home close by, even as things have changed.

I'm not as familiar with Chinese cuisine beyond the obvious, so I couldn't have found LanZhou without a recommendation from a friend. Thankfully I found it! Super fresh noodles in several shapes and sizes in so many sauces, or dry, or in a soup. I had the soup and was very pleased. I ordered a few other dishes from the pretty long menu for which I had no preconceived expectations at all, and they didn't impress like the noodles. My wife had the noodles in a saucy dish, which was also delicious. The atmosphere is brightly lit and colorful, and feels a little like fast food ambience, but the friendly, informative servers were fast and attentive, so that impression evaporated quickly. Nom nom!

First time here and it was so good! The staff members were all so great! I got the sirloin noodle soup, assorted cold dishes, and the sour cabbage pancake thing lol. I also tried the hot oil noodles (not pictured) and the lamb skewers. Parking is absolute booty cheeks so please plan accordingly, especially if you're planning to go during dinner time. We went on a weekday and it was still difficult to find parking. Sirloin Noodle Soup was good. Very light with a good flavor. I opted for the flat noodles and the noodle texture was amaaaazing. You can tell it was freshly made. For the assorted side dishes, I got the mushrooms, tripe, and the shredded tofu. They were labeled as spicy but they weren't too bad. Spice taste was kind of like a mala spice mixed with Szechuan. Delicious af. The cabbage thing was also very good. Slightly tart, very juicy, with a hint of spice.Hot oil noodles were also veryyyyyyy good. The chili oil provided on the table is VERY spicy, so use with caution. The lamb skewers were delicious! A bit spicy (but I'm a baby when it comes to spice). Flavor was great and the lamb was tender and juicy. Would definitely come back here again!

I haven't been back for a long time, and we miss their noodles. This time, we ordered a big plate chicken noodles, a cold rice noodle salad and a big bowl of beef slices and clear noodles. All of the foods are so good, just as delicious as before. Since we ordered from Hungry Panda app, we didn't eat at their restaurant, all the packing is nice. We will definitely come back!

The noodles here are insanely good, I would eat them every day if I could! Service is super fast and friendly. I think the shrimp fried noodles are my favorite though

This is by far the best hand made noodles shop in the area. The ability to customize the size of your noodles really does make a difference. Whether you are a wide noodle typa person or a skinny noods person - this is the place for you. I have almost completed my journey here by trying every dish. Even the hot dried noodles were delicious. The two gentleman who are always there are pleasant and helpful. I also love seeing the noodle man making noodles. Thats how i am certain these are fresh hand pulled noodles.

The last time I drove through the Convoy Pointe Plaza Shopping Center, this business had a different name. Everything on the inside of the suite looked the same including the lime green chairs. I asked the waitress who was serving me if there was a recent ownership change. She replied that the owners were the same, but the place had been rebranded from Green China Grill to LanZhou Noodlelicious. That explained why some of the menu photos posted on the windows still had the previous name listed on them. The menu was available as a QR code at each table. There was an emphasis on the freshly made noodles from the kitchen which led to the rebranding. A couple of new dishes were listed on the first page including a Special Beef Soup. One aspect of the menu that I appreciated was a photo of the six available noodle types. I wish more Asian eateries would have such a display so you can see the diameter and/or width of each kind of noodle. For my meal, I wanted the Beef Pancake as a starter. The waitress recommended that I upgrade to the Sour Cabbage Beef Pancake which cost just $0.40 more. I took her suggestion and also ordered the Tomato and Egg Noodles. The pancake was folded into layers and then cut into five pieces on a plate. Not only did the pancake have tartness from the cabbage, but it was mildly spicy with seasoning added to the beef. As for the noodles, they came as a thin, flat variety. The tomato and egg were plain. The portion size didn't seem to match the nearly $14 price tag. There was a 10% discount if you paid with cash. I didn't have enough on me to cover the tax and gratuity so I requested to use a credit card. The service was pleasant, and my dine-in order came fairly quickly. The quality and quantity of food for the price led me to give between a three and four star rating for my experience at LanZhou Noodlelicious.

Service was fast and if you pay with cash, there is a 10% discount. We do have Lanzhou in Los Angeles. Came to visit and meet up with friends. Love their soup, taste was light but filled with flavor. Also ordered their three item appetizer. Not too salty but some items can be very spicy. I love that you can choose the thickness of the noodle and the noodles are made fresh to order. Parking can be a bit difficult as the spaces are small and tight. They have a lot of restaurants and tea places in this plaza.

There was no wait for our large party around 5pm on a Saturday night. Our table shared an order of three mixed cold dishes. My favorite was the woodear mushroom.I also shared the braised beef noodle soup and stir fried lamb noodles. Although the noodles were super fresh and delicious, everything else was just okay and lacking in flavor. The worst part of the meal was the amount of msg in all the dishes. It left me bloated, dehydrated, and thirsty for the rest of the night.

I went to LanZhou Noodlelicious today for the first time and was so favorably impressed that I felt that I HAD TO express the excellence of this restaurant. It was different from any other Chinese restaurant that I have ever tried in all of my 89 years on earth, and I've tried many in various states in the USA. The first impression was of a clean and cheerful place with a welcoming staff and great service. The food was amazing! I wanted to try everything, however, I did try the mixed three cold dishes (delicious and different...sort of like a salad), lamb skewers that were just fantastic, and I must say that the sour cabbage beef pancakes were so delightful that I had to bring some home for my friend. I enjoyed the sirloin noodle soup and there was enough to take home for tomorrow. My friends ordered different dishes which I tasted and enjoyed as well.I will say that the parking isn't easy but well worth searching for a spot. I intend to take my friend there for her birthday lunch next week.
