The wait is long because Lanna is short staffed, please be patient and kind. There's something about visiting a Thai restaurant that goes beyond good food. I think Thai cuisine in general just makes you feel happy and giddy, or maybe that's just me. Lanna has everything you're looking in terms of Thai flavor, Thai hospitality, and Thai esthetics. When you visit Lanna for the first time this MUST be your order: - Thai iced tea- golden triangle (appetizer) - drunken noodle with beef- red curry with chicken (side of rice) - East EggplantThis order will give you a good idea of the flavors Lanna has and will give you the confidence to try something new the second time you visit! I love spice but keep in mind Thai spicy is not what most Americans are accustomed to, so if you usually get a 5 spice level do 3 when you visit. I usually get 6 across all my dishes. The ambience is perfect for a night out or dim romantic dinner date.

We have been here twice before and we're not overly impressed. We decided to try it one more time and we each had a curry dish....now we're hooked! I guess we were ordering the wrong items previously but I'd go back anytime for curry. They do have beer and wine and I believe other cocktails as well. The ambiance is neutral and somewhat boring. The tables are extremely close together so little privacy. But if you're just going for dinner it's fine. The service is overall good but they always seem to be slightly understaffed. Staff is friendly but busy so limited interaction.

While I only tried a handful of appetizers from this place, I can tell it's definitely one of the better Thai restaurants in San Diego. My friend and I split the Herb Mussels, Curry Cup and the Mango Shrimp Roll. The Mussels were pretty good and I would get them again. I really liked the lime garlic sauce it came with and I used it on the curry cups, which were soo flavorful and had a nice crispy shell! This was both my friend's and my favorite dish that we tried. My friend didn't like the mango shrimp roll at all (I don't like mango or cream cheese so I didn't try it). He said there was way too much cream cheese and that was all he could taste. I would honestly love to come back here and try their actual dinner menu to see how it compares to their appetizers.

Decent Thai restaurant in Pacific Beach, close to the Fairfield hotel where I was staying earlier this week. Stopped by with a work colleague for dinner - we ordered fresh salad rolls ($10), green curry with organic tofu ($16), pad see ew with organic tofu ($16), brown rice ($1 extra) and jasmine rice ($3). My colleague likes her Thai food spicy so ordered it level 8 out of 10. The food arrived quickly. The salad spring rolls with peanut sauce were my favorite - fresh, tangy and delicious! The curry and noodles were a tad too spicy for me to enjoy thoroughly. The decor was interesting, and the service warm and friendly. I was stuffed so didn't order dessert, otherwise I can never say no to sticky rice with mangoes!

When u are in the midst of the best mexican food but u crave for some variety and dont feel like going out, one searches yelp and gets food delivered. I am so glad yelpers helped me to choose this thai place when i was away from home and i loved it.In $92, we got:- pad thai chicken 4/5 - spice 5/10- yummy and saucy with lots of protein- pad thai chicken and shrimp - 5/5 - spicy 8/10 loved it and wow such high quality protein so definitely worth the slightly extra price. Go for it!!- red curry with chicken - 5/5- spice 6/10- loved the flavorful curry with lots of veggies and chicken. It comes with white rice.- veggie spring rolls 4/5- 4 pcs - regular and good but nothing to rave about- mango and sticky rice dessert 5/5- loved the huge portion size to share and fresh mango!!#supportlocalThe spice levels are spot on and 5/10 is regular medium spicy.

I decided to try Lanna Thai based on proximity and the reviews. I totally agree with all the other good reviews - there is quite a selection of dishes here and it was hard for me to decide. Ultimately I ended up ordering the golden triangle appetizer which was unlike anything I've had, with a layer of chicken sandwiched between crispy golden layers and a flavorful dipping sauce. As for the noodles ordered, I don't remember the actual name but it was similar to drunken noodles and probably some of the best Thai noodles I've had in San Diego. I can also say that the food came out very quickly and the wait staff made sure to refill our waters and close us out in a very timely manner. While the parking lot isn't large and it seems like it could be a little hard to access depending on traffic, this is a great place and I look forward to returning.

I usually brave this shitshow of a tiny parking lot ONLY for Sushi Ota, but Lanna Thai has proven that it is worth doing it for. This place has been here for a long time, but I am glad I finally had the opportunity to try it out. We came on a weekday night maybe a week before Christmas and it was packed (probably because people were already on holiday vacation), so we waited around 15-20 minutes to be seated. We ordered a bowl of Tom Yum soup with shrimp, stir fry with shrimp, Thai basil, and asparagus (forgot what it was called, one of their specials), and Pad Thai with mock duck. I noticed that the prices were higher than your average Thai place, but the quality and portion of the food make it justifiable. The Tom Yum was flavorful and filled with veggies and giant shrimp, and the shrimp stir fry had a great wok hei char to it, and not a single piece of meat/veggie was overcooked. Our Pad Thai was so large that we were only able to finish half of it. The mock duck was well-marinated and tender; If other places were making a mock duck Pad Thai half as good as Lanna's, I would never order meat in my Pad Thai again.

I don't know how we got so lucky but this place was right across the street from our hotel. It is in a small shopping center next to a 7-11 and a sushi spot that is apparently also popping. The food was delicious, and much needed after a disappointing #47 taco spot in the country. The service was top-notch. The food, phenomenal. I don't venture out and try new things but blame it on the ocean air, I went with a NEW dish. I am not typically a veggie guy , but loved my dish. (Spinach, carrots, broccoli covered in spicy peanut sauce) The Pra-Ram!My wife went with with chicken pad thai. Also good, but for once in our life, we both liked MY dish better. It is usually the other way around. Whaow, mind blown! Sticky rice was excellent, it was slightly different than others I have had in the past with small little grains of puffed crunchy rice kernels on top. I do wish that the rice is a little more cooled off as it was difficult to eat with a fork without it falling all over the place. Definitely check out this spot for a great , and affordable lunch or dinner.
