Lalo's Mexican Restaurant

The outdoor seating is covered, so that was nice that we could still dine outside on a dreary, debatably drizzly Friday night.My chicken burrito was satisfactory. It could've used more flavor in the chicken, beans, and/or cheese. It came with guac and sour cream, which I wasn't expecting. Both girlies ordered a cheeseburger (lol) off the kids' menu, and they enjoyed it with fries. Each entree came with a cup of chicken noodle soup, which was a nice touch. The fried ice cream was extremely underwhelming, and I regretted ordering it. The shell was stale and not very crunchy, and it was swimming in way too much artificially sweet strawberry sauce, so that was a swing and a miss.

So, we stopped here for a quick bite, and I was overall pleased. The service is amazing. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I love the decor they had inside. The complimentary tortilla chips are served warm, and the house salsa is fresh and delightful. I was happy to see skinny margarita on the menu, so I tried one with passion fruit flavor, and it was so good. For my meal I had carne asada taco which was super tasty. For dessert, we did order the Mexican fried ice cream. We've only ever tried that at one other restaurant, so I knew I had to get it. I didn't realize it came with a strawberry syrup, and I was surprised at how good it tasted all together. I would definitely come back to try the rest of the menu.

When I lived in the city, I would visit the location infrequently. Since I moved out to Glenview, I visit Lalo's as much as I can. The manager and wait staff are terrific. The food always comes out hot and delicious. Although I go back and forth from the tacos to flautas, both are exceptional. Today, for the first time, I had the flan. It was the best I ever tasted.

I have been wanting to try this place for awhile now. I was in the area and craving mexican food. So here i am.Service was great. And the place is homey and nice from the inside. Some stuff to take note of1. Kids are welcome2. They dont split checksNow for the food. I ordered Lalo's Spicy Quesidilla. I love it. It has both steak and shrimp inside served woth sour cream and guacamole.I also ordered Flautas de Pollo. Its 4 pcs of flautas so i chose 2x chicken and 2x shredded beef.I honestly like the beef but the chicken was a bit bland. Feels like it wasnt seasoned and i didnt like the texture. Also got intrigued with their dessert. Ordered the mexican fried ice cream. It was ok. It has strawberry sauce that im not a fan off but still good.I would come back to try more things on the menu tho.

This is by far our very favorite Mexican restaurant!!The chicken soup is everyday fresh made !They are hands down the best food in the northern suburbs Try the whole menu there's not a single plate that's better than the other from the fajitas to burritos to their amazing drinks yummy

Where is the spice? I went into this thinking it would be a bit too spicy and looking at a flavorful meal. It had flavor, but not much spice. The atmosphere is good for a sit down Mexican restaurant. A bit festive, but the post-pandemic plexiglass dividers for the booths really detract from the appeal. The staff are very friendly and glad to accommodate my wife's questions about gluten-free items. The chips and salsa were brought to the tableImmediately which is very appreciated, what threw me off was the chicken noodle soup that came out before the entree. I didn't see that as something on the menu and chicken noodle soup is just not something I'd expect. The soup was fine, but if I had a choice, I'd rather have some queso. My wife had enchiladas and she felt they were spot on. The portion was good and the flavor of the salsa verde was great. I had the steak tacos dinner and it was fine. Not great, but fine. I finished the meal with the sopapillas. I really anticipated something as good as it looked on the menu. Unfortunately, the were flat, flavorless, deep fried tortillas shells. Will I return? Maybe...

Breaks my heart to post this because the service was fantastic. But i ate there and got food poisoning.

A convenient neighborhood spot with decent food. My teen surprised me by ordering the shrimp soup - it was packed with shrimp and a huge portion. The burrito, fajitas, and quesadillas were all ok, but not a lot of flavor overall. What did impress was the service. We have food allergies and the waitress was very accommodating and checked with the kitchen on each item. For those who need to avoid gluten, strangely steak, refried beans, and rice are all not options here along with the tortilla chips (chips I understand bc not everyone can dedicate a separate fryer).

We used to go for $5 margaritas back in the day. They were terrible but we were broke 21 year olds so it was fun. We almost never ate since the food is top tier mids. Very crappy overpriced Mexican food.I will say though. The chicken soup that comes with the meal is one of the best chicken soups ever. That's it though. The thing that comes free with the meal is the best item 3/10

Had dinner while passing through Glenview. Fond memories of all the Lalo's Restaurants and catering. Service and ambience were good but the food was lacking. Best part of dinner were the pickled carrots and garlic. Unfortunately not the same as the original Lalo's.
