I went here on one of the first weekends they opened right when they opened. It was just me and I ordered a double scoop: ube on top, lilikoi (passionfruit) on the bottom in a waffle cone. They literally have one of the best ube ice creams I've had - nice and thick, creamy, and full of flavor without being too sweet. The passionfruit was very flavorful and tarte and paired really well together. It was a little pricey but you usually get that with small batch ice creams at ~$8 for what I got.I would definitely go back to try some other flavors. It is close enough to home to stop by for q nice sweet treat.

Great unique ice cream. Loved the ube and passionfruit flavors i tried on opening day.Service is not speedy, but that's partially to be expected with new openings. I was most concerned that their employees didn't seem to have hygiene standards in place. To the management: you have great potential in your product but will need to build in strict hygiene practices into daily operations. Thank you for bringing great ice cream to the neighborhood!

Awesome ice cream. Stale waffle cones.Awesome ice cream. Slow customer service.Awesome ice cream. Employees/their associates aren't social distancing or asking customers to adhere to the 6ft rule.Awesome ice cream. Employees never cleaned tables, sanitized or even came out during down times despite several customers. Not going back until they take things seriously.

I wasn't impressed with their ube or apple pie flavors. It's a shame because I was really looking forward to trying them out!The ube tasted powdery and not sweet at all. I've had ube at other ice cream shops and in a variety of forms but this definitely wasn't it.The apple pie... well, I could only taste the pie part of it rather than the apple. The crust was layered like a pie but was really dry and bland. I couldn't taste the apple pie at all even after I reset my mouth with water from the ube.Again, it's a shame. I'd like to give this place a chance because maybe their other flavors might be good. For the record, they have sanitizing liquids outside if you'd like to eat by the door. Otherwise, the cash register-to-customer ratio doesn't seem to be six feet.

I've been wanting to try Laina's for a bit and drove over from Kirkland last weekend with my daughter. It is a cute spot inside the Stone House Cafe. Everything was decorated for fall/Halloween and my daughter loved it. We took some photos in the back of the blue truck filled with hay and pumpkins. Anyway, the ice cream. My 4 yo couldn't decide what to get. She tried the ube and didn't love it *eye roll* and ended up getting strawberry in a cone. She loved it. I got the ube and vanilla (idk why when there's so many other flavors) in a cup. The ube was nice and super sweet, the vanilla pretty standard. I considered getting the root beer float with the frozen rootBEAR, but didn't want a frozen drink dessert. I tried the lemon poppyseed and it was interesting! Tart and sweet? Definitely give it a try. I'm not sure if this is even a thing, but the ice cream was reallllly hard and I broke my spoon eating it. Took a while to soften up a bit to where I could scoop it out. If it wasn't so far away I would return. If you're in the area, stop in!

I had to make a yelp account to give an honest review about my unfortunately unpleasant experience with this ice cream ): I first saw this place on social media and since I work on weekdays (and the shop is only open on weekends), I never got the chance to visit until today. I was super excited to try this ice cream that I've heard has sold out on previous weekends! I also noticed that prices aren't on their website so for reference, I got a single scoop of ube ($4.75) and a pint of coconut ($9.95). I feel like ube and coconut are hard flavors to mess up, but something definitely felt extremely off. I tried the ube first and was so confused with what I was tasting but my immediate reminder was baby barf/spoiled milk?? I had to rinse out my mouth with water and tried the coconut to see if it was just a fluke, but the coconut had that same rotten taste ): I shared with both of my parents and still, they tasted the exact same thing. We all had to brush our teeth afterwards and I'm not lactose intolerant but I did feel my stomach churn a little. For what it's worth, my mom said that aside from the sour aftertaste, the coconut flavor and the texture were good! I'm thinking an ice cream machine wasn't washed thoroughly or the gallon of milk used was past it's expiration date. Ultimately, I threw away both the scoop and the pint of ice cream which I've never done with any dessert in my life.I was debating whether or not to even post this, especially so soon after it's opening, but I hope this review maybe warrants some test tasting before serving (taking necessary covid precautions) and the quality can improve! One of my friends said, "it's one thing to be like 'oh, this isn't what I expected' but it's another to have a literal physical reaction" I'm not angry but I am disappointed and wanted to bring attention to it if anyone else felt the same way. I give a lot of food spots triple chances but I'm hesitant about this one.

If you're rolling down Rainier on a sunny Saturday afternoon, be sure to stop into the Stone House. My husband heard the buzz on Facebook about a new ice cream shop in the area, so naturally we had to validate it for ourselves. Let me tell you Laina's does not disappoint. This ice-cream is unlike any other and the hype is real! For starters, parking is nearly nonexistent and will add another 5-10 minutes to your trip. Once inside, the hardest decision was figuring out which flavors to taste and which we wanted to actually leave the shop with. The grab-n-go pints (~$9) make decision a bit easier. My top 5 flavors (as of 7/13/20), in no particular order are Apple Pie, Pineapple Whip, Lemon Poppyseed, Peanut Butter Reese's, and Cookies & Cream. Service here is little to be desired, but as business ramps up, and they get a few more weekends under their belt, I'm sure the flow will be much smoother. It was our servers first day, so I can't hold much against them. When in doubt, they went and grabbed someone who I assume was an owner/manager and we were in-and-out in no time. We decided against the toppings and waffle cones for one main reason, they didn't look fresh. Typically, you'd see toppings in a serving tray of some sort, but they were displayed in jars behind the door and hadn't seemed used, so we passed. I couldn't smell any waffles cones cooking, so to avoid disappointment, we passed on those too. I can't wait for another weekend drive along the Rainier waterfront and pick-up more/new flavors to try!

Fantastic new ice cream store located onsite next to the Stone House Cafe. We went at noon, so not too busy yet. Everything was clean and service was good. Small batch flavors - creamy & delicious. About a dozen flavor choices at a time. Handmade waffle cones plain or dipped, fresh, flavorful with a little crispness. Our party of four tried Vanilla (creamy and very tasty), Strawberry (fresh), Chocolate (rich and creamy),- and Triple Berry (flavorful - purple!). Also tasted the Chocolate Crisp (chocolate with fudge and cocoa krispies). The flavors all shared a richness and creamy consistency of quality ice cream. Loved it!Will be recommending this store to friends, and look forward fo going back soon.

I was apprehensive after seeing the reviews about the ube ice cream, but I'm glad I still tried it. I've had ube ice cream from at least eight other places, and this one might be my favorite. The deep purple color was nice. There was also a lot of richness and depth to the flavor. I usually don't like coconut. There was a hint of coconut flavor, but just enough to add intricacy, and it wasn't overbearing at all.The texture of the ice cream was thick, creamy, and soft. It reminded me a bit of Frankie & Jo's, which isn't surprising since the ube ice cream here is also vegan. 10/10 for the ice cream.I was disappointed that the waffle cone was just Joy brand out of a box and not homemade. The ice cream didn't taste off or strange at all. If you're hesitant about it, I recommend trying a sample first (which is what I did).I'll probably be back, and I might even try one of the other flavors.

Finally had a chance to check out Laina's operating out of Stone House with pandemic going on. Came mainly for the holiday shakes but they were sadly out of the flavors and decorations They were able to find a fancy cup for my friends chocolate milkshake. I finally got to try the lilikoi and dole whip flavors. Was will worth the wait I was worried the lilikoi was going to be to creamy and not lilikoi enough but the passionfruit came through perfectly. Outdoor seating available with heaters. Order inside and find aseat outside. The holiday milkshakes were for a limited time will have to wait for next year to try!
