Lahori's Dhaba

One of my Indian co-workers wanted to try Lahori's Dhaba so we stopped in for lunch. I tried the Chicken Chana since they were out of tikka masala and the Chana was good. I'm no expert though.To my wimpy American spice tolerance, there was some heat to the mild but I would go again and try other things on the menu.Decor could use some improvement as it feels dark inside. Maybe it's an authentic dhaba experience?

We tried this place the other day for lunch when the restaurant we had been planning on going to was closed. The good: The chicken tikka masala and the samosas were both tasty. The samosas were made with a a lighter filo dough but they held onto more oil than expected. The other people I was with enjoyed their food as well. Our server was friendly and tried his best to be accommodating. The bad: Service is SLOW. Be prepared to wait. We were the first people in there (2 other groups of 2 people showed up after we had ordered) and it took almost 2 hrs to eat. There is no public bathroom, we were told a hand washing station only for customers. No idea if that is even legal. The garlic naan bread was sadly a miss. It was too thick and the inside did not even seem cooked. Definitely never had naan like it before. The decor inside looks like anything they found they hung up on the wall. I'd probably order food from here to go in the future but not dine in again.

Good food. All halal items. Ambience is not fancy just to eat and leave. Service is a little slow but ok if you have time.

We were greatly disappointed to try this place. It did not live up to its vibe on yelp. We went there on a Monday night and were the only customers. Their small dining room was filled with either used oil or flaxseed oil like smell which was not very appealing. After a second thought, we decided to go ahead and place our order. We got the tandoori chicken after seeing some promising pictures on yelp and lahori karahi chicken with rice and naan on the side that came with it. It took a while to get the food, although we were the only customers. We were surprised we got no aroma of food being cooked. When I cook tandoori chicken at home, my whole house smells like tandoori chicken and it takes a day to get rid of that smell.Tandoori chicken tasted pretty good and authentic though, unlike any other place I have tried in US, but it was clearly pre-cooked and just warmed up. It was not stale though and the texture was fine. No food color, which was great as well!Lahori karahi chicken was pretty salty to our taste and also sour, am guessing if there was any curd (yoghurt) in it, it had turned sour. We were also disappointed by the naan. It was more like pita bread most likely store bought and not made in house. Two stars are for the people running the joint. They were nice. There is definitely lot of room for improvement and hope the joint grows into a better place. We may return again for tandoori chicken.

Food was just OK. Not what I was expecting.I guess I've tried Indian/Pakistani food from different places but I felt this place had much less taste. . . Could be that it's made for those who aren't very used to spicy/flavorful Indian/Pakistani food.

Would give negative stars if possible. We got takeout on our way to Tucson and were served stale chicken karahi; gravy tasted super sour, and one bite into the chicken we realized it was totally stale, inedible. I am guessing they tried to cover that up by adding achar and lemons. Chicken roll which came wrapped in a tortilla was horrible too. Naan was average. Made the mistake of going to this restaurant based on yelp reviews, but never again; would stick to Hilal Grill from now onwards.

As a desi, it pains me to leave a bad review for a desi restaurant - had high hopes since the reviews were good and the pictures looked great- ordered chicken rolls, mutton biryani and chicken Karahi. The rolls were for the ride back to Tucson- very disappointed it was a roll up in a flour tortilla with some ranch and hot sauce - absolutely not Indo-Pak. Fast fwd to the 'main course' - the chicken karahi was clearly stale with the marinade or masala which had gotten sour and the chicken was probably bad so they added more oil and lime and tried to pass it on. The biryani was likely stale too but re-sautéed in oil. Extremely, extremely disappointed - have had food at a lot of poor Indian/Pak restaurants but never had to throw food away like this for fear of food poisoning.

My husband loves their chicken karahi with roti (our staple). Their rotis are massive and worth every penny! They don't make mutton dishes anymore. They used to be amazing but they've taken it off their menu. Docking off a star because their mango lassi could have been better. Felt a bit foamy and that was like $4.

I'm pissed. I drove all the way over here (half hour drive) and this place is closed down for renovations the neighbor store said it's been closed for a while now and yet this shop has not said a word allowing people to waste there time driving all the way over here.
