I stopped in the middle of a fun day at the zoo. Food: 3 StarsService: 5 StarsSpeed food was ready: 4 StarsAtmosphere: 5 StarsWe were hungry after a good morning at the zoo. My five-year-old wanted a hotdog. This is one of two locations in the zoo that sells hotdogs. The children's meal comes with a protein, apple sauce, animal crackers and a drink. It has a bag that makes it easy to save what she didn't eat for later. For eight dollars I was satisfied with it, and it fueled her for another couple hours.I had the meatball sandwich. It is basically a sub. It was average, but it did fill me up. There were a couple of very cheesy bites that were tasty. It came with a side of chips. It was a great choice for us for lunch. There was plenty of covered and uncovered seating. Lunch was about 25 dollars, and we both left satisfied and ready to see the giraffes.

We stood in line for about 10 minutes and yet there were only 2 people ahead of us - and they were together. Either the people working were VERY VERY slow or they were under staffed - but it was too hot for us to stand in the sun waiting for food. There were lots of kids around complaining because it was a pretty long wait for them to be in the sun waiting....We eventually got to order and then had to wait another 10 minutes to get our food. This wasn't too bad though cause at least we could sit down - out of the sun. I will say, the food was DELICIOUS! The pepperoni pizza was Soo cheesy and tasty and may have been worth the wait in the hot sun. :)

It's at the Zoo & it is one of the choices you have without having to leave the zoo. The food is not too bad though. They have a selection of Hot Dogs, Pizza & burgers. You are given a buzzer once you pay & the buzzer goes off once your food is ready & you go back up and pick it up.They have 2 varieties of Karl Strauss beer on tap & also Bud in bottles. They also sell bottled water in addition to fountain drinks, so it is a good spot to pick either up.The ducks from the Lagoon next door usually hang out on the terrace & will go after any crumbs that make it to the floor. Keep your tiny people up.It's in a convenient location, right across from where the Zoo Tour bus drops you off, so you can grab a bite here before you begin your trek around the zoo.

Pizza wasn't very good and the slices weren't very big. It was basically just frozen pizza with some iceberg lettuce and a little dressing. Obviously, it's also expensive since it's at the zoo. I personally preferred the other places.

Everything is overpriced! Chips are too salty, hotdog is alright but atleast pizza is good. Drinks are overpriced! 12 oz is $4.50. My advice is pack ur food and drinks if you want to save up your money.

Judged by the standards of the zoo (very low), this place is OK for a quick bite. The food (pizza/hot dogs) is not bad. The restaurant is located conveniently close to the entrance (and toilet). There is no view, service is average. The biggest positive points are: the place is relatively not crowded, the turnaround is quick. If these points are not important, subtract a star.Overall: if your kids/grandkids need urgent refueling and you are next to the entrance, this will work in a pinch. Otherwise, there are better places at the Zoo.

Horrible customer service! Also, they have mold in their beer tap lines. I have no idea why they haven't been shut down yet. ALARMING to say the least.

This is one of the options for eating inside San Diego Zoo, located next to the Sandwich Co. near the entrance. You can't expect too much eating in the zoo. It wasn't bad though and the servers were friendly.I got the Baja Dog (a little under $10). The poppyseed bun was kind of stale, but every other part of the hot dog was fine. It had a good amount of toppings and was filling. It comes with a side of some potato chips. They're just normal chips. You can buy bottled water for over $3 or just ask for a cup of water and get refills.
