Tried this place since it had great reviews. Wasn't impressed. Took home a variety of pan dulce. The concha was burnt. Lacked customer service. Will not be coming back as they forgot my bolillo for my menudo as well.

I don't know much about Conchas, but the people I bought them for said that they weren't that great and suggested that next time I go elsewhere.Kind of a weird setup for a shop. The service was good though. Friendly people.

I called them before I was on my way to verify their hours and the person I spoke with said they closed at 7pm. I got there in twenty minutes at 6:40pm and everything was already locked up. I really wanted to try them out and it was the only bakery on the way to the event.

Even though I grew up in Arizona, I never really cared for Mexican pastries. I've changed my mind. Empanada de calabaza? It's like October in my mouth, and I love it. Cochitos? I'm usually not a fan, but these were good. Conchas? Very fresh, but I'm not going crazy over them. It's worth a try from someone who is a better judge than myself.I don't know the names of everything, I just know that the morsels covered in pink sugar were my favorite. They can be ordered in miniature sizes for a very sharable box of treats. This is legit.

A wonderful hole in the wall on the NE corner of Southern and 16th street but watch out because it's so small you can miss it! La Mejor is an excellent Mexican Bakery/ Panaderia if your craving some fresh and delicious pan dulce. I grew up eating Mexican pastries in Guadalupe at 'The Flores Bakery' which was THE BEST pan dulce you could ever have! but sadly the place was closed years ago and it has been extremely hard to find another place that can compete with it. No worries though!! because this place comes pretty damn close. :) Prices are CHEAP and you can always bet on the goods being fresh but as ALL Panaderia's the best time to go is in the morning so you don't have to worry about pastries that have been sitting around for hours.Try it! My favorites are always the Cuernito's, Pumpkin Empanada's and of course the classic Concha's. :)

Paid over $90 for this "chocolate tres leches cake" asked for it to be decorated like a traditional tres leches cake with fruit and this is what I got, this is a cake for a 28yr old man(which I stated when ordering) no fruit, and nothing was chocolate except the cake. Customer service was also horrid, called to complain and was told the daughter which I'm assuming was the owner would call me back in 5 minutes and still hasn't called me back over a week later. I wanted to use a locally owned bakery instead of a commercial one but really really regret it. Food City would have done a better job. If nothing else we got a good laugh out of the monstrous, ugly cake. Save your money if you're looking for a chocolate tres leches cake, or any cake for that matter!!!

Ok so I was looking for a place that sells Mexican cheesecake. I've had it before while on vacation in Los Angeles and it's one of those things that's fairly hard to come by. This is a type of cheesecake that is different from a typical ordinary cheesecake that you can get from the bakery of your grocery store. It's subtly different from let's say The Cheesecake Factory type of cheesecakes but nonetheless I find it to be delicious. Well, this place has them. I'm glad I found them on Yelp so here's the rundown. This is a small mom and pop operation and it's located in South Phoenix. Parking is decent with open non shaded stalls available when I went there in the afternoon. There are other adjacent businesses that share the same parking lot. Maybe about 20 parking stalls total. When you enter the store, it looks like you are in Mexico and not the better part of Mexico. Not trying to be mean but factual. There is no pleasant ambience inside but rather a vibe like it was decorated on a shoestring budget by a drug dealer. It is what it is. Inside are rows and rows of authentic Mexican pastries as well as a small assortment of cold drinks in a self serve cold storage upright. I don't know the names of any of these pastries and it's kinda hit and miss. Some have filling some don't. All are fresh and it's definitely something that you'll never see in a regular stores bakery. I selected a few items that were custard filled and pumpkin filled besides the cheesecakes I mentioned earlier. I paid $9 for 9 different pieces, great price!!!My rating is strictly for the taste and selection of the goods that they sell. The staff here has difficulty in speaking English so be patient with them. I've called them over the phone to ask them questions and they hung up on me a few times. Not sure what to make of that, maybe they just didn't understand me. Oh well, the cheesecake alone makes up for the faults that I've described. It's that good. Give this place a try. I'm gonna be a repeat customer here now that I've found my Mexican cheesecake spot in Phoenix. As a side note, if you happen to be a movie director and you have a scene for a Mexican bakery than this is the spot you need to film inside. You don't even need to create a stage, it already looks like a foreign country in here. Just set up your cameras, your lighting and start rolling the cameras. You wouldn't even need makeup to touch up on the staff, they're gonna already be in character. This place gets 5 stars!!!
