Two things about this place:1: Customer Service sucks2: Meat is horrible to the point that Idk what's worse, the streets full of patches and potholes or this meat. 4/25/24Time of throwing up nasty meat: 10:06 a.m

Good food, but not when you try to order and they take forever to take your order. Needs to be more managed.

I tried coming here a few years back. But they had closed the store early, way before advertised business hours. Slow light would be my guess. So after a few years, I finally decided to stop in and give them a try. There's not really much taquerias in this area, so because of the lack of competition, a restaurant can choose to lower their standards or make sure they excel at what they do. La Largatija didn't disappoint. I ordered their carne Asada taco, al pastor and Volcan tostada. The Volcan tostada was definitely something different that I've never tried before. They serve it on a homemade tostada and top it off with melted cheese. Never thought I'd tried that combo before but it was sure delicious. Both the carne Asada and al pastor taco were also tasty. The al pastor was cooked perfectly and the marinade was very flavorful. It was al served with a slice of pineapple. The carne Asada was seasoned perfectly and the meat was very tender. I'll keep this on my list for sure.

Best burritos in Chicago! If you're cutting back on meat, the veggie burrito is fantastic. Highly recommend!! We've always had great service as well.

Cockroaches.First of all, this place has roaches, I had one peek out from the brown table by the wall. Okay, that ruins any experience possible.But things, sadly, got worse.The food was bland, nothing good, it was average at best, and any other mexican restaurant could do a lot better.No seasoning. Sigh.The service? ATROCIOUS. The owner kicked us out after we finished our meal, 50 minutes after being inside their establishment.That's right.You are NOT allowed to spend more than an hour regardless of how much food you ate.There was only 3 customers.We were kicked out by the owners of the restaurant.One of if not the WORST restaurant experiences I have ever had.As a Chef, that is DISGUSTING.I would NEVER treat a guest this way.I have attached a picture of the owner who kicked us out, who by the way, said "You have over stayed your stay, you ate already for an hour, it's time to go. Leave or I will call the police, you already ate" There was only 3 other people on a Wednesday afternoon. We could not believe it. That's how guests are treated here.Mind you, we are very respectful people, and I make sure to always be humble. so, don't call yourself a restaurant.SHAME on you. Read my reviews and you fall on one of the worst one stars I have.Close up or change up.But with roaches, I prefer you shut down.Clean up, fumigate, train your staff and hopefully change as an OWNER or your place will shut down. You won't last in this hospitality industry like this.Other restaurants are more deserving like RICANOS right down the street.P.S. Check La Lagartijas Facebook reviews, this isn't the first time someone got kicked out for staying longer than an hour.Shameful. Sad, and shameful.

The tacos and tamales are delicious and are a reasonable price, especially compared to alternatives in the west loop area. Service was quick and friendly. I recommend the al pastor taco, fish taco and red chicken tamale! My friend got the torta which looked good too. I had a burrito last time I came and definitely prefer their tacos over their burritos.

I love these tacos there the best definitely recommend them. The food is to die for.u will love them

New owners. New recipes. The shrimp tacos aren't as good. The pastor is no longer with pineapple. What a bummer.

Great food, along with friendly and fast service! The food is authentic Mexican and it's sooooooooo good. Will def return here.
