La Esquina Pupuseria Salvadoreña

Nashville, Tennessee has some great pupuserias and tonight I checked out La Esquina Pupuseria Salvadorana. Like most of the pupuserias that I have been in, this place is extremely humble and definitely offers little in the way of ambiance and atmosphere. There are a few tables and some cheap paintings and bric-a-brac hanging on the walls. Even my salt and pepper shaker were mismatched. But to me, this made me anticipate my dinner more.The process here is you place an order at the counter and when it is ready, they bring you your food. There was a bit of a language barrier, but the young lady taking my order was friendly and it was not really an issue.The menu was quite diverse and offered a nice selection of fillings for their pupusas. I opted to go with a mixed pupusa, a chorizo and cheese pupusa and a jalapeño and cheese pupusa. Then I noticed that they had tacos and impulsively ordered an asada taco. I chose a seat and before long, they brought me my feast and I have to say that it looked impressive. After my first bite, I decided not only did it look impressive, but it tasted even better than it looked.If you find yourself in Nashville, Tennessee, I would definitely recommend a visit here.

Really delicious food at great prices! We don't speak a lick of Spanish, but someone from the back was able to accommodate us and take care of us. There were a lot of families on a Saturday morning, which was exactly the vibe my family was looking for. Loved the jars of curtido/slaw so I could customize my pupusas to my liking.

Absolutely fantastic food! The place was quaint and the menu was easy to understand.

Great pupusas and plantains ! I highly recommend the pork and queso pupusas or the chicken and queso, the pork and bean ones were a bit dry. Great salsa and slaw to put on top!

I'm always excited to try a Salvadoran restaurant that I haven't tried yet. Pupuseria La Esquina exceeded my expectations. In a strip mall in Antioch Pike I saw a good amount of cars packed out front. I stopped by for lunch and it was pretty crowded which is a good sign. This small place is definitely no frills. I ordered a tamale and two pupusas. The tamale came first. It was probably the best in town. Great flavor, moist, complimented well with the sauces. Definitely not prefrozen. The pupusas came next. I got a bean and cheese and chicharron. They were both awesome. Good texture and not under or over cooked. It was the right amount of food to be full, but not feel too full. This is up there on the best in town.

One of my favorite pupuserias in town. I love their loroco pupusas best. The cortido and sauce is good. My only complaint is that the desayuno typico doesnt have a chorizo option. I've only had pupusas, tamales and breakfast food here. Service is great, pay at the register when you leave.Update: they recently redid their menu and the breakfast does have a chorizo option, my bf got it and it was well made. Theres also an option to sub the beans with casamiento which is beans and rice fried together, it was also good. This is a low key place but has nice, quick service and good food that tastes homemade.

Made to order but kind of small sized. Plátanos fritos are soo good here! Just wished the popusas where a bit bigger.

Please do not go to this place. I called to place an order and the lady that answered the phone had an attitude and hung up on me multiple times while i was trying to place my order. After i had finally placed the order, I changed my mind and decided i didn't want to give this place my money after they were so rude over the phone so i called back and told them i wanted to cancel my order and they told me my order was ready so i couldn't cancel it, the lady ended up asking someone else if i could cancel it and then shortly after they just hung up on me without saying anything. Very rude and uneducated. Would not recommend. Por favor, no vayan a este lugar. Llamé para hacer un pedido y la señora que contestó el teléfono tuvo una actitud y me colgó varias veces mientras intentaba hacer mi pedido. Después de que finalmente hice el pedido, cambié de opinión y decidí que no quería darle a este lugar mi dinero después de que fueron tan groseros por teléfono, así que les llamé y les dije que quería cancelar mi pedido y me dijeron que mi pedido estaba listo, así que no podía cancelarlo, la señora terminó preguntándole a alguien más si podía cancelarlo y luego me colgaron sin decir nada. No vayan a este lugar son muy grosero y sin educación. No lo recomendaría.

If I could give this place a zero I would. Everyone in that place is rude. They aren't getting a dime from me, ever. They love to be rude, hang up on your face, and have no customer service skills. Don't run a business if you can't handle it.
