Came here looking for a piñata. I visited a couple stores before La Canasta, but they had the most variety! It's also right down the street from my house which is a plus. All of the staff were very kind. No custom piñatas, but they have some from extra small all the way to extra large. Would come here again!

BEST TACOS. I definitely recommend the lengua and the tripa. I like the large tortillas, but the small tortilla tacos look the same, just doubled tortillas. Salsas on the table are delicious

I'm hesitant to say just how good the tamales are (I don't want the price to go up) . The tamales are exceptional not only is the masa seasoned but the meat is well seasoned. Whenever I'm in the area, I order five or six of them to tied me over until the next time I'm in the area.

If you're looking for luxury you won't find it here. What you will find is a little restaurant in back of the store that will transport you to that same atmosphere in Mexico, but in Burien, Washington, USA! The staff is super friendly and helpful. The selection of menu items is plentiful without being overwhelming and the food...OMG, the food is soooooo delicious! If you like your refried beans smooth and creamy and tasty, get them. If your love chili verde spicy and hearty, get that! Out tacos were filled with flavorful meats that were not dry, but still juicy. The freaking handmade tortillas....jeez...no words to describe them. Man oh man...boy oh boy. For a little place at the back of a Mexican grocery store, La Canasta puts the big and little chains to shame! You must try this place. Everybody who loves Mexican food should. Keep up the authenticity with the food friendly staff. My kudos to you for doing it right. Thank you for an outstanding meal!

This area is host to some of the best Latin American Mercados! I shop at them all, and appreciate those like La Canasta (The Basket) that sell fresh produce (their cilantro is always fresh, and they sell prepared cactus!), dried chili's, real imported products (salsas, refried beans - Ducal red is hands down the best canned refined bean you can buy), and have a good carneceria (butcher) with authentic cheeses (favorite is the panela), fresh salsas, and prepared meats, like arranchera preparada (thinly sliced beef), al pastor (seasoned pork with pineapple), chicharron (fried pork skins), and chorizo seco (dry cured Mexican sausage).La Canasta is a great all around Mercado for every thing you need for home cooked tacos or burritos. They do not sell liquor, so for Mexican cervesa you'll have another stop. They also have an in-house restaurant with dine-in, take out, and delivery that is very good. The best thing that La Canasta does is their chorizo seco!! I have tried all of the local varieties from here to there, and La Canasta makes the best! I recommend grilling (be careful as it is oily and will flare up) and then crumbling on tacos, burritos, breakfast burritos, etc. I also will prepare a bunch in advance and freeze, so I can pull out for quick reheat.Overall, La Canasta is a delightful Mercado for authentic Mexican/Latin food!
