This place is ridiculously hot!!! The temperature inside is unbearable. I felt so bad for the employees.

Very large selection of Mexican pastries. I've grown quite fond of these types of baked goods, their largeness, their less sweetness, their plain-ness... I love getting the tongs and the tray. I love loading up on the conchas, the fruit empandas, the cinnamin cookies, the chocolate cake slices.... then taking my tray to the cashier and paying usually less than $5 for everything. Now I am sure there are probably a few transfats in some of these items. But the ding dong look alike cupcake won me over. Damn it was good.

La Canasta has been my local bakery for 15 years. The best panaderia sandwiches in Hermosa. Just driving pass this neighborhood gem early in the morning you can smell their freshly baked treats wafting through the window. They have an assortment of different sweets but the sandwiches are what I come for. At $2.50 on freshly baked french bread they should have put the Subway across the street out of business years ago. They do accept the Link card for the sandwiches as well as everything else. Definitely worth the stop if your passing through the area

La Canasta is right by my apartment and it is a little piece of heaven for me since I moved in. It is not the best Panaderia that I've been to, but it is delicious. The staff is really friendly, especially if you speak a little Spanish and the pastries are delicious. They also make fresh squeezed orange juice and so now I'm probably going to be going even more often. Yum.
