RIP la bajaI pulled up and the sign said "new management".The menu looks the same, but red flag #1 came when I asked for a fountain drink and was told it was out of order... "No gas"... Ok...water cup then...The fountain drink machine didn't have ice... So they ran to the back to get me ice. Red flag #2I tried to pour a cup of water and.... MOLD!!!Nope.com. That's #3, and that's 3 too many.Yeah...I should have walked out then and there, but I had already ordered and paid for my food... So... Yeah ...Instant regret of leaving a tip before knowing the service would be tainted by MOLD IN THE WATER AND OR ICE...I tried to roll with the punches, seeing as I've loved coming here for years... But then the tacos came out and they have changed the recipe. Gone is the king of carne asada- arrachera - and in its place is the cost saving standard chuck roast meat served by just about every other taco shop in town... Ruined the best thing they had going for them.Salsa recipes are different too.Adiós la baja.... Que te vaya bien.(2 stars because at least the staff is polite. They did offer me a bottle of water upon my showing them THE MOLD IN THE ICE AND OR WATER!!!)

On the hunt for a fresh Mexican dining experience close to home, I stumbled upon La Baja Mexican Restaurant. There was some parking but not tons. Our group's order consisted of a Carne Asada & Shrimp Burrito, paired with a side of Beans. As we awaited our meal, I noticed there was plenty of comfortable seating and a nice bar serving beer and wine. The restaurant was incredibly clean, and there was music playing loud but not to loud. Opting for takeout, the food was prepared pretty fast after a short wait. I was surprised by the substantial weight of the bag containing our generously-sized burritos. I had the Carne Asada burrito which proved to be tender and perfectly seasoned, while the beans were a delicious addition.Without a doubt, I am eager to return to La Baja Mexican Grill as a future dining option. The experience left a positive impression, and I will return. YUM!

My daughter says this is the birria in east county. They are very friendly and the prices are fair. I like the fish tacos.

Food is ok The guacamole does not last and does not taste like guacamole but rather tastes like a rip off version of it and they don't always include it when it's added. Other than food is always hot and yummy.I have ordered from here several times.

Watch out. The menu prices they have posted are "wrong" and a "management problem" according to the cashier. I called beforehand asking if they had chilaquiles since most places only have them during "breakfast hours". They do! Nice. I came in and asked, what the difference was between the supreme and regular? One has meat the other doesn't. Alright. Let me get the one with meat and let me eat it "for here". Right after ringing me up, the cashier asked "for to go right?". No, it's for here. I looked to my left and saw their most of their drink dispensers had sticky notes slapped on them with the words "out of order" written on them with sharpie. No problem. I'll just grab my water bottle from the car.I ordered a chilaquiles supreme (listed as $13.99) with no sour cream and they gave me the regular one (listed as $10.99) covered in a sea of sour cream. The total was $15.07. With tax, that price makes sense if I ordered the supreme. When the food came out and I saw the sour cream, I reminded the cashier of my order, so they made me a new one without the sour cream. Cool. Then when the food came out a second time and I didn't see any meat, I reminded them I wanted the supreme and the cashier said they "didn't charge me for it". I checked my bank account and confirmed the charge: $15.07. The cashier replied "yeah, I didn't charge you for the supreme". I thought to myself, the menu says $10.99 is the charge for the regular. I asked, "How much is the tax?" The cashier attempted to lift up and twist the electronic register screen around to show me "The supreme is supposed to be $17. The menu is wrong."Sure, the cashier gave me a "free" side of unseasoned carne asada afterwards, but it's misleading and deceptive. I ended up taking the rest of my plate to go because my appetite was ruined.
